Funny , how in the first video, that Pack scoured the Earth to find an announcer that was a "clone" for the late Art Gilmore, who was the announcer for WCG stuff for decades.

I guess that gives Pack "credibility" to be all things Armstrong, even though Art Gilmore (who was a well known Hollywood narrator and announcer) NEVER was a member of the WCG!

Imagine the future this family has being free of the cult, especially their young boys. They have a wonderful future ahead of them. Armstrongism destroys families.

Kevin ran, as did his wife. Good for them!!

They freed themselves from all the abuse and lies. It must have been hard, painful and difficult for them to do that. I can’t even imagine that. But I admire their courage and wish Kevin, his wife and their kids all the best!

Indeed the truth makes free.
So happy to see this family free.
In Christ there is real freedom.
Enjoy life, smell the roses and be grateful for each day.
There are some things we cannot change but lets change what we can about ourselves.
And that changes everythink.Be safe out there folks.

It is good to see that they both left together. How many marriages were destroyed when one stayed when the other left? I trust the didn't throw the baby out with the bathwater and turn their backs on God, also. The fact is, the cult was not a good representative or "Ambassador" for true Christianity. My wife and I made our exodus out of WCG back in 1974.

I didn't like seeing Dave's compound in the background of him speaking. Accusations of Dave swindling his followers of all their worldly possessions was common even back then. I don't mean to be nasty, but he took too long to walk away.

Interestingly during the buildings construction, Dave and leaders in RCG, talked a lot about how these buildings would help "supercharge the work." While I don't agree with this anymore, many of the men at HQ, were looking forward to finishing the building so we could do a "bigger work" with more people, etc... It became clear when the next two were under construction, that Dave had no intention of expanding the work and the buildings and grounds would become the focus of the organization. It took some time to see that but it's obviously apparent now. I know I was tricked. It was just another lie foisted on the membership. The buildings were never really used and even now are largely empty.

I don't ever post here, but I do check in occasionally. I apologize for the rant but this one set me off.

So Sorry, but I don't think this guy should be celebrated here in any way. While it is good that he and his family are out, I think a dark cloud should perpetually hang over him for his part in the lie that has caused so many to remain in the RCG. I realize we all have a personal responsibility, but as an "Evangelist" this man should be held accountable for his actions.

There are several comments here that seem to celebrate how great it is he ran, their wonderful future, best of luck, great courage, etc. As Anon 2:56 said, I'm not trying to be nasty, but its all about them, and their life outside of the RCG. Hurray! They are free! Nice looking family, innocent kids. I am happy for them in that sense.

However, what about the damage this man, and his wife, caused in the 10+ years they were there. They may have been a victims, but in their positions of authority they were also persecutors of the brethren. He was an agent of that manipulative system. What efforts, if any, did he really make on the inside to help people get out when he knew it was a lie? What effort did he make, while he was still there, to repair the damage he personally was responsible for? Or was it all about having a "D-day plan" for him and his family to get out. And now that his family plan was a "success" and he is out, does he feel he bears any responsibility? Does he still fight?

I get it, its a process, it takes time, you aren't thinking clearly, there is fear. But this guy was at the highest level. What about the fear he levied on others?

If this was Steven Flurry I don't think there would be any celebration. He and his family (right on down to the children) have persecuted others for decades. And I don't think if someone showed a fun video of Steven and his family having a good time at the beach anyone here would feel anything but disgust.

Again, its good that they are no longer a part of that system. And to be fair, I haven't read his full exit letter, just the portion shown here. But after a decade of manipulating people under Pack, what is he doing now? Is he just out and glad to be free, or is he atoning for the damage he caused? They left a lot of people behind. What are they doing about it?

If they are doing something beyond "D-day" to finish the war, I would be interested to know, and they should be commended for it. If not, they shouldn't be congratulated here. An average member gets out? Yes, but 2nd in command Evangelist? No.

WHAT ABOUT THE TRUTH said...

Anon. January 12, 2021 at 3:21 PM:

When the post appeared here on Banned about Kevin's great escape a number of years ago, I too was want to rage, and I wrote a strong comment about how selfish it was for Kevin to save himself when there were 2500 people left behind who were being taken down a very dark path.

A great participant in this blog named Byker Bob ripped into me for that comment telling me that Kevin would have to be in a position of strength to "save" others.

Well that is the easy answer and sometimes the correct answer. I disagreed with Byker on his answer because there is ample evidence both in the bible and in the world where in weakness some rose to the occasion and heroically saved others.

Kevin did somewhat rise to the occasion this Spring when the U.S. was in the initial Covid lockdown and the RCG was documented as operating as usual as if nothing was going on. He publicly posted that his Father-in-law was a self righteous one for this type of conduct.

I don't agree with Kevin's comment because we are talking family here and you would hope there would be a future expectation of repentance and reconciliation. There are other avenues that Kevin could have and still could take to weaken the leviathan.

At the end of the day, titles are just titles and people are who they are. Some have a shepherd's heart and others like to continually save themselves.

Anon 5:07 and 3:21

Having not been in their shoes, you cannot possibly understand what it is like to be under the direct manipulative control of a sociopath at rcg hq and the extreme difficulty in leaving. Some choose to leave altogether for their mental health and other reasons, and never look back. People still in rcg have all they need to see right in front of them to make their own decisions. As for those of us who were in higher positions at hq, some of us choose to leave the past behind and march forward in a new life, leaving the nonsense of cog land behind entirely. There is no right way to leave, only the way a person feels is best for them. To heal, some of us need to leave and never look back. Judgment from others is irrelevant to us.

Hey What About The Truth, self righteous much? Who appointed you judge, while you hide behind a pen name? Reveal yourself you person of upright character and as one being beyond reproach.
