UCG has just pulled off a truly brilliant and dangerous move:
Don’t Be a Spiritual Pack Rat!
Is it just me, or do we all tend to accumulate things? Over time garages and closets fill up. There’s even a name for people like that—pack rats.
Maybe you’ve cleaned out the garage before. You haul out piles of stuff and sort through it all, and when you’re done, somehow a few “selected items” end up right back inside.
Spiritually, that can happen too. God calls us to recognize the junk that can accumulate in our lives—wrong attitudes, bad habits, lingering sins that quietly take up space where they don’t belong (1 Corinthians 5:7).
Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread remind us that real spiritual growth requires real spiritual housecleaning. That kind of spiritual housecleaning begins with honest self-examination (1 Corinthians 11:28). Getting rid of the trash isn’t easy—but it’s necessary.
So, let’s take the lesson seriously. Let’s be more determined than ever to clear out what is ungodly in our lives and replace it with what truly belongs—God’s truth, His character, and His way of life (2 Corinthians 7:1).
Steve Myers
- Toss every dusty UCG booklet
- Chuck the entire Herbert W. Armstrong library
- Bin the nostalgic relics from the “glory days” of the mother church
It’s basically a sanctioned ecclesiastical garage sale.
“Honey, the ministry said we need to declutter—start with that stack of old Plain Truth magazines and the 1975 in Prophecy reprint, would you?”
This Passover, they can finally do a proper spiritual housecleaning: sweep out the legalism, the endless qualifying works, the endless qualifying “qualifications,” and—just maybe—turn toward the One they keep claiming to follow. Imagine the shocking simplicity of resting in grace that’s already been given, sanctification that’s already been accomplished, righteousness that’s already been imputed… and not having to sweat 613 new checklist items to try to earn what’s freely offered. Who knew “getting rid of the junk” could end up meaning getting rid of the very doctrinal junk drawer they’ve been guarding for decades?
Getting rid of the trash is painful.
It’s uncomfortable.
It might even feel like betrayal at first. But it’s also the only way out of spiritual hoarding disorder.
UCG just gave its people the biblical green light to do the one thing the organization fears most: actually start following Christ instead of following a 20th-century church manual.
Careful what you preach, folks.
Sometimes the members listen.

So, they've set up a situation which most likely they will need to correct in the future. No need to fret or concern yourselves, folks. It's merely Armstrongism making its own problems so that they can still have something to do with all that authoritah! It's how the old man taught them to roll! Ah, to be a rock and NOT to roll!
Pack Rats? Are those the membership and followers of Dave Pack's Restored Church of God?
Yes Dennis, as well as AC trained ex/ministers for whom human rights are foreign and only an academic curiosity. America fought a civil war over slavery during 1861 - 1865. The good guys won, but the attitudes of slavery persist and have been absorbed by all the international students who attended AC. Which is why the ACOGs teach all manner of dos and do nots, but the right to life is religiously never mentioned and validated.
The ministers secretly believe that they are the Massa's with their members being their rightless slaves on their religious plantation.
Unfair, 6:18. Some were exactly as you say. That was one way of reacting to a corrupt and toxic system. Immerse yourself. Let it corrupt you. Climb the ladder. But there were others who genuinely cared for others, I'm sure tried their best in spite of the savagery of the system, and suffered inwardly because of the strong consciences their mothers and grandmothers had instilled within them at an early age.
During my time at AC, I watched some flaming @$$holes get sent out into the field, and I also saw some very caring individuals be sent out. When I first saw the page listing the abusive ones over at Painful Truth, most of those who made that list came as no surprise. Those whom I'd known to be good benevolent and caring individuals while at AC were not on the bad list. Unfortunately, there was a plethora of "massa" types, and those are the ones everyone remembers.
Here we go again. UCG ministers here on the sly are badmouthing their own church while on their payroll.
Isn't Myers now in charge of UCG Ministerial Services? Interesting his article becomes a sarcastic target of this blog.
As Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread gets closer, as with the days between Trumpets and Atonement as Tabernacles approaches, the ministry rebels from this blog ALWAYS do something to the UCG members in their midst to cause upset, division and sidetrack members.
Prayers from any Christians reading this is much appreciated. It is a very real problem in UCG.
I believe that YOU are a UCG member who comes here with nefarious purposes, attempting to trash some of your own ministers and thus destroy the credibility of your church. You got your little whisper campaign going. Sooner or later someone in UCG will figure out who you are.
I'm not 12:30 and have no idea who that is, and it's none of my business who it is. But i am a UCG member.
Who are you 12:50 to threaten 12:30??? Is freedom of speech a one way street? And so 12:50 how do you explain your attitude of threatening another person for 'trashing their OWN UCG ministry" on a ANTI COG blog???
The only nefarious person 12:50 is YOU. And i'm not 12:30.
Well it seems this blog now is so powerful, it is now threatening any potential UCG members for daring to post a comment. But your not threatening LCG members or Pack members for posting here or Flurry or Thiel members ONLY UCG members.
If this blog was run by ex WCG 1970's members then why are you doing this ? Surely this is evidence alone that backfires on this blog.
When I left the mother church and the CGI four decades ago, I threw out all my PT's and other church literature. I saw no need to keep spiritual trash that was filled with lies and myths that led nowhere.
To 12:50,
12:30 & 12:31 are not the same person.
Everything this trash. Get it?
Funny how you didn't make that claim when posts were made about UCG in the winter.

