Six-pack Gerry seems to have gotten off easy in his divorce settlement. Lil'Stevie won't have to compete with Vicki after his daddy dies and the organization transfers to his sweaty hands.
Exposing the underbelly of Armstrongism in all of its wacky glory! Nothing you read here is made up. What you read here is the up to date face of Herbert W Armstrong's legacy. It's the gritty and dirty behind the scenes look at Armstrongism as you have never seen it before! With all the new crazy self-appointed Chief Overseers, Apostles, Prophets, Pharisees, legalists, and outright liars leading various Churches of God today, it is important to hold these agents of deception accountable.

So he even copied his hero Herb in this regard.
In 1981 HWA had an adjusted gross income of $421.052 and claimed itemized deductions of only $46,589. Gerald Flurry has a gross income from the church of $100,000. What would HWA think of this? Would he think that his successors are amateurs by comparison.
Who knows what non wage benefits Flurry enjoys, but yes a real amateur compared to Armstrong who, in today's dollar, enjoyed after accounting for inflation - $421,000 in 1981 being worth $1,539,626 in 2025
or 15 times greater (and of course the self proclaimed apostle enjoyed big non wage benefits as well).
How revealing this is!
I'm struck that they separated on the Sunday after the Feast of Tabernacles. Did they use the Feast as a "last chance" to stay together?
It's also interesting that Mr. Flurry is receiving Social Security money (even with that salary!). Wasn't the old pattern of WCG NOT to contribute to that? Or was that permitted?
This will be back in court in two weeks.
Here's the online file for the case.
I Timothy 3:1 The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. 2 Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3 not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4 He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, 5 for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church? 6 He must not be a recent convert, or he may become puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. 7 Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace, into a snare of the devil.
Morally, it's non of the church's business what their employees do with their pay pack. If they want to contribute to social security, that's their right. But with Herb-land ignoring the bible's command to not add or subtract from God's laws, who knows what went on in that religious funny farm.
This document will be a major embarrassment to the leaders of the other big ACOGs, who have some middle-managers earning more than GRF.
It's also interesting that Mr. Flurry is receiving Social Security money (even with that salary!). Wasn't the old pattern of WCG NOT to contribute to that?
You need just 40 quarters of contributions to qualify for Social Security benefits. Flurry has been collecting a PCG paycheck for more than 140 quarters. He probably started paying into Social Security when he started PCG.
the parties each agree that neither shall disparage the other to any third party at any time.
That's one more job that will fall on Lil' Stevie instead of his daddy!
I'm thinking it might have been a good idea to redact Vicki's phone number. There are a few kook-a-boos floating around here who might attempt to call her.
Steven Flurry can't get away with painting his stepmother as another Ramona, because if he slanders her that way he's setting up a parallel in which HE must be either GTA or Joe Tkach Jr.
But even if he doesn't say it, you know PCG members are already thinking it. Somewhere in PCG there's a relatively junior minister who fancies himself as the next GRF, ready to bolt from PCG when Steven leads it astray.
I think that the WCG employees did not pay into SS, believing that they wouldn't be around to collect it.
Flurry& too many of the ACoGs built their foundation on the legacy of HWA rather than Christ. Flurry seemed to want to BE HWA to the point he emulated him and really help facilitate a HWA idolatry. It is little wonder PCoG is shrinking rapidly. When Gerald goes the way of all mankind I look for one of his lieutenants to break off and form his own cult.
Yes this group will most likely disintegrate after Gerry goes. And follow the others and continue to shrink into non existence in due course. Their membership must be small, maybe no more than 5000 members, on a good day? And perhaps that is too optimistic a figure. Cheers.
Nope. Steven and his dad are legally one party, so Steven would be guilty of violating the agreement. That's why the legal use of the word party.
"Flurry& too many of the ACoGs built their foundation on the legacy of HWA rather than Christ"
Who does build their legacy on Christ? Nobody I know.
Did anyone notice that Gerald filed for divorce and not Vicki? He also filed pro se, meaning it seems this is being done without attorneys.
And did you notice the age gap between those two??? Wow.
Yes, that was true through 1975, and the WCG equivalent of the "Great Disappointment". At that same time, AC Press, my job at the college, was sold to a secular printing company, the W.A.Krueger Co., and we received raises and the FICA deductions began with our first paychecks. During the "Honey I Shrunk the Church" era of the '90s, I read of people whom I'd known for years being laid off in Pasadena, never having paid into the Social Security Admin, and was horrified at the thought that they would have virtually no benefits accrued for retirement after all their years of faithful service. It is nothing short of devastating, the damage that one false prophet with a sizable following can inflict.
Flurry's SS Benefits are extremely low. They may be based entirely on what he paid into the system throughout the early part of his career before he became a paid elder in WCG. If PCG employees do pay into Social Security, then each year that he continues to work, Flurry's SS benefits will increase to reflect that income.

