Should You Trust Scripture Twisting Crackpot Prophets When They Bloviate About The End Times???

Oh, glory hallelujah and cue the heavenly trumpets—because God's supreme, doubly-blessed, naturopathy-degreed gift to prophecy, the incomparable Dr. Bob Thiel of the improperly named "continuing" Church of God, has mercifully descended from his COGwriter throne just in time for the end-of-2025 festivities to enlighten those bland, lukewarm, sabbath-keepers and a few mainstream Christians with his latest blockbuster saga of cataclysmic doom barreling toward the fan like a divine freight train.

Just like the legendary Armstrongist apocalypse aficionados—who've been nailing zero correct end-times predictions since Herbert W. Armstrong's heyday in the 1930s with a flawless streak of misses that would make even the Chicago Cubs jealous—our esteemed heroes positively quiver with euphoric glee at the prospect of one-third of wicked humanity getting spectacularly barbecued in biblical judgment. Naturally, because the ultra-pure, spotless leaders and members of the splintered Church of God factions are obviously the most impeccably holy, "real" Philadelphia-remnant Christians ever to tiptoe across this doomed, soon-to-be-charred planet.

Lo and behold, the unbeatable duo of Crackpot Bob and his shadowy sidekick (that ever-present co-host in those epic, marathon-length Bible News Prophecy videos) are back at it, generously gifting humanity their hyper-detailed, blow-by-blow script for Armageddon! As we wrap up December 2025, they're absolutely buzzing with fresh "Countdown to the Great Tribulation" alerts, breathlessly decoding Iran's bold declarations of war against the US, Israel, and Europe (clearly the King of the South rising, duh), pondering why Hindus might cozy up to a European Beast power, dissecting the Abomination of Desolation's potential location, and marveling at BRICS ditching the dollar—all while dropping their annual "26 items to prophetically watch in 2026" list, because nothing says "imminent doom" like another recycled checklist of vague signs that somehow never quite materialize.

And let's not forget the summer's blockbuster hit: that red heifer sacrificed back in July 2025 (ashes collected and everything!), which Bob valiantly debated as potentially counting toward temple purification—despite the Temple Institute nitpicking a few stray hairs—proving once again that animal sacrifices are totes necessary for end-times kickoff, even though Jesus kinda already handled that.

But can we honestly entrust our eternal souls to these self-anointed oracles? Or are they just the freshest faces in the endless Armstrongist parade of "prophets" who've perfected the fine arts of scriptural twister, timeline tango, creative current-events alchemy, and perpetual emotional whiplash to keep their minuscule flock in a state of breathless, tithing-fueled suspense—forever nudging that "right around the corner" apocalypse a few more years down the road while explaining away every glorious flop? Oh, what an utterly flawless, divinely inspired legacy of pinpoint accuracy and humble prophecy! One can scarcely contain the awe at this unparalleled display of prophetic brilliance. Truly, the end has never felt so... perpetually delayed!

Countdown to the Great Tribulation

Is 2026 the year the Great Tribulation finally begins?

Is this is the start of a Sabbatical cycle some have postulated countdowns to the return of Jesus?

Is a Sabbatical cycle or Jubilee year even mentioned by Jesus as a leading indicator of the Great Tribulation?

Jesus, Himself, pointed to events, including some written by the prophet Daniel. If God has placed some of the understanding of the signs of the beginning of the Great Tribulation in the words of Daniel the prophet till the time of the end, what are those signs?

If 2026 is not the year the Great Tribulation begins, could any of the signs mentioned in the book of Daniel begin to take place in 2026?

Could this year be the beginning of the end?

Do you want to know?

In Matthew 24:3 Jesus’ disciples wanted to know.

Of course, we know Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour, but Jesus also told us in Matthew 24:33 that we will know when it is at the very doors!

What about the timing of Armageddon?

Surely you, just like the disciples, want to know.

Watch this video as Dr. Thiel shines the light of Biblical prophecy on the future of the possibilities that await us in the new calendar year.

Listen as Dr. Thiel explains the scriptures that prophesy a seven year (one week) ‘peace deal’ in Daniel, the breaking of that deal, the rise of the king of the north and the king of the south, the Great Tribulation and the return of our Lord and Savior.

The time for the countdown to begin is close at hand.

Will Elton John become a Local Elder during the hundred year period?

Will Bob Thiel repent of the witchcraft he allowed in CCOG, Africa and fire the witch doctors?

Will Dave Pack finally shut up?

Will PCG ministers start a death pool for Gerald Flurry?

Will the splinters that can actually be taken as halfway serious get together in 2026 as the Living United COGaWA?

Will Bob Thiel and Dennis Diehl start up a clinic in Central California called the Thiel and Diehl Center of Naturopathic Medicine and Therapy?

