Many people are looking for answers that we can provide, but with so many of you out of work, doing our Work of preaching the true Gospel and warning this world of what is to come is a challenge. Though it was not unexpected, we already saw a downturn in income over the last two weeks.Weston is such a condescending man with the stupid things he says that he must think is cute or impressive.
However, I want to be totally open with all of you. We did receive the blessing of a large sum of money just as this crisis was beginning. God knew we would need it, and He provided it. He positioned us to be in the best shape financially in many years going into this difficult time. We also have savings in hall rentals and travel expenses as we shift during this crisis to holding Sabbath services online temporarily. This offsets some lost income, but even with these savings, our reserves could be depleted if this lasts very long.
While we have been abundantly blessed here in the United States, that is not the case for many of our offices, congregations, and members around the world. We expect that at least some of our international offices will need help. We also do not want to deplete our reserves to the point of not being able to take advantage of new doors opening to preach the Gospel. For example, we just signed a contract for a television station that covers Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Morgantown, West Virginia. Both cities have Living Church of God congregations ready to welcome newcomers to share in fellowship with people of like mind. The program is scheduled to begin airing Sunday, May 3, at 7:00 a.m. on WPCW. Please pray that it will provide excellent results.
Because of these reasons, I’m asking that those who are able, those who have regular income and are themselves saving from lower travel costs, to please consider giving a little extra to make up for those who are out of work. It is not reasonable to ask people to do what they cannot do, and we will not employ emotional appeals with sad faces and sentimental music. Instead, I am making an honest and simple appeal: Now is a time for those of us who are still working, or who have much, to make up for those out of work or who have little.
This world needs the good news of the coming Kingdom of God. That good news goes far beyond some sort of retirement in the clouds or some kind of celestial drug trip.
Weston goes on to fail to mention that in his alternate version of a celestial drug trip, his world will be ruled over by LCG tyrant ministers and members. Watching how COG leaders and some members have treated us over the decades, this is NOT something that the public needs to be desirous in joining.

Based on this appeal and my long history with LCG I’ve decided to up my contributions by 30%. If I have done the math correctly that should make it zero. Which is exactly what I give them and what they will get from me in the future.

As a matter of fact, Gerald earns less than Rod Meredith did, and is much more frugal with his church expense account. Some at LCG HQ wish for the good old days of RCM's deep pocket for personal frills for his friends.

Well, what's the problem? Weston did say God provided a "large sum of money." So, what does he need more money for? What if God allowed the living group's work to shutdown; no further money would be needed.
Where is Weston's "faith?" God has provided! Does Weston doubt God's ability to continue to provide $money$?
And that "good news?" What is that gospel of good news?" Something for the living group members only? Is their gospel of a lot of winners, or mostly a bunch of losers and their fate?
I know a relative who will fast with the United group in another week, but for what? Themselves? Get their version of the gospel of good news out?
I suspect their gospels still preach about a Mickey Mouse Millennium with Jesus Christ (another Jesus?) to very soon, imminently, to reign on earth, but that makes no sense when all enemies (last enemy is death) will not have been subdued yet...and Satan is loosed from the pit over a 1,000 years from today to again successfully deceive the entire world's inhabitants!
Fasting? Why do people fast? People wanting to ask something of God, but God says through Isaiah:
"Behold, ye fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness: ye shall not fast as [ye do this] day, to make your voice to be heard on high." Isaiah 58:4
God does not want to hear voices seeking "get for self/selves;" fasting serves another purpose. What about all of those previous fasts? Did God ever answer them, or were the xcog leaders just plain "doing their own will anyway?"
Sometimes it appears xcog hireling/leaders did not learn the lesson of the blind man who said that God does not listen to everyone, and probably especially religious leaders like the blind man was speaking to:

Talk about a grand missed opportunity. Nck spoke about this the other day, a worldwide captive audience, an anxious world gripped in fear for the future and Mr. Weston was positioning his church for the future by trying to SAVE the institution during this difficult time.
I feel sorry for you members of the LCG. You have for a leader nothing but a well dressed cemetery caretaker. Give the man some more money if you want him to continue to do pretty burials.

I know we like to pick on LCG and Gerald for many things. But I would not know how more honestly to ask members of any church to help as they can. Armstrong made you feel like the sky was always falling as he jetted around the world on useless and ego thrilling joy rides.
I'm going to give Gerald an 'A" here for making every good effort to ask, simply, politely and with considerations for the realities others are facing for what would be obviously a need in an organization organized as it is. Aside from other issues, I don't know how one could ask more sincerely without all the hype typical of churches that are suffering through these times.
This no nowhere near many of the Fundamentalist types who every day say stupid things like "I don't care if you're not working. Don't you stop tithing" as some do of late.
Extra money to "make up" for the loss of tithes/offerings from those put out of work... it should be extra money to help brethren put out of work!
If you are a prophecy based church, then this is prime marketing time when the fear factor is high, and people are looking for answers.
If you are a love based church, then you are looking for ways to help your fellow man and your brothers in need.
Whenever there is a serious emergency situation, people stock up on the things which are needed for survival. Under normal situations, this would be called "hoarding".
Those in charge of collectives realize that their organizations are also threatened by the emergency conditions, and sense that they are now actually in competition with the (member) individuals who normally support them for resources needed for survival. Their continued existence dictates that they must verbally present themselves as vital rather than optional, and be very convincing in this, or they will most likely not survive.
So we see that the ACOGs have all become marginalized by the corona virus into a newly optional status, as their members like everyone else are in emergency mode, simply seeking to survive as individuals. The biggest losers will most likely be those splinters who resort to extremes in their requests and demands, those who expect their members to place the survival of a corporate ACOG group over the survival of the individual members themselves. Reality is that people contribute from their strengths and surplusses, which means that in order for a group to survive, survival of the members is primary. These groups might even find it temporarily necessary to assist their members in surviving in order to remain viable so that they can bounce back after the emergency has passed. Do ACOGs even have the ability to comprehend the concept of mutual survival? The new reality is a paraphrase of the old Vidal Sassoon motto, now reading: "If you don't survive, we don't survive!"
The ACOGs are supposed to have a very specifically designated and dedicated fund to assist their impoverished members in times of need. It is called the "Third Tithe Fund". Unfortunately, most of them have usurped this, and have converted it to general funds so that it no longer exists for its ordained purpose. Such greedy usurpers deserve to fail, and not to make it through the Covid 19 pandemic.

HWA would oftentimes have in his letters some great news, news of another door opening to broadcast the Gospel.. Everyone gets excited, then he talks about the poor financial condition and the need for more money. The finale is a guilt trip if you don't give more money. It's an emotional roller coaster ride for readers. Sounds like Weston is doing the same.

These self proclaimed religious "leaders" are the biggest hypocrites of all... they preach about faith faith faith... just have faith! Then they constantly make decisions based on their absolute lack of "faith." If a church member needs help and financial support... they preach about that member needing more faith... and tell them just to work harder at finding a job etc. But when it's about THEM or the income of their human corporation disguised as a church... boy the begging and pleading and arm twisting begins. So to weston and the rest of the phony "leaders"... just have faith and if your faith was strong enough mountains would move and you'd have all the financial resources you'd ever need. Time to live what you preach and time to walk the walk... instead of just all the hypocritical talk.
