Why Are Living Church of God Members Continually Distracted By Trials And Temptations?

Once more, LCG members are found not living up to the standards the church expects from them. All-powerful Satan continues to mess with their lives.

Stay Focused on Our Mission: History records that mankind and God’s chosen people have drifted off course again and again—due to Satan’s deceptive influence. Adam and Eve made wrong choices that sent human societies off in a wrong direction (Genesis 3). Ancient Israel turned from God and suffered serious consequences. Today, modern Israelite nations are heading down the same path. Jesus commissioned His disciples to preach the Gospel (Mark 1:14–15; 16:15), warn the world of the consequences of sin, and announce the signs of His return (Matthew 24). The mission of God’s Church also involves preparing a people to reign with Jesus Christ in the coming Kingdom of God (Luke 1:17). To qualify for this exciting reward, we must avoid being distracted by the trials, temptations, and cares of this world (Matthew 13:18–23). Let’s stay focused on our God-given mission.
Have a profitable Sabbath,
Douglas S. Winnail

This chapter seems to refer to the role of John the Baptist as Jesus indicated was the fulfillment of Malachi's prophecy that Elijah would be sent to prepare the way for Christ.

Somehow it has been made to apply to a church founded in the USA.

What I do not understand is the Malachi 4:6 prophecy of how has the Elijah, or how will the Elijah, turn the hearts of the children toward their parents and the hearts of the parents toward their children. Seems to me that no one has been able to do this so far, neither those from the WCG groups nor from the Protestant world. Unless I'm missing something. I don't even see it from John The Baptist of whom Jesus said that no man was greater than John.

As much as they watch, watch, watch at their age, they can’t help but be distracted. People in the Bible didn’t have the media like we do today. They are distracted by their own doing. Trying to fit world events into their contextual narrative.

British Israelism has been debunked. But don't take my word for it, ask ChatGPT.

Its been debunked scriptually, scientifically, historically and logically.

Coptic Christians in Egypt can trace their origin to 42AD. They never followed the dietary laws, and the celebrate Christmas (on January 7 with no Santa Claus).

Doug writes as though he has a lack of Old Testament knowledge. For example, Doug wrote: "...History records that mankind and God’s chosen people have drifted off course again and again—due to Satan’s deceptive influence. Adam and Eve made wrong choices that sent human societies off in a wrong direction (Genesis 3). Ancient Israel turned from God and suffered serious consequences. Wut? Doug, God inspired both Moses and Joshua to tell the Israelites that they would not yield to God, but would continue to go astray.

Satan does not influence as if he were just some wimp; that thing controls minds.

Why all of the different manmade churches of god (e.g "living" group, Packites, Flurryites, United Ass. ites, etc. ) in existence today? Who are they all yielding to?

Virtually all of these groups have drifted off course, down different paths, just like the ancient Israelites. Why?

Moses was inspired to tell us why? Here it is:

"Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day." Deut 29:4

The ancient Israelites sinned, but so do members of all of these scattered "churches" of god, which used to be part of the former WCG, and if God does not provide that heart, eyes and ears of Deut 29:4, guess what the results going to be? Wut? Or, should we say: "Duh?"

Doug thinks he and his followers can qualify to reign with Jesus Christ "very soon" in the kingdom of God for 1,000 years when the Bible indicates all enemies would be subdued, put down, first.

Does Doug really believe people can qualify somehow? Time will tell.

Oh, and sin of ancient Israelites, "modern Israelites" (whatever that is?), Gentiles, manmade "churches of god?" Well, the New Testament gives more insight to this matter of sin:

I John 3:8 "He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."

Can it be any more simple? complex? "He that committeth sin is of the devil;..."

For example, since Doug mentioned Adam/Eve, how about Cain and Abel? Was Cain just influenced? Or, might Cain have been controlled (Eph 2:2, 6:12; James 4:5; John 8:44, 2 Tim 2:26, etc.)

:12 "Not as Cain, [who] was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother s righteous.

Cain slew his brother, but why? "Not as Cain, [who] was of that wicked one,..."

It sounds like: "No Satan; no sin!" Or, perhaps, thinking of this another way: "Know Satan; know sin!"

Doug, God did not send Jesus to condemn this world, but to save it. Is that going to be accomplished by God or not?

Do you really think that God may be waiting for you, Doug, and your followers to somehow magically "qualify" and save us? Remember you can't get good fruit from an evil tree, nor evil fruit from a good tree. Should we all expect that Doug and his followers, members who can't seem to come up to Doug's standards, will qualify as if they could impress God and perhaps glory in God's presence?

Time will tell...
