"Get Over It and Move On!"

How many times over the years have you been told to "get over it and move on" when you talk about the abuses in Armstrongism.  It is a common catch phrase of those still entrenched in the the destructive nature of so much of the church.  They do not understand that those who have walked free from the abuse, lies and manipulation go through many stages of recovery.

I am on a private Facebook group that is filled with hundreds and hundreds of former COG members who have left the cult behind, but still need to process through it.  It includes kids of  ministers, elders, deacons and even one of HWA's grandchildren.  The stories of abuse these people tell they suffered through at the hands of ministers and splinter cults of Armstrongism are appalling.  There are former PCG, LCG, UCG, WCG, COGWA and people from Wade Cox's and Coulter's personality cults.

One of them pointed out a web site that discusses the snarky saying of "get over it and move on."

"Just get over it and move on with God." We hear this phrase way too many times coming from well-intentioned people regarding our spiritually abusive experiences. It sounds great on paper, but in reality it is impossible. You will never "get over" spiritual abuse - you just need to get through it. For example, a rape victim cannot just "get over it and move on". They need to process their grief, and deal with the pain and emotional trauma. It's the same for spiritual abuse victims. You cannot just stuff it all to be "religiously correct", because it will never go away.

The phrase "get over it and move on" is a term that was authored and abused by authoritarian spiritual abusers to get their followers to turn their brains off so that they won't think for themselves. I can remember this phrase being used on me so many times. Whenever I showed any human emotion whatsoever, I was told to "rise up" and "get over it and move on". I would choke back my pain and grief, and stuff my emotions. While it may be the only way to win on a battlefield, it is simply not a healthy way to deal with all of life's issues. It simply serves to get you to stop analyzing and thinking for yourself.
Let's face it, if there really was a healthy way to "get over it and move on", there would not be a need for websites like this one. In my opinion, you cannot just "move on" or escape from a spiritually abusive experience. You must go through it (the recovery process), and eventually you get to the other side. It's a journey that takes time. The only way to "move on" would be to go back and erase the abuse that you experienced. Since you cannot do that, you just go through it. I think of it as a withdrawal from a dangerous addictive drug.

I have found that before I was able to go through a grieving process, I had to allow myself to become angry about the abuse I suffered. In the group that I was involved with, we were taught to passively allow someone to use and abuse us. Through this process we learn to stuff all of our emotions. This can result in people not allowing themselves to get angry when someone violates your personal boundaries - or when they do, it becomes passive/aggressive. I'm not talking about going out and beating your abuser with a ball bat, but rather, just getting mad enough inside to evict the passivity that we allowed to rule us. This passivity is the force that caused us to not only allow the abuse, but also to stuff sadness, anger, grief, and even our ability to be analytical and skeptical about what we were being taught.

Once we begin thinking for ourselves again and getting our ability to say "no" back, a flood of emotions may come back to us: anger, grief, and sometimes even hate. Anger will turn to grief, and then we can process the grief to get rid of the anger. Tolerance of our abuse will turn to hate, and then we can process the hate to bring about true forgiveness and build healthy boundaries to keep it from happening again. Sadness about being a victim will drive us to break out of our isolation, and we can begin to trust again.

COG Members Can't Wait To Tattle-Tale To HWA

These people sound like they are elementary kids waiting to tattle-tale to the principal.   They are more eager to run to Herb that to Jesus who doesn't give a rat's ass about HWA's books and booklets.

If Mr. Armstrong came back, I hope all of us who have been loyal and faithful will not rest until Mr. Armstrong really knows about these so-called "loyal" ministers of his, who let his works be tossed in the trash bin and then told us to quit worshipping him and forget what he taught us and instead start sending our tithes and offerings to them so they could enjoy the status of still being the top ministers.

It does not take a genius to see who the real loyal followers of Mr. Armstrong are and what he taught. Not only do the true followers believe that Mr. Armstrong was the end-time Elijah but they preserve and hold-fast to the writings and material he left us. They are not relics like one minister seem to refer to them. They are timeless instructions from a real apostle of God!

I believe Mr. Armstrong would condemn these men and would treat them like he did when his son was disfellowshipped unless these men really humbled themselves and came and apologized for turning their backs on him as we see today.

This World Would Have Been Destroyed If It Had Not Been For Herbert W Armstrong

From those crazy folk on Yahoo.  I was going to comment on various things that are absurdly said in the post, but will not.  Just by reading it you will quickly see how delusional these people are.  As usual, no talk of Jesus or anything he taught or accomplished but plenty of slobber for Herbert.

Mr. Armstrong's works have not been canonized (yet) but the office of the end-time Elijah is one of the most important offices in the Bible!

Think about it.

Do you realize if Mr. Armstrong had not performed the work that God and Christ performed through him, this earth would be totally destroyed?!!!

curse = "utter destruction"

Malachi 4:

Ver 4 ¶ Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.

Ver 5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

Ver 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Now, Mr. Armstrong hated hero worship but his spiritual office was crucial and critical to prepare the spiritual temple to which Christ will come to. He truly turned the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers in ways both spiritually and physically.

Mr. Armstrong's office, the end-time Elijah, is TREMENDOUS! Let no one downplay this important fact! Yet, he like the two Elijah's before him was just a mortal being subject to human weaknesses as are we all.

Just a reminder of how much spiritual power he really had and the type of respect his great spiritual office deserves.

God even made many of Mr. Armstrong's enemies submit to him and help him do the Work if you will remember (many finally got too bitter and left)!

But the spiritual leaders we see today, for the most part, divide and get followings of men after themselves and most of them seem as if they could care less if the doctrines they teach aren't totally in synch with the Angel/Messenger/Leader of the Philadelphia Era -- Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong!

Now, we must all speak the same thing as Mr. Armstrong taught (I Cor 1:10). (Has any one listened to his Bible Study lately on I Corinthians?) The only way we can do that is if we all hold fast to the same doctrines that Mr. Armstrong put into God's end-time Church--the exact words of the end-time Elijah and only end-time Apostle--Herbert W. Armstrong!

We all need to get back on track! Time's a wasting...

Philadelphia Church of God: Canadian Members Are Too Stupid To Make A Decision On Their Own About Tithe of the Tithe

Those reprobate folk in the Philadelphia Church of God have been told by Gerald Flurry and crew that they are too dumb to know how to figure their tithe of the tithes.

Canadian members are currently getting raked over the coals because Six Pack wants their money NOW and they are NOT sending it in fast enough or accurately.  Right now the tithe of the tithe money jar is down 44%!  Dirty filthy sinners!

Also notice from the announcement below how Herbert Armstrong is still worshiped more than the than anything else.  Herb invented tithe of the tithe to pay for feast sites he was too cheap to pay for. Because HWA came up with it, it is now doctrinal law written on stone.  Even God in heaven cannot change the doctrine.  Herb said it was a requirement, so it remains a requirement for the PCG cult members.

CANADIAN INCOME
The Pentecost offering was significantly higher than last year causing year-to-date holy day offerings to improve from a 3% decrease to a 0.1% increase. Overall, total donation income is running about 5% higher than last year. However, tithe of the tithe is showing a 44% decrease. Since the Feast is earlier this year, and expenses will be due earlier than normal, please remember to send in your tithe of the tithe as soon as possible. The requirement to pay a tithe of your second tithe is a judgment Mr. Armstrong made that is binding on us today (see Matthew 16:19). If you believe paying the tithe of tithe will not enable you to keep the Feast, please speak with your minister to determine if you would be exempt. You should not make that decision on your own.
