LCG on how to be "clothed with humility" like they are.

LCG has been setting an example for everyone...

Pride vs. Humility: Today, many groups are busy promoting “pride.” Bible prophecies reveal that people in the last days will be proud, boastful, haughty, and headstrong (2 Timothy 3:1–5). The Bible also states that pride goes before a fall and that humility is a prerequisite for honor in God’s sight (Proverbs 16:1815:3329:23). God says that He looks on, dwells with, and gives grace—unmerited pardon—to the humble (Isaiah 66:257:15Proverbs 3:34). Jesus Christ clearly stated that the humble are blessed, and the Apostle Peter urged Christians to “be clothed with humility” (Matthew 5:51 Peter 5:5). The Scriptures reveal that God used Moses because he was humble and that Jesus was exalted because He humbled Himself by dying for our sins (Numbers 12:3Philippians 2:8–9). While many today are vigorously proclaiming “pride” in their causes, the Bible reveals what God is actually looking for in each of us: “to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8). Let’s focus on these important qualities.

Have a profitable Sabbath,

Apparently Doug and his members still need a lot of work on this point, as he gave them the exact same message in March 2008 and has given it again several more times since then. Wouldn't true humility involve respecting the brethren enough to give them fresh milk or meat instead of recycling the old stuff over and over again?

That's a good start LCG, humility. It's taken them over 25 years.

But you don't come with the attitude of, "we are the only people of God," and still have humility at the same time.

The Bible was written 2000 years ago and earlier. By this logic, reading it more than once is merely recycling old stuff over and over again!

For these cats, choices are always binary. They always miss out on the vast landscape in between i-o. Now for the next few weeks, I suppose that everybody will go around faking humility!

This is an example of society being partial to evil. Pride such as being puffed up is very different from taking pride in an accomplishment. Doug among another's is smearing the latter by associating it with the former.

Deflect! deflect! Not us but them. Quick mock 'em. Does God's word fall on shallow soil ?

Pride looks down on those who aren't as 'spiritual' or 'committed' as they are. Looks at their life through a telescope but others with a microscope.

Humility realises only God knows a person's true motives. Seeks to win people, not arguments. Looks for the best in others. Compassionate and forgiving.

Never be haughty to the humble, never be humble to the haughty. Mark Twain.

I saw a comment here for a post on RCG about LCG and it is so accurate and it so reflects our experiences in LCG that I'd like to quote it here with the blog owner's permission.

Well as for marriage in the church elites our LCG leadership years ago had discussed the idea that only married men could be ministers. Get this, they said it was because married men as ministers with children would have developed compassion since they have wives and children. Well. I've never seen much compassion and humility at all among the LCG leaders and their proxies. Winston Gosse for just one yucky example had given a sermon about how God's shepherds are to be gentle with the flock. Yet this same Winston fellow is bloodie handed and temperamental and violent behind the scenes, casting out both members and even others in the leadership who he cannot control. He's kind of like how Bing Crosby was like that. Just ask poor Mr. James Gin who is a very fine man and his equally fine wife Christine about the LCG leaders like Winston Gosse and others. Then again, Mr. Ginn is a noble man and so he might say nothing. Anyway So I asked the minister in our area about this up coming policy of ministers needing to be married, which i saw as just the other side of the same catholic coin. This minister of ours was eventually himself given the old LCG boot for being in an adulterous relationship with a woman who he considers as his new wife. third marriage for him. Anyway this minister told me that he had heard nothing about such a ministers married policy being discussed at the LCG ministers conference. And yet his colleagues
said that he was indeed there with them at that seminar and taking notes. so what gives? Just more of the same bafflegab from the lovless church of god?

They could never understand the humility of even a Moses, someone who left his high position in the Egyptian ranks, to join his group of people who were coming out of slavery. He left his comfort cushy position to go into the wilderness. They (LCG leaders) would never leave their status to become poor and struggle.

So LCG believes if you're married and have children you'll be a better minister, eh? Ha...better not talk to a PK! Got a minister in Arkansas that's run off two of four kids...the third one would write and sing depressing songs as special music and the fourth is yet to be determined. It's a very sad state of affairs in LCG.

So sounds like nothing's changed over the past 65 years! You'd think that generations of bad feedback would cause the powers that be to make some corrections! Oh, forgot! They rejected the corrections and started their little nostalgia groups where they could continue making kids lives hell. There are numerous unintended (I'm being kind) life-long consequences to an Armstrong life style which the kids will be fighting for the rest of their lives. Therapy can speed the recovery process, but the damage can never be fully reversed.
