Gerald Flurry Looking For Money Giving Members To Join His Cult

As Gerald Flurry begins circling the drain due to ageing and mental health issues, Philadelphia Church of God members are starting to withhold money to many of Gerald Flurry's pet projects, particularly his germ-free airplane purchased for the use of the Flurry family to travel to Irish Dance contests and Edstone, England. After all, COG prophets of the 21st century need to fly in uncontaminated airspace without worldly passengers sitting next to them.  It's not like they have any gospel to take to any nation on earth nowadays.

Like all the other despots leading a Church of God, it is all about money and control.

GF Uses Same Fear Tactics When Money is Drying Up:
December 28, 2018
GF's words are more of the same fear tactics that he uses when the money starts drying up. GF is worried about the dropping "tithes and offerings" from the PCG faithful because of the operating costs of his expensive-to-maintain private jet.
In the coworker letter dated November 19, 2018, he says "We need more donors and co-workers. We need more people attending services in God’s true Church," which are his cash sources. He also says that "…we did have a sharp decrease in donations to the aircraft fund in June. The drop in that special fund was part of an unexpected drop in income worldwide. Everyone responded well in September, but once again we have seen donations to the aircraft fund drop in October." As the money for GF's toy and other pet projects dry up, his predictions about apocalyptic end-time events always increase and become more urgent to jolt the members into opening their checkbooks, whether they can afford to or not. This has been the pattern for years. --M. W.  Exit and Support

In the coworker letter dated November 19, 2018, GF said: "We need more donors and co-workers. We need more people attending services in God’s true Church..."

God's true Church? Where is the proof of that?

If it were God's true Church, isn't it God's responsibility to provide for any increase in members?

Here's some advice for GF from the Head of God's true Church:

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Luke 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Which one does GF love and hold to? God or mammon?
Which one does GF hate and despise? God or mammon?

Does GF think he can have his cake and eat it too? Have both: God and mammon?

Jesus Christ says one can't serve both, b/c no servant of God can/should strive to serve 2 masters. If GF is a servant, then which does GF serve?

Time is telling...

Jesus also said the following:

Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch."

If GF's organization has not been planted by God, then it will eventually be rooted up.

If GF and his organization are actually "blind," then some ditch may be a lot nearer to GF and his organization with its Fear Religion than he would desire, and others may also be swallowed up by that ditch.

Time will tell...

PCG-cult slackers could learn from competing RCG-cult where dazed followers have given all so that the 'mad-tree-planter' can add another 500 trees this year to his botanical wunderland/cult compound - their mad leader having an arborist-complex, in contrast to mad Herbert's edifice-complex?

How is it that Jesus and the Disciples were able to accomplish so much, without begging for money. When it was absolutely needed, a gold coin was found in the mouth of a fish! Maybe Flurry needs to fish for fish a bit more, and quit fishing for gullible naives to empty their pocketbooks on Jets, auditoriums, and "magic rocks" , aka HWAs "prayer rock".

What About The Truth said...

We need... , we need... , we did have... , we have... . Where is the concern for the members who are probably living under a mountain of needs? Inflationary and societal and family and environmental and government pressures are encompassing the majority of the population and in a COG such as this, that puts an extreme religious pressure upon its members via subordination and financial giving and the passed down mantra of "you were only called to do the work", how is a letter like this not laying burdens grievous to be borne?

In an almost new year letter, should it not be written - we need to do better as a church administration and especially we need to do better supporting the needs of our members? The disconnect from the biblical examples by these COG leaders and administrators is palpable unless they would be compared to all of the negative biblical examples.

Since Mr. Flurry has so many needs right now, might I suggest an emergency fund for the plane fund. It is always good to have a plan (fund) B unless you are a member of this particular COG, who most are worrying about their only plan from week to week.

True - but this has been the pattern for DECADES.

Go back and read the Co-Worker letters and find the exact same pattern. GF learned from the master artist. Using the same techniques among the indoctrinated, he achieved a little portion of the same kind of results.

It's the same pattern others in Armstrongland have tried to imitate. You know who I am talking about, and you know the results.

If you "need more people attending services in God’s true Church...", wouldn't a good starting point be by actually inviting the public to attend? And not requiring them to pass an "Armstrong test" during a ministerial visit first?

I am so confused! I thought LCG was the one true church - the only ones doing the work.

How many one true churches are there? I though one meant one.
Where is Dear Abby when you need her?

If Gerald Flurry wants more people attending services in God's true church, the best place he could possibly start is by actually having God's true church. What a shame that he should be reduced to wanting somebody else to have more church members!

R.L, the reason the PCG has that rule established is because if random people come into the church, it creates a hazard for the members. If non-believing family members go into the church, they could convince others to leave the church.

Maybe the PCG brethren are voting with their wallets by decreasing their support for Gerald Flurry's aircraft fund. It's got to be hard for Flurry's followers to support an aircraft fund for his private use when they themselves can't even afford to fly anywhere. Richard

Flurry is delusional if he expects more donors and members. They have been doing downhill for perhaps two decades. How does he expect to turn it around now?

I guess it wouldn't occur to them to sell the plane. That's what other people do when they need money and have things they could get good money for. Are they trying to go bankrupt? Why should other people pay for their poor decisions? What do they get out of it, free plane rides, I think not.

hmmm, guess GF doesn't know that it's God's job to fill the pews, no man can do it.

Notice how they never turn towards God to ask why the money has dried up.
Always the brethren, to fast, put on edge, give more and endure more.
They publically never seem to want to seek God Almighty. His opinion is never sought, not really sought out.

It is very telling. True Christians would surely seek God first. Should not God Almighty's opinion be sought every step of the way?

It leaves you with the thought: is their God really mammon ?
Does God Almighty even know them ?

By their fruits you shall know them.

If their funds are down maybe they should look at cutting back on the salaries of the ministry that live lavishly with no clue to the day to day struggles of others. Also why do they need Edstone,? A castle for Stephen Flurry to live in now that they have the stone and throne there’s no need to be in England.
The members i guess are not buying the new revelation either, they keep pounding it in week after week and it still sounds ridiculous.
A lot of people have left them and a lot more will.

If I were in a top leadership position at PCG, such as Gerald Flurry's son, I would be very concerned. Who would look forward to inheriting this church once Gerald dies? It would be like becoming the last CEO of Sears or J.C. Penney. In the WCG in the 80's, there were a lot of top executives elbowing themselves to the front of the succession line. At the PCG, they might be running in the other position.

More like the surviving officer in line to inherit the Third Reich!

@ 5:35 AM, you need to understand that PCG is a corporation sole. All of its assets belong to Gerald Flurry. When Stephen inherits the corporation, he can sell the Gulfstream and the campus, and have plenty of money to retire on, whether or not he keeps on with the religious scam.

What a bizarre statement. They have henchmen at the doors of church not letting people in.

Years ago when there were about 7,000 people attending with the PCG it was announced that more people had already gone through the PCG (either left it or got put out of it) than were currently attending with it. Since then the PCG has dwindled down some more to about 5,000 people attending with it.

The arrogant and malicious bums that Gerald Flurry set up as PCG ministers when the WCG ministers did not go with him got too carried away putting people out of the PCG just for the thrill of pretending that they have control over other people's eternal lives and can snuff them out at any time just for the fun of it. If they put out too many people they might accidentally squeeze the PCG's income too much. But they cannot resist. They get a fiendish delight out of pretending that they have the power to arbitrarily doom someone forever. Satan's false ministers are such a bunch of jerks!