It will probably come out that Flurry has been seeing doctors and getting mainstream medical treatment while telling his followers not to do so just like HWA did, even to the point of having his own personal md on call 24/7, but allowing Loma to die from a bowel blockage that could have been treated successfully in the late 1960s

MY COMMENT - It appears that way. The only thing missing to make it more similar to HWA's messy divorce to Ramona is innuendo of "a private family matter" involving incest. Little Stevie needs to come forward with an "I could destroy you" moment emulating GTA to more perfectly mirror Herbert Armstrong's divorce.
Richard
Nah! They'd be calling her to offer congratulations!
Almost 30 years (26 to be exact), that's how they do things over in Armstrongism. No council, no questioning ..Sort of like LCGs Lowe.
Little Stevie needs to come forward with an "I could destroy you" moment emulating GTA
Isn't that exactly what happened after Lil' Stevie got his father out of trouble on the open container charge? Ever since then, Stevie's power and profile in PCG has done nothing but increase, and Gerry has become more and more a puppet of his son as he has aged.
The ACOGs shrinking into nothingness is in accordance with God's warning to Israel in the book of Samuel.
1 Samuel. 12:25 "Yet if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king
(ministers) will be swept away.”
If Flurry becomes terminally ill, will the people around him make sure that he dies on January 16 like his idol HWA?
I just learnt that there's hundreds of unaccredited bible colleges in America. I always assumed that AC was almost unique as a religious college. There's been a collapse in their number the past decade or so. I assume Internet dissident sites have warned young people away.
lol. It would be a Double Wonder on the magical Day of Miracles!
Ambassador College was never conceived as a "Bible College" nor a Ministerial Training College.
It was supposed to be a Liberal Arts College.....The first American College Abroad in Switzerland dedicated to learning languages and general Liberal Arts.........AND the typical Armstrong Brand religion yes. Even 40 years after its founding Europeans reacted positively to the "Concept" of giving people a broad education to make them better leaders and implemented some of its ideas in the "World Colleges" concept where the world elites mingle with sponsored people from all walks of life interested in becoming a "World Citizen."
Everybody commening in the Line of "Gods West Point".....I hear ya......but I tell it as it is...
nck
All true, 6:36! Many accredited seminaries do go into depth, teaching some of the same things which we discuss here, such as problematic histories with things like the canon, obvious revisions of the OT, fallacies of literalism, conflicts amongst the scriptures, they examine period-related heresies, and delve into various theories regarding the nature of Jesus. There is an undercurrent amongst fundamentalists and literalists to the effect that official seminaries actually destroy faith, which is why these small, unaccredited Bible colleges gain traction.
We, indeed, are not the only people who fell for the idea that a particular teacher had all the secrets and answers that the "official" sources do not teach, or suppress. That is a popular theme, although few go to the extremes that our "Mr. Armstrong" went to in amalgamating his "truths".
Those higher concepts surely did not translate into reality, did they nck? AC ended up being a Bible college that did not want to be called a Bible college. Can you say pejorative? That persisted to the point at which HWA founded the "Ambassador International Cultural Foundation" to sidestep the perception amongst world leaders that he represented a Bible college. Nice try, though.
nck, AC was "Gods West Point?" Really? That's as truthful as Herb claiming that it ""taught its students how to live," which is pure marketing. How can a college teach people "how to live" if it firstly rejected rights, and secondly, hid that relationships are two way rather than one way? Since this left people without a means of resolving conflicting desires, the only "solution" is deception and/or physical/typically verbal violence. This often took the form of ministerial involvement in petty disagreements between members, with the minister being the third party who administered the violence and/or deception via bible twisting.
This disgraceful regressionn of adults to an infantile state is hardly "teaching people how to live."
There was no perception among world leaders that it was a bible college when he gifted them envoys. Also the Worldwide Work of the Radio Church of God and WCG was carried out under the name Ambassador College in most countries.