It is indeed interesting. What we have here are some malcontent UCG ministers who seek to tear down the very church that employs them. They kiss up to him "officially" yet behind his back, tear him down, and belittle him.
Man, lemme just tell you about how hard it is to be a UCG ministurd. There I was, just trying to head out for a nice day on the golf course, and I've got these idiots ringing me up left and right asking about some ingredient they saw on a soup can label or if deleavening should be done only by women. And I'm like... can I please just get a few putts in on the green already? Yall killin me with your nonsense. Call the assistant pastor already. Imma get my game on, collect earnings from the hoez, and get a damn nap in.
Oh, didn't you recognize my tone of post? This is Mom! Get off this site or I will have no choice but to turn you over to the ministers! Sabbath Christians ought not to be participating in a site like this!
There are no ill intentioned UCG ministers here! An Armstrongite cannot repress or disguise his shibboleths. Somebody is making fake crap up, and now invoking freedom of speech. Nobody is depriving you of your free speech, however, from now on, you're going to be called on your B. S. (notice how considerate I was in cleaning that up for you) unless you prove your assertions by naming names!
No idea what you are going on about 9:56.
Nor UCG Pastors and their wives 11:32. Oy Vey!
Funny 9:56 during the last 15 years I didn't hear you enquiring to members how things really where in church.
Well 11:40 here you go yet again !! Desperate for litigation.
How do you know that this blog, with it's two million visitors, doesn't have UCG ministers on here??
Because you have not proven your accusations that they do, 1:11. You just make blind accusations without naming names and expect us to suck it up. You are like the disruptive kid in class that the teacher has sitting in the corner with a dunce cap on! Tell us what posts are written by what UCG ministers and what names they are using. It's a simple request. As the accuser you either know who they are, or you know that you are lying. Which is it? Are you a troll?
@12:30
UCG ministers excel at being on payrolls while starting side projects. Isn't that how UCG came to be? Stay with WCG till the golden parachutes are packed and then jump off and create another group?
Bully beef getting angry. And not for the first time either.
How the vision of having a anti-COG blog, with hand picked cronies and naive newly baptised ones and those in the know, plotting and planning the topics to aide the downfall of UCG, & it's intergation into GCI, has all gone astray.
Cry me a river bullies.
More crap accusations, 12:41! I'm for the downfall of Armstrongism period, as a whole, all of the ACOG splinters. There is none good amongst them, no, not one. What I am against is disinformation, false accusations which some ball-less wonder keeps making, and for which he refuses to be accountable by subtantiating. Cat calls. Drive by comments. Kind of like littering.
And, he's got the gall to mention litigation, not realizing that as part of his deposition, attorneys will ask him under oath to substantiate his accusation that UCG ministers and their wives are writing anti-UCG comments here and then hypocritically accepting tithe based salaries and preaching sermons and sermonettes on the sabbath. So, again, put up, or shut up. Where's the beef?

I did the same about three decades ago. I only kept one booklet—“The Modern Romans.” Being a lover of history, I’ve always found its parallels with our own times fascinating. It’s interesting to see how history keeps echoing itself, even now. I’ve always wondered who actually wrote it, whether there was a particular book they used as a source (like HWA used others’ works eg Allen’s book for “The US & Britain in Prophecy” etc), and if it was better referenced than that one. If it were, I would have loved to have read it for comparison.
Right on, Baby! Finally some common sense. This guy who keeps attacking us and calling us rebel UCG ministers ought to check out Gary's commentary on Afroman, and how he relates to what we do here at Banned!
Expose the jerks! They can temporarily disrupt, but they can't destroy our truths with their conspiracy theories, inSINuations and lies!!!
No, no goalpost moving. When posts were made about UCG in the dead of winter, we waited for you to pop up and tell us it was all because Passover was "around the corner" and you didnt show. It would disrupt your narrative.
