James, on the Painful Truth blog, has a letter up from a reader discussing Mother Teresa accompanied by a great picture which is above. I have always been fascinated by Armstrongism's hatred of this woman. That hatred ran deeper than the fact that she was a Catholic. I think the problem really was is that the ministry was horrendously embarrassed that here was a little poor woman doing a great work while they, rich and increased with goods were doing nothing for anyone. I can see why they were embarrassed!
...I was the recipient of a long discourse relating to mother Teresa (MT), where he expounded how FALSE the faith of MT actually was - - Now, this is NOT original, since I remember discussions in world-wide about how MT’s faith would NOT be accepted by God, since she was a daughter of the Babylon Whore, the Catholic church. So, apparently giving up your life for the service of the poor is somehow “not acceptable to God”, even though the bible says “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

The reason churches that depend on prophecy, end of the age, soon issues and it being the last hour have a hard time doing what Gospel Jesus says is because they like Revelation Jesus more.
There is more money to keep with fear preaching than love and grace teachings. The organization needs the money sent in to warn and "do the work," while it will get less if people emphacise more love, service to others and such. They can do that in their own neighborhood.
WCG could have easily set up third tithe for congregational widows at the local level never seeing any funds sent to HQ but that was a lot of bucks they wanted to disperse as they saw fit. The other problem, and it was real , was misuse at the local level. I knew a couple pastors who made up phoney widows and had checks sent to them. Both were Imperial School grads who probably hated the church but enjoyed the schtick.
I worked in 3t dispersal as a Sr. It was generous and helped hundreds for a very long time. I knew no other church to do such things. However, it did leave room for abuse as do most such systems. I did get chewed out for contacting a widow who had a horrible story and trying to encourage her however for some reason. oh well...wouldn't be the last time..lol
Once you get the difference between the Triune Jesus of the NT...Gospel Jesus of love the children, widows and poor, The Pauline Cosmic Gnostic Jesus of La La Land, and the kick your ass Jesus of Revelation, it becomes clear which produces more fear and thus more giving to a central work that can be all huffy and puffy about the soon coming King of Revelation Jesus.

Fear makes more money than love, I guess.
Fear makes more money than love?
Depends on whether your vice is armed robbery or prostitution.
Some mega-churches are raking in a whole lot of money by inviting their congregants to feel the love.
Randie R. Swigler
The United Church of God at many FOT locations gave large amounts of food to local food banks.
There was a TRUCKLOAD of food donated at the Bend Oregon site that I witnessed.
Lifenets, loosely associated with the UCG through Vic Kubik , has been providing aid of all types to people around the world.

All of these are an obvious debunking of the original post
Some mega-churches are raking in a whole lot of money by inviting their congregants to feel the love.
But the mega-churches move people in and out like cattle with parking lot vans, fixed plastic services and empty meaningless money milking ministries.
Yes, they are invited to feel the love alright, but it's appearance. Just how many of the faithful flock do these showmen mega hucksters visit every week?
My friend, waitress at Azteka Restaurants, told of the highly attractive mega-church minister well known in this area coming to the restaurant with what she called "his nazi children". He was rude, dismissive, abusive and left no tip (and she is excellent at customer service). This man is known for his "love". It is just a sham.
And not wanting to leave anyone in favor of me, I will go on to another mega-church minister who started out with a small congregation decades ago. Everyone love him. He told his little flock that he would never succomb if ever his church grew. Now it is a mega-church with 10,000 people a weekend. The minister man of modest means now has a multi million dollar home in the shadow of the Narrows Bridge and has had a similar dwelling for his daughter nearby. But no one dare complain because he is politically well connected in the community and if you were to become an irritant, you would be harshly dealt with as some have already found. And, yeah, some have described the services as "plastic".
These churches can invite people to feel the love (because of their fear of being alone) and they will come. The question is, will they really get any?
Those in the leadership of the UCG may support a few extracurricular contributions to help others, but there are two issues.
First issue: Are the contributions from the "tithes" people give -- or are they extra personal sacrifices not actually affecting the bottom line of the church?
Second issue: What about the terrible things that some of the leadership have done to the members of the ACoGs? It would seem that oppressing and abusing people in your congregation would somewhat supplant the efforts to make yourself look charitable to the rest of the world by getting your membership to give extra outside of what they give to the church.
all over the world?
Or mostly to the Ukraine, where there is abundant opportunity to influence the recipients, many of whom are members of the Ukraine Sabbath keeping church?
You may want to reference the Victor Kubic sermon at the Feast of Tabernacles this year.
Charity or peddling influence.
Oh, you know, these things have such intertwined and conflicting motives.
Let us rejoice in the charity helping the poor (and maybe soon, they will become UCG members).
Pure religion and undefiled is visiting the fatherless and widow in their affliction -- and relating to them the wonderful gospel of British Israelism (to get them to keep the Feast).
Well Anon, we have all seen first hand the "love" Kubik pored out in Africa when he filed a lawsuit against COGWA members claiming they stole cattle from Kubiks Lifenets recipients. Instead of suing his "brother" perhaps he should have shown REAL Christian love and forgiveness and bought the COGWA folks their own cows! Imagine that! Sorry, I can't either.
he filed a lawsuit against COGWA members claiming they stole cattle from Kubiks Lifenets recipients
claiming being the operative word.
The facts that came to light were convincing that the CoGWA were acting legitimately.
There have been other court cases over the years where his support (or lack thereof) seemed wrong headed.
The question of Christianity is a legitimate one and the UCG does not always seemed to have abided by the standard.
It's not unusual for churches (mega or otherwise) run by despicable con-men and con-women (like those on mainstream Christian TV networks) to engage in charitable causes.
Heck, even the Rev Jim Jones was once looked up to for all the good works he engaged in.
Putting a portion of a church's assets into engaging in good works is often nothing than part of a sleazy sales con.

