God, Miracles, World Events and January 16

There is only one Church of God today who truly worships Herbert Armstrong and everything about him. From building an imitation mini-me auditorium to digging up a dirty old rock and enshrining it a glass case while it rests on royal purple velvet, all because of some silly myth that HWA prayer at the rock.  If PCG had been able to get their hands of HWA's underwear we would most likely see it proudly displayed in the HWA Auditorium lobby.

Here are a few significant things that the PCG claims have happened on the 16th.

January 16, 2010President Obama announces one of America’s largest-ever rebuilding projects in Haiti after a massive earthquake there killed more than 100,000 people and caused about $8 billion in damage.
January 16, 2012European bailout fund’s AAA credit rating stripped after France, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Cyprus, Malta, Slovakia and Slovenia are downgraded.
January 16, 2013President Obama issues executive orders on gun control after the Sandy Hook massacre. Militants in Algeria seize a facility on the Libyan border. Germany withdraws gold from Paris and New York.
January 16, 2015U.S. Supreme Court announces it will hear arguments on the question of same-sex “marriage,” later ruling it to be constitutional.
January 16, 2016“Implementation Day” for Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action Iran nuclear deal, granting Iran $100 billion in sanctions relief. China inaugurates a major global economic entity, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
January 16, 2020Impeachment trial of President Donald Trump begins in U.S. Senate.

So have they abandoned the Bible calendar?
HWA may be rollling in his grave.

A few years back in the Edmond congregation Deacon Rick Rouzer ran off with Sharon Wainwright and eloped in January 16th. It was quite a scandal that they chose that date. Wayne Turgeon took away Ricks “Deacon” title and they were counseled to change their Anniversary date from that point on. The Edmond congregation was a buzz over the fact that they would choose such a holy date for their own selfishness. It was a long time before they got accepted back into the Fold.

Books on stock market timing mention January 16 as a high probability turning point. And there's a reason for it.

It's amazing how much importance they give a dead pedophile.

Of course they are going to continue to try to sell Herbert W. Armstrong as having been some sort of great one. They elevate him above Jesus, although they liken him more to the other two figures of the transfiguration, even though the purpose of that vision was to show that Jesus was to be looked to and listened to above Moses and Elijah. So, upon what does HWA base his church? Why on the law and prophecy. And, he wasn't very good with either, as time has certainly told.

On the other hand, consider how the world looks from their vantage point. They do not believe they are engaged in an idolatrous worship of HWA. They are instead, from their perspective, pursing the adage "follow me as I follow Christ". HWA cited that scripture many times. They worship god but only appreciate HWA - maybe in an odd way. So when they look at this post, they quickly dismiss it. They just think NO2HWA "just doesn't understand us. It requires real conversion to recognize what our attitude truly is." In fact, many of them likely believe that this blog is run by the Dark Side to undermine their perfection.

The Armstrongist view in the residual churches is a product of years of careful, studied rationalization and dissonance reduction - a hardening of belief caused by a kind of natural selection among competing wrong ideas. Short of a miracle, I am not sure how any Armstrongists could be persuaded to rethink the issues. But people would say the same thing about me as a Christian and Dennis Diehl as an atheist.

I have written up a crochety viewpoint. Maybe I saw too much of the impeachment trial yesterday.

You mean much like the world's celebration of Christmas and Easter? They do not believe they are engaged in an idolatrous worship of the sun!

January 16th, 2020 - SQL Server user group meets and serves Torchy's Tacos instead of pizza.
Truly a momentous and stomach pleasing occasion.
Maybe they should have added a funeral cake with 34 candles and invited a PCG minister to come blow them out - but then maybe I was only the one in the group who had ever heard of HWA.
PCG is just not doing their job of preaching the gospel of HWA.
I bet more people know about Linus' great pumpkin....

In the Worldwide Church of God under Herbert W. Armstrong it was taught that the biblical annual Holy Days on the calculated Hebrew calendar picture God's plan of salvation. They were considered to be important.

Now, crazy false prophets like Gerald Flurry try to make a big deal about some other day on the Gregorian calendar.

FINALLY REVEALED!!!

The Real Reason Why Gerald Flurry Loves the Day of Herbert W. Armstrong's Death!

With Herbert W. Armstrong dead and gone and out of the way, false prophets like Gerald R. Flurry can deceive and abuse HWA's followers and edit, change, warp, mangle, and pervert HWA's teachings.

If Gerald Flurry had tried to teach his satanic ideas in the WCG while HWA was still alive, HWA would have put Gerald Flurry out of the church.

Gerald Flurry could not have done away with the Great Commission to preach the gospel of the kingdom of God to the whole world for a witness to all nations as long as HWA was alive. HWA would have known immediately that Satan was behind it.