Will Colin Kaepernick join Jon Brisby's COGE?

Will we know sometime during 2026 which will come first, Civil War II or World War III?

In 2026, which one of the ACOG splinters will be using Teslas as ministerial lease cars?

Will somebody actually expose the UCG ministers who write all the blog entries and comments here?

Anyone who is tempted to respect Bob as a prophet need only go back and read his 2012 book to realize that the Petulant Purveyor of Possibilities is a crass opportunist and shallow thinker, and is not in any way a prophet inspired by God.

You'd think that the edge of your seat stuff would be getting old by now even for Bob! These folks don't realize how blind, poor, and pitiful they really are - feeling around in the dark without a clue! They spend all of their time trying to discern the signs instead of living their best lives and being prepared for whatever happens next.

I might add that I believe that Elvis will be found in hiding at Mar-A-Largo in Florida. Trump that Booby Thiel. On a serious note, it’s hard to believe that 2026 is almost here. As a youngster, in the 60s, I watched tv programmes set way in the future, like in the year 1975 etc etc and here we are today. Armstrongism has as much credibility as a pie pork or ham sandwich in a synagogue/mosque today. And yet they keep keeping on with their prediction addiction. The local weather forecast is more accurate than the Armstrong prophet’s. No offence to the weather forecaster.

Bob is the PeeWee Heman of Church of God leaders.

PeeWee Heman

Bob may be many things, but he's no He Man!

Christ told Peter three times to feed his sheep. He did not tell him to fear monger his sheep.

I tried to be clever and googled "English to Swahili" to translate Peewee Herman. Unfortunately, since it is tha name of a person, Peewee Herman translates to Peewee Herman.

Look, you're not showing enough respect. Continuing keeps sabbath and annual festivals and doesn't eat somethings and whatever other practices deemed most necessary including respect to Armstrong it is the one true church - or one of the one true churches. By definition their revealing such most important things should not be mocked.

Herbert managed to keep edge of seat stuff going for 50 years selling tickets over and over again for the same story. But he was a good salesman after all.-

Looks like Bob's "Anthropomorphic God" will be punishing Pasadena on New Years Day! For those totally unhip to the So Cal weather scene, current forecast is 90% probability of rain for New Years Day! Wonder how the parade and the Rose Bowl football game will play out. Bodhisattva, Bob! No meditations on this???

NO2HWA said...

The parade goes on rain or shine.

I work for the Rose Parade and currently serve as chair of the Tournament Entries Committee. We pick the antique vehicles in the parade to carry VIPs, work with all the Boy and Girl Scouts carrying banners, the queen's float, and the two football team floats. This year, I am also working with the Disney entry, characters, and their out-walkers.

Hey NO2HWA @7:49:31…..you work for the Rose Parade. I’ll pray for you lol.
But picking the antique vehicles in the parade to carry VIPs caught my attention. You lucky b*st*rd. What a gem of a job. Beats listening to a sermon from the Armstrong pulpit. Enjoy your parade and those great cars. Wishing all our American friends a happy new year from down under. Stay safe out there folks.

annnnntttt! Wrong answer 5:42! Lonnie and Scout have MUCH more truth! And, they aren't ordaining themselves to offices, taking on grandiose titles, comparing themselves to Bible characters, horning in on tithes, making false prophecies, or calling people Laodiceans. By their fruits ye shall know them.

Sorry Bob, but being a homegrown Indiana boy and soon to be moving back to the Alabama gulf coast, I will be watching the big game!! I will repent afterwards.

The Thielie Bopper is going to really be in his glory as it rains on the Rose Bowl Game! He's going to be savoring that almost as much as he would an earthquake hitting a gay neighborhood in San Francisco!

The '36 Packard, the '32 Rolls, and the Pierce Arrow are most likely all million dollar cars. My uncle's mid '30s Packard had reached the million dollar mark by the late '90s. My own classic vehicles are nowhere near that value, but I would never drive them in the rain.

All the convertibles will have their tops up.

Bob is making decent money at a cushy job. Pretty smart guy.

******
And Peter got the point that Christ told him, and he strived to follow Jesus' example:

1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight [thereof], not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;
:3 Neither as being lords over [God s] heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

Yes, feed God's flock in a proper way, and if they strive to be ensamples to the flock, Peter meant to be good ones, good hirelings, not ones doing evil to others.

Christ also warned about the fleeing hirelings:

John 10:12 "But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep."

Will the fleeing hirelings of the former WCG really be all that caring, or not?

Time will tell...

John

The countdown began 2000 years ago.

I've been around long enough to have some idea how many years this message "we're getting close to the end" has been replayed.

