Only in a COG...sigh
Only in a COG that has been saying the same thing for decades.
Only in a COG that has never been right yet about anything in prophecy.
Gerald Weston writes:
This generation has, as President Franklin D. Roosevelt said of his generation, “a rendezvous with destiny.” We are rapidly, far more rapidly than many suspect, approaching the climax of the ages. Our world as we know it is coming to an end, but that is not bad news for those of us familiar with biblical prophecy, which is nothing less than history written in advance. As Jesus encourages us, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near” (Luke 21:28). Yes, there is living hope for a better world coming to those who are called, chosen, and faithful (Revelation 17:14).
As Paul explains, “For all who are moved by the Spirit of God are sons of God. The Spirit you have received is not a spirit of slavery leading you back into a life of fear, but a Spirit that makes us sons, enabling us to cry ‘Abba! Father!’ In that cry the Spirit of God joins with our spirit in testifying that we are God’s children; and if children, then, heirs. We are God’s heirs and Christ’s fellow-heirs, if we share his sufferings now in order to share his splendour hereafter” (Romans 8:14-17, New English Bible). Wow! Children of God and joint heirs with Christ! What an amazing plan God has in mind for us (Romans 11:33-36).

Gerald is right about one thing. His demographic consists of people who were alive while FDR was President.
Even though FDR was a socialist who did a lot to ruin the United States, and even though HWA and other COG7 people despised FDR for all he did to turn the United States into a socialist-lite society, Weston knows that a mention of FDR will rally his aging troops, while a quote from Bill Clinton, a far more capitalist and business-friendly President than FDR, those same LCG members would object strenuously.
Uh, isn't this supposed to cause a little something??? Like major attention drawn to the supposedly "true" church, and an attempt to get rid of the ministers and members as if they were the witches and warlocks who caused it all??? At least that's what spiritual super-hero quasi-Biblical figure, "God's Apostle" Herbert W. Armstrong said.
This splinterist preacher stated, "We are rapidly, far more rapidly than many suspect, approaching the climax of the ages. Our world as we know it is coming to an end..."
There are other cog preachers who believe we are in the "beginning of sorrows" instead of near the end. And if you look at the Biblical description of the beginning of sorrows, we have been there for the last 2,000 years. Spinning up current news events, ad infinitum, does not somehow induce the end of the age. What then is the rationale for believing that we are rapidly approaching the climax of the ages? That language has become trite. Apocalyptic Millerites have been using such rhetoric since just prior to 1844. Our civilization may collapse only to be followed by a new rendition. It has happened many times before. I should mention that this "end of the" age viewpoint is not only held by Armstrongists but by some evangelicals. Evangelicals, as I understand, told President George W. Bush that he need not be concerned about policies that adversely affect the environment because the world was ending anyway. Pathology leads to pathology.
Further, "Wow! Children of God and joint heirs with Christ! What an amazing plan God has in mind for us..." This might be a point of encouragement if it were not colored with the "God as God is God" misunderstanding.

How can LCG participate in the "climax of the ages", when it is so IMPOTENT! ??
As if everyone wasn't already nervously monitoring the breakup of Antarctica, I'm sure that everybody in the Southwest is anxiously watching the levels of Lake Mead, and Lake Powell! California is restricting personal water consumption to 80 gallons per day. I'm thinking good luck with that! We're living in times when people won't even take their vaccines, wear a mask, or modify their behavior in any other ways to prevent the spread of a killer disease!
Re: graphics. Now, there's the solution! If these charlatans were into the Grateful Dead, there wouldn't be all the toxicity that has always been part of Armstrongism.