Gerald Flurry could not have passed himself off as “That Prophet” of Deuteronomy 18:18-19 that everyone must listen to or else God will call them to account as long as HWA was alive. HWA would have known immediately that Satan was behind it.

@7:49 says "You mean much like the world's celebration of Christmas and Easter? They do not believe they are engaged in an idolatrous worship of the sun!"

That's because they're not.

And this thread was made from my comment at the painful truth under hwa still dead.

Also on this day in history January 16th, 1945>
Adolf Hitler entered his Berlin bunker as he sent out children and old men to fight his final battle. The war ended May 8, 1945.

This is a compelling fact that has gone unnoticed. HWA died exactly 41 years to the day that Hitler entered into that hole in the ground.

Someone tell the PCG. They can add it to their list.

"They worship god but only appreciate HWA - maybe in an odd way." This brings to mind the way Roman Catholics explain their veneration of Mary. They venerate, but don't worship Mary. Yet, they bow down to a statue of her. They pray to her. Their explanation is nothing but a distinction without a difference. So it is, to a lesser degree, with those who show respect (venerate) HWA. If they ever place a statue of HWA on the campus of the PCG, who knows what they might do. Why don't we send in suggestions that a statue be made of HWA? His portrait is in a prominent place in a building. Why not a nice statue? Don't they regard HWA as much as we regard prominent heroes in our nations' history? There is probably room in the lobby of the auditorium for a statue.

I always though venerating HWA was a marketing ploy. It's like a toothpaste company claiming that their product has special ingredient X which enables whiter than white smiles.

Is that man , HWA , still alive?

Byker Bob said...

Well, 2:09, it's a proven fact, and not just hype, that venerating HWA most certainly causes a whiter than white world view!

PCG's list is filled with events RELATED to historic moments, but not the moments themselves.

Not the Haiti earthquake, but the U.S. response. (Like anyone remembers that.)

A Supreme Court announcement to hear arguments - not the more important fateful decision.

And the start of Desert Storm occurred 1/17/91, Kuwait time. But apparently only Edmond time counts?!

Look the 16th of January Event is when a snake in wuhan convinced a woman to give a corona apple to her husband against the wishes of con fu tze.

This event is going to take the entire world economy down.

The fact that Flurry did not predict this but instead focussed on trump makes me the better candidate for prophecy. So please send the increase of your wealth from any short positions on consumer goods affected by consumer spending to me.

some other day on the Gregorian calendar

On the Hebrew calendar, HWA died on Sh'vat 6, 5746. This year, Sh'vat 6 will be February 1 on the Gregorian calendar. Now GF can cherry pick things that happened on the Hebrew date...

They had a church wide fast this past Sunday, January 19...becoming a yearly thing. So, with the 16th being just a few days before, there's sure to be some sort of new "revelation" between the 2 dates.

Desert Storm occurred 1/17/91

Although I was out of the WCG, I remembered 1/7/91 would be the end of the "third time cycle". Something related to Desert Storm did happen on that date but I can't recall what it was...

NO2HWA said, "Unlimited news stories happened every single time on the date of January 16. People have been married, children born, people die, you name it and it has happened".

MY COMMENT - On January 16, 2019 I attended a funeral in Maryland. The significance of HWA's death date anniversary never occurred to me. By R/WCG teaching, the person's funeral I attended will be qualified for the second resurrection. In hindsight now, perhaps the significance of these two events occurring on January 16 is that HWA qualified for the second resurrection as well since he was baptized by a worldly Baptist minister and therefore was never converted and never received the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands by a minister of the true Church of God (which at the time was the Sardis era COG7D by R/WCG teaching). Take that and add it to your list False Profit Gerry Flurry!

Hoss 1/23/20 2:48 AM coincidentally Shevat I think is the 11th month so HWA died on 11/6 on the Judaic calendar and 1/16 on the Gregorian calendar. Also, if you turn the numbers upside down it’s 911. Creepy weird huh?! Lol!

Too bad that HWA didn't pass away a few short weeks earlier. Wouldn't it have just been a gas if he had croaked on Dec. 25???✝️✝️✝️

That would certainly be a hot mess for the ACOGs! Worse than catching your wife in bed with the garbage man!

Oops, forgot about that one! This is the 2,000s!

Several months ago, I was instructing a class of plant engineers on the repair of our equipment, and in describing my love for my job, mentioned that at one time, my ex-wife and I had considered working as cross-country truckers. One of my particularly adept students commented that she and her wife had also considered that career. I chuckled to myself as I recalled that, yes, this is the new millennium!
