This book is a must read for anybody who has ever been "mind raped" by the lies of Herpes Armstrong.

Alrighty, Cats and Chicks! Cool video, but just be aware that if you watch it, and then go back to youtube to watch some Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lou Ann Barton, or hear the sounds of a '48 Cadillac flathead motor in a '34 Ford coupe, all kinds of tithing lectures are going to populate your personal list of videos to see. Wish there were some way of watching this one-off ACOG stuff and yet retaining the integrity on one's personal interest dossier!

Perhaps this lady is doing a service to people with poor financial skills. I admit not having read the book.

Judging from the tycoons of yesteryear (1st rockefeller, ibm founders, carnegie, or generalising jewish wall street successes) it seems tithing might not alway be a bad idea.

I guess it is in the idea of the beholder and 99% of beholders are perhaps not capable of judging financial topics or the spiritual aspects of economics. Perhaps this lady is of service to the 99% riding the crappy roads of america while protesting taxes.

It has never been proven that those who tithe are blessed by God to the point that after they tithe their 10% they receive more then 10% back. This is a lie!

John Smith hears a sermon on tithing and starts to tithe. The very next week he is called into his bosses office and is told he is getting a raise in pay. His minister mentions Johns raise in his next sermon as evidence that he has been blessed because he started to tithe. It is very presumptuous to assume that John Smith got a raise because he started to tithe. It is very likely that he got a raise because of his hard work and would have gotten a raise even if he didn't give a penny to his church. Yes there are people that "appear" to be blessed for tithing but are actually just reaping the benefits of their hard work and thriftiness.

I haven't tithed to any church since I drifted away from the Radio Church of God.

However, because the psychological benefits of hunting, fishing, berry picking, and mushroom hunting resemble what my religious friends call "spiritual experiences," I do deposit money from co-op rebates, entertainment gigs, and other miscellaneous sources into my hunting and fishing account. Unlike money squandered on tithes, that fund does return material wealth. Since the money for sports equipment and travel comes out of the entertainment budget, any groceries I bring home are entirely free.

at least her bookcase is straight.

I guess she doesn't tithe because she spends all of her money at the nail salon.

What a lot of people don't realize, RP is that tithing originated in an agrarian theocracy. Direct blessings like healthy herds, bagging an elk, or catching a bunch of fish, often seemed as if they were a matter of chance. Rain on crops, and protection from the elements were not givens as is a regular paycheck today. These things were counted as blessings for living God's way.

Also, in ancient Israel, a theocracy, there were no secular government, or taxes. The tithing system was the way in which a theocratic government, its officials, the infrastructure and the poor were supported.

People get themselves in much trouble attempting to draw parallels to today's conditions where even in Israel, the government is secular. Tithing always was based on one's increase. Increase kicks in after bare subsistence income. If you are just barely getting by, that is not increase. Dave Pack's people certainly don't have any increase once Dave gets through with them!

Well, I am not in the business of condemning or attacking people who either by choice or otherwise are engaged in "tithing principles."

As a matter of fact I am pretty confident that the Pope does tithe on his income.

In the matter about "church and state", especially Germany can be singled out as an interesting case.

People fearing whether they are "stealing from God" by repairing the family car should also consider that this car is probably taking them to their respective place of worship or making a buck for that extra service to their church.

It is hard to please God, the Emperor and the Queen of the house.

So while taking the car to repair, also consider cost benefit of that specific transaction and the spirit of your service toward all worthy of that service.

When I was in lcg I used to tithe diligently until it made no sense( third tithe made me suffer, couldn't meet medical bills) I decided to study it over from scratch, what is tithing, who was it paid to, the purpose of tithing and so on. I was shocked to find out how decieved I was after I found out tithing was mainly food and not money. I remember the first time I stopped from paying tithes,I was leaving church and was terrified I would be robbed for robbing God, that's when I realized how brainwashed they had me,I was being psychologically manipulated for years to believe paying tithes is a blessing and not paying tithes brings a curse, however in my case tithing was a curse to me and I had so many blocks to my mind I couldn't except it, I was programmed to always think I am the problem and not tithing. I remember ministers like Charles Bryce, Mario Hernandez and others making bold claims that people were in financial trouble because of poor tithing and some even suggested that you can tithe yourself out of poverty. How manipulative these guys are under the guise of religion, you are in poverty and they are suggesting that you give more money to their organization in order to have more money. I was blind but now I can see, was deaf but now I can hear. Those damn Decievers.

Ernest Martin put the last nail in the Tithing issue back in the 1970s with "The Tithing Question."

"I used to tithe diligently until it made no sense( third tithe made me suffer, couldn't meet medical bills)"

Well you are to be commended.
My message for those engaged in such activity like tithing was that it should make sense.

So how does it make sense to pay for people to be able to go to the Feast and not being able to pay a medical bill with health issues that would hamper you go to a religious celebration yourself.

That is not logical. re: my car repair point.

The last ruling HWA made for the European areas in 1985 was the abolishment of 3rd tithe.
In his advanced age he was aware of the social systems in place for aid and the accompanying tax system supporting such system. Better late than never.

3rd tithe would make sense in the Apalachians I guess.

Nah, Appalachians would just blow it on pain pills. ;)

Hey, nck, it would have been far more impressive if HWA in his old age had realized that Simon Magus didn't start the Catholic Church, that Anglo-Saxons are not really Israelites, and that the end is timed based on world conditions and not math. But, I guess even one baby step for the jowled one was a relatively major event

RSK, Yeah! Quite a situation over there. I applaud the mobile doctors rendering service.
BB, Well that is beyond the scope of the topic. It would be nckian to argue that by choosing tkach as successor he pulled a ralph woodrow on us but, no that didn't happen.

A percentage of the membership rejected their "Ralph Woodrow", just as ACOG scholars still rely on Hislop. Pity.