I won't debate you on those practicalities.
I just saud what it was supposed to be when he consulted his brother in law a distinguished educator and what was discussed with Orince Charles 40 years later.

What the Heck , Look at His Pay that's shocking . NOT THE RIGHT CHURCH!
All the groups ask for Mandatory Offerings , Pay , stay , and pray.
Actually, the COG mantra is "Obey, pay and pray"
Church of God, The Eternal income info, ???????? How to find ????????
No it wasn't. In most countries the RCG was set up as The Plain Truth Magazine.
I graduated from AC in 73, left the church a year later. I don't think AC was a college as much as it was an indoctrination center. First year Bible with RCM ..... no way could you engage in a discussion with him. He would shut down any questions, and you'd be labeled as having a "bad attitude." Can you imagine challenging any of their teachings without being shouted down?
What does that mean? His pay is actually quite low by today’s standards. However, it doesn’t tell the whole story. He has no expenses, the church pays for everything, has use of a private jet, the church bank account for any major purchases, and even food provided for him by the kitchen staff on campus. His low salary is nothing compared to everything else he receives as perks.
It depends on whether COG's release IRS "Form 990." Not many do.

True.....AC was never what HWA wanted it to be....
And regarding RCM....he was eventuallly punished harshly for his heavy handedness..........by exiling him to HAWAI.....harharharharhar

Actually, nck, if you love your job, and have a lot of positive energy coming back to you as a result of doing it, you could be sent to the most opulent setting on the face of the Earth, and because you are deprived of doing what you love, you will be absolutely miserable. No sense of purpose. Of course, you'll feel marginally better than if you were homeless, but you will still be miserable!
Rod was kind of a redneck who always made disparaging remarks about the gentiles, anyway, so being in a place like Hawaii which has always had a lot of diversity would have been oppressive. All those people from different cultures smiling and bidding you aloha and mahalo? It would have driven him up the wall!
This would be his income after his property has been paid for. He also doesn’t have to pay 1st or 2nd tithe out of that income as with all employed ministers
Absolutely! I still remember the time that GF said “HWA wished he had a relationship with his son like GF has with his son, Stephen.” What an arrogant comment I remember thinking at the time. Gerald has certainly instilled a certain vanity in his son.
His pay is not that high compared to today’s CEO’s. However his pay would be higher than what is shown here. He is living for free on the land and housing is one of the biggest expenses anyone has to pay. He also doesn’t have to take out 1st and 2nd tithe from that income like other members on the same income .
"AC was never what HWA wanted it to be.."
nck, nck, how many times have we told you not to worship the man.
Is he the fantasy good father that you never had?
No.... In the PT it said that it was published by AC..... same with the WTM radio broadcast...

If how much you pay yourself for a leadership roll in spreading what you think is the Gospel is the gold standard of righteousness, Flurry earns a better grade than some other folks we all know. But, as my Dad always used to say, you can't compare less bad to bad and come up with good. I hated being a PK, but Dad's concept of relativism wasn't wrong. Just wish he had been better at picking gurus and identifying truth.
BB
Either he or his trained lackeys came up with the analogous term "God's West Point". This was shared with us early on in our Ambassador experience. We were also told that we were the "Cream of the Crud" I really didn't like that name. I thought it demeaned the concept of the real Cream: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, and Ginger Baker.

I love that comment.... A Redneck sent to a "place of diversity" as punishment...
People are starting to get my sense of humor here.....

