How to Biblically Disengage From and Leave a TOXIC CHURCH or LEADER: Listen Up RCG and PCG

NOTE: While I have moved on personally from any religious affiliations or beliefs, I know the sincerity and dedication of many if not most of the COG membership in all the splits and splinters. I know the abuse issues that come up from time to time either for an individual or the group as a whole. I know how easy it is to think that YOU are in the wrong and "the Church" , "the Ministry" or "the Leader" can't be wrong. But they certainly can be. I don't believe I have to list the specific Apostles and Prophets, falsely so called, who fit into this category of men who are terribly wrong and often.

My wish is that this perspective might help those struggling with the obvious toxicity of, in particular, The Philidelphia Church of God, under Gerald Flurry and the worst of all, The Restored Church of God, under David C Pack.

Many outside those two cults wonder how those in it can't see what is happening to them. But it takes stepping back from something for a time to think and reconsider from a fresh perspective.

My wish for all concerned is that you can step back for a time. Stay home from Church a few weeks. Regroup and consider the track record of those who are supposed to be "helpers of your joy", and aren't really.

If you believe you can sort through all this while stuck in the midst of it all week after week, consider this.

Pour molasses in one hand and take a handful of feathers in the other. Now mix them together with your hands and try to pick out the feathers...  :)   It can't be done. You can't figure it out when stuck in it week after week.  Step back and wash your hands.

The COG police are taking notes, and will definitely confront people who are taking a couple week's breather. If they do confront you, tell them the truth about why you missed. If you do, most likely they will make the decision for you, and you will be out and free from their toxicity.

A video about seven ways religion traumatizes people. Gee, I wish they would do one like it for the new religion of wokeist cancel culture.

Sometimes it not just the church organization that is toxic, but the beliefs or even the religion itself. But maybe people need to take it in stages.

Oh, yeah, those guys must be exhausting to deal with. Nike, Gillette, the NFL, Target, Walmart, Disney, AnheiserBusch...

Without family involved and the responsibilities one has for them, I could probably go the rest of my life never again darkening the doorway of or speaking the name of a Cog. This is an oft repeated prayer.