The WCG offshoots would do well to do a review of their own history, and reflect on the accuracy and relevance of this message. I found an old Brethren & Co-workers Letter from 1 February 1960 in which Herbert Armstrong said

"The really BIG work Christ is doing in and through His Church must be accomplished during this decade."

Now 65 years later, I haven't heard any WCG offshoots honestly reflect on how this messaging has been wrong for many decades, and yet it continues to be one of the main storylines of these groups. These groups continue to think they're the only voice bringing the "true gospel" to the world.

Surely it's time for some reflection on this.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, yeah, yeah! And then it disppeared until HWA restored it. We all read those booklets.

Anonymous said...

There are those who believe that after Loma died (HWA's muse), HWA left his own church to do his "Ambassador Without Portfolio" routine. That happened in the 1960s.

Anon, Friday, January 2, 2026 at 4:18:14 AM PST, wrote the following and I will comment with some reflection while using double [[brackets]].

I've been around long enough to have some idea how many years this message "we're getting close to the end" has been replayed.

[[And what was a bottom line? Every passing day we were getting one day closer to some end; however, what end did each of the writers of those messages have in mind?]]

[[What work was being done? God and Jesus Christ are both Workers, and They were busy during that decade HWA mentioned, but what scripture said it "must be accomplished?" They've been busy (John 6:29) with those of God's Church for decades since the day it began with Jesus Christ (First of the Firstfruits as 1st member of God's Church, and other members were added on Pentecost, and later 3,000 more etc.) and for decades after HWA wrote those words. What was the work being done? Was it God's Church, which still has not been fully built/accomplished? Eph 2:10 speaks about the workmanship of God's hands, and God finishes, completes whatever He begins, starts (Phil 1:6; Eph 1:6; Romans 8:28-30; Isaiah 64:8, etc.).]]

Now 65 years later, I haven't heard any WCG offshoots honestly reflect on how this messaging has been wrong for many decades, and yet it continues to be one of the main storylines of these groups. These groups continue to think they're the only voice bringing the "true gospel" to the world.

[[All of those WCG offshoots probably have as many definitions for the words "true gospel" as they do for the meaning of the word "work." They all seem to be very interested in self, and what they think needs to be done by self, to perhaps earn, gain, qualify for some position, mammon, glory for self as part of their "good news;" however, it appears there is a lot of "bad news" embedded within their gospel if one does not get in line with themSELVES.
We know the only 100% perfect human being has been Jesus Christ. Those of God's Church throughout the history of it (Rev 2-3) have been impacted by evils of one sort or another, and even by Satan and his angels, so what "true gospel" do these hirelings of the former WCG within those WCG offshoots really have in mind?
Is it possible HWA and Joseph W. Tkach Sr were both servants of God, and all of the hirelings associated with them were just little helpers to those servants in helping them to complete whatever commission God gave to those servants? Time will tell.

When the Calif attempted takeover of WCG in Pasadena occurred where were all of those little helpers to those 2 servants? Joe Tkach Sr. was very prominent in striving to protect the sheep and facilities. Where were the rest of the hirelings?

Time has moved on, and both servants are dead. It's appointed for all of us. Was there sin in their lives? Yes. Is there sin in your life, my life? Yes. Was God accomplishing His will or not? Was Joe Tkach Sr. the first and only leader of the Laodiceans? There will be no 8th era/congregation.

Do all of these WCG offshoot hirelings, who used to believe God worked through one individual, now think they are all servants of God? What have they accomplished?

As you suggested:]]

Reflection to be continued…

John

John said...

Continuing with Anon writing:

Surely it's time for some reflection on this.

[[Perhaps it is. God no respecter of persons has planned to save humanity and subsequently destroy Satan and his angels. God will not lose one, but has He completed His works (Acts 15:18; Heb 4:3)? Not yet...time is telling.

What gospel do these former hirelings know? Is it the same one that was given to Abram (Galatians 3:8; Genesis 12:3) where all nations/families shall be blessed?

When is that blessing for all families/nations really going to occur? God is working it out. He can't lie. Perhaps God is running a different Plan of Salvation that these former WCG hirelings have not been exposed to yet. HWA did not know all things; neither do we.

When will those former WCG offshoot hirelings accomplish the "good" that was accomplished under HWA? We're supposed to keep the good. Many thought they could/would do better, but time has been telling. We see the "fruits," and the lack of "fruits:" good and evil.

By the way, there is nothing evil about hirelings, but sometimes hirelings do evil things. Many of us have experienced it. What is God's Government? Did we experience that, or did we perhaps also experience some of Satan's government, masquerading as God's Government, operating among God's Firstfruits in God's Church through all of the decades since about 27 AD, and which was predicted to have a 7th era of scattered individuals?

So much for some reflection, oh, and have those 2 Workers been busy or not?

Life continues on and time will tell...

John]]