3:25
I don't care less about HWA....
or any human for that matter.
Your 2nd comment I find interesting.
One of the cathartic insights that made me leave WCG (as one who was birn into it) was the insight that most people "called" into it were from single parent, broken or abusive families..
I found that a distinctive trait.... belueving in God family yet never have known a normal family.
So my educated guess is that you are projecting.....
Nck
Nck, I’ve found you to be annoying at times and potentially arrogant. However, your observation about the type that was/is drawn to the WCG/COG movement is spot on. Many of the people there seem to come from broken home lives and are looking for something to fill that void in their life. The idea that they are going to teach the world the “God family way” is laughable. For the supposed happiest people on the planet, they are mostly miserable. I was also born into the WCG, and my parents never could figure out how to be happy, and yet all my friends in “the world” seemed to enjoy truly wonderful family relationships. Even as a kid I saw the hypocrisy in it.
nck, my comment about Herb being your fantasy father was prompted by the comments on the YouTube.com videos on toxic parents. A common comment is that the grown up children in such households have wept for the proper parents that they never had.
Watching these videos, it becomes obvious that the dynamics in toxic family systems is the norm in the church, with the ministers taking on the role of the family cult leader.
nck is Walter Mitty. Google it.
What did HWA in your opinion want AC to be? Although never mentioning Loma is always a sure sign.
Herbert Armstrong once said that he believed that he had only overcome about 51% of his human nature . And I also remember him basically saying that ( not a direct quote ) if 51% or more of American's loved their neighbors as themselves America would do well , and if 51% or more treated each other badly then America would fall .
So , in light of all this I believe that the reason that some ministers might be abusive is because they are failing to overcome their human nature . And it's also the reason that their is so many people so willing to condemn and speak so abusive of God's man/men , Herbert Armstrong and Gerald Flurry is because their disrespectful accusers are themselves failing to overcome their human nature .
The problem with your logic, 8:32, is that some of us grew up in a toxic environment directly because some entity "called" our parents into Herbert W. Armstrong's church. My parents were pretty lovable and normal prior to that, and then HWA turned them into sadistic monsters. HWA was not a father figure for me!
12:04.......That is correct. HWA also used the example of the man who predicted the stock market crash in 1929 years beforehand. (I'm not going to look up his name.) The basic thesis was that the man did not look at the numbers alone but mostly saw the inherent corruption in the system and its financial leaders and predicted the 1929 fall accurately
nck
Ha! I still do not understand how Flurry could have convinced this Vicki to divorce her husband, and then Flurry married her, contrary to the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:32: "But I say to you that everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery. And whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
Flurry committed adultery in marrying Vicki. And she did too, but then in divorcing her, she committed adultery, and when she divorced her previous husband.
PCG is so far from following Christ that they really should be called Perverts Church of Gerald.
7:45 Yes it explains why people from broken homes, relationships etc become attracted to cults—like I always say the reality never measures up to the fantasy.
Many had insight beforehand and foresaw the 1929 crash unfortunately many did not.
Maybe Vicky will write an expose on Gerald behind closed doors, sort of a "Gerry Dearest" type book. But no joke, I am sure she could probably disclose some embarrassing stuff on Flurry and his henchmen.
Reading some letters from the Exit & Support website, I was reading where Flurry had paid to have Michael Flatley to tutor and teach I guess you would say Flurry's grandson in Irish Dance. This sounds of misappropriation of funds although that would be nothing new in the ACoGs. There is no telling the amount of $$$ HWA and others have spent on themselves.
The dance thingie is actually attracting more attention to the Flurry family than the Armstrong half a gospel Gerald preaches.
I can totally see Gerald giving a sob story sermon about his divorce. How he is tempted and sins like the rest of us and that he took time off from presenting the KOD to pray, fast and repent, blah blah blah. The membership will eat it right up and move on like nothing happened. It blows my mind how members can just sit through a marriage announcement between an 80 year old geriatric and a 50 something year old woman and not raise an eyebrow. I was a teenager when the tape library's were recalled from all local congregations and I was angry and started questioning things. Now there's an Irish dancing troupe, a private jet, Edstone listing, etc., and still they sit through it all with rose colored glasses. The only thing that may shake members awake at this point is when "That Prophet" passes away.
That Arrogant Runt of Sin
Gerald R. Flurry went on to become a gospel suppressing (with his “new commission”), family wrecking (with his “no contact” policy), Jesus' identity stealing (with his “That Prophet” fraud), false prophet (who had to subscribe to Stratfor to try to guess the future) who praised and promoted himself (with dozens of fancy names, titles, offices and positions that he gave himself) until he became the new king of England (in his delusions) and is now wasting his followers' time, energy, and money on Irish dancing.