Jesus asked, "Why do you call me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do NOT do what I say?" (Luke 6:46, NIV).
Again, Jesus warned that, "NOT everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but ONLY he who does the WILL OF MY FATHER who is in heaven. MANY will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them PLAINLY, 'I NEVER KNEW YOU. Away from me, you EVILDOERS!'" (Matthew 7:21-23, NIV).
This quote of Jesus' reminds me of one pretty, ham-eating, Sunday-keeping girl who liked Christmas, Easter, and even Halloween, and who had the usual weird ideas about heaven and hell (she was going to go to heaven and those who did not agree with her church were going to burn forever in hell fire, and she did not feel sorry for them at all because it would be "their own fault"). She had what appeared to be a wonderful and beautiful way of talking about "the Lord" but in actual practice she did not take many orders from "the Lord." She was religious and wanted God to use her in her own way for her own pleasure and popularity.
Her brother was trained at some "Bible college" to be a "minister," and he was looking for a "ministry." He, too, desired to be special and holy and to do some great thing for God. But ever actually obeying God, or teaching people to actually obey God, was out of the question. That would not bring either the approval of people or the paycheck. In his initial ignorance, he appeared to be sincere. Upon learning a bit too much, and rejecting it, he became strangely weird and angry. He had wanted to serve God in his own way rather than in God's way. This is unacceptable and unworkable. As the Bible points out so bluntly, "all our righteous acts are like filthy rags" (Isaiah 64:6, NIV). When one's "righteous acts" are the exact, diametrical opposite of the will of God, they truly are filthy. And they are acts, by actors. What passes for righteousness in the Catholic church and its Protestant daughter churches is actually sin and great wickedness.
I disagree with the premise of this post. I've heard several UCG ministers speak in positive terms about what Mother Teresa did. And I can't recall any being negative at all.
helping people is good....helping people in the name of a false god, however, is not.
therein lies the difference.
I have heard and seen firsthand that UCG is changing in a positive way. There is much more emphasis on love (agape) for brother and taking care of the widows and others in need. Since the CoGWA ministers broke away, UCG seems to have recovered fully and are now thriving without compromising on doctrine as they were accused of prior to the split. We should all stop being so cynical because of past abuses. Every CoG group will have both wheat and tares until Christ returns. Let's spend more time doing our share and less time criticizing others.
Now, now. I wonder which member of UCG wrote the above propaganda. Holladay? Antion? Kubik? Ashley? Webber? Dean? Is that you?
"We should all stop being so cynical because of past abuses."
Really now. Beware when an abuser asks you to unilaterally forgive and forget. That's code for, "Even though you're upset right now because I've been abusing you, please, be a dove and turn the other cheek, so that I can continue to abuse you in exactly the same way for the indefinite future." In other words, even though we treat you like $#&%, please keep open your minds (and wallets) and continue to let your brains (and money) fall out. We promise god will pay you back. After you're dead. Pinky swear he will!

You can get your hopes up all you want, but there is no guarantee that the UCG will have ANY wheat at all by the time Christ returns. It might be ALL tares by that time.
That talk about "love" while the people actually become more degenerate and abusive all the time is exactly the same thing that these same leaders did in the WCG under JWT until they had destroyed it.
The only reason that UCG bums can say that the UCG is becoming more loving, and has recovered from the latest split, and is thriving, etc. is because they are still the same bunch of outright LIARS that they were from the start!!!
Can anyone tell me anything factual about this so-called "Mother" Teresa? Was she really a mother, or was she just another one of those ignorant women who fell for that doctrine of demons that forbade some people to marry and have children?
After all, one great false religion called the Roman Catholic Church produces supposedly celibate priests who are all too often actually homosexual pedophiles who bugger little boys and want to be called "Father."
I sure hope "Mother" Teresa is not like that. Though, quite frankly, I suspect she just plays with her rosary beads and prays to Mary rather than really doing any real good at all. She might be sincere, but as HWA would say, sincerely wrong.
HWA had set up the WCG to preach the gospel (or good news) of the "soon coming" kingdom of God as a witness to all nations. Secondly, he preached what he called the Ezekiel Warning Message to the USA, Canada, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and the democracies of northwestern Europe. Thirdly, he taught people to obey everything Jesus had taught. HWA never set up the WCG to do what some woman like old "Mother" Tracy did.
If what old Tracy did was the thing to do, then where are the other billion Catholics on earth? Why are they not doing it too? If all churches should follow old Tracy's questionable example, then where are the billion Protestants? Why are they not doing it too? Most of all, where are these blogging idiots who praise her example as the way to go? Why are they not doing it too?
If the billion Catholics and the additional billion Protestants in the Catholic church's Protestant daughter churches are not following old Tracy's strange example, then why do those at the Painful UnTruths website want the WCG people to jump in and follow it?
Those who HATE GOD love to blather away about what those who love God supposedly have to do to please God.
LIKE SATAN, they MISquote and MISapply scripture.
There is a saying that if you give someone a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach someone how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.
Ultimately, the only real solution to man's problems will come in the future when Jesus returns and the law of God is taught from Jerusalem to all nations.
Mother Teresa, is as the late Christopher Hitchens put it… ‘a lying, thieving Albanian dwarf.’”
