UCG Members Do Not Appreciate Atheists On Their Web Site Talking About Evolution

A few years ago Mario Seiglie write an article in Beyond Today about how you can disprove evolution without the Bible.  Prove Evolution Is False - Even Without Your Bible

Seiglie offers up some rather simplistic "proofs":

Can we prove that evolution is false without using the Bible? Certainly we can! Evolution is a scientific theory that stands or falls on the physical evidence. In fact, one can be an atheist, a person who doesn’t believe in God, and still not believe in evolution!

In order to remember key points that disprove Darwinian evolution—the “molecules to man” theory—we’ll use the acronym FALSE. (A few of these points also disprove the compromise of theistic evolution—the notion that God employed macroevolution over eons in forming the creatures we see on earth today.)
F for Fossils
I collect fossils of what are deemed the earliest type of complex creatures with hard bodies—trilobites. No previous ancestors of these arthropods have been found.
So our first "proof" is that since no ancestors of trilobites have been found, it is impossible to have evolved.

A for Assumption
When there is no real evidence, evolutionary scientists simply make assumptions.
L for Life
The law of biogenesis as taught in biology class states that only life can produce life.
S for Symbiosis
When one living thing needs another different living thing to survive, it’s called a symbiotic relationship.
A good example of this is the relationship between bees and flowers. The bees need the nectar from some types of flowers to feed while these flowers need bees to pollinate them. Both depend on each other to exist and survive. The question for evolutionists is: How did these plants exist without the bees, and how did the bees exist without these plants?
E for Engineering
All living things are exquisitely engineered or designed. Qualitatively, a bacterium is as majestically built for its purpose as a human body is for its function. Yet evolution says it’s only an illusion of design—that there is no real designer behind it. Reality is not an illusion! Living things are multi-functional, which means they do many complex things at the same time, something evolution with its step-by-step process has never been able to demonstrate.

For some reason UCG allowed people to actually voice their opinion about whether they believe din evolution to not.  This did not go over well with the enlightened UCG members. One member wrote:
I am really intrigued by the number of athiests who feel compelled to post on a Christian website,…come on guys, post to any of the suedo scientific sites that will have you. If just looking around doesn’t convince you that a huge intelligence made you and everything you see, there is little hope for you. Incidently, we Christians have the only thing that non believers will never have; a genuine hope for better things to come. The agnostic and athiest world has NO hope of anything other than the forever dirt lunch. For those of you non-believers that are still with me, …hook up with a believer and see if you can learn the world of FAITH and begin to see a future for yourself. No more commentary is necessary,….this has been worn to a nub.

That has to be one of the most embarrassing and pathetic articles the UCG has ever published. They actually think this is worthy of print? Simplistic is right!

Displeasure over dissenting ideas Is to be expected on a forum run by an ACOG or its church members. They are not open to discussion of anything which disagrees with or questions their doctrines. One might think that someone would gently, or kindly attempt to explain to non-believers why the church believes as it does, but that just isn't part of the members' skill set. They learn arrogance, and "my way or the highway" from their leaders, and some would even consider a positive comment on evolution to be an attack from Satan. So, they want dissenting posters banned.

They don't like to believe that God used the evolutionary process as part of His creation activity. That causes problems with their sabbath, and the logistics behind Adam and Eve. So, they use their "gap" theory, in tandem with a theory regarding Satan.

When you "know" it all, challenges are unwelcome, and flatly rejected.

The churches have printed good articles, like on the archerfish, which evolution cannot explain. Having done engineering design, and having a feel for the strain involved, it's obvious to me that there is a master designer. I know I speak for millions with similar experiences.

That's right, folks. Reality is not an illusion.

Remember that, the next time you look out upon the flat landscape, see the sun rise in the east, move across the sky, and then set in the west.

Where did the sun go? Duh, where do you think? It went down didn't it? Did you think that was just another one of those "illusions"? And maybe, you never know, it might need some help to find its way through the netherworld so it can rise again tomorrow. Maybe it needs the help of somebody who's been there, and found his way back again? Do you want the sun to rise tomorrow, or don't you? So don't piss off the guy who makes it all happen. That's right. Be a christian, not an agnostic or atheist. Because reality is not an illusion.

Let that be a lesson to all those who think the ancients were just dumb shepherds!

Oh, also, don't be a Muslim, or a Hindu, or a Hare Krishna, or a Jainist, or a Buddhist, or a Taoist, or a Sikh, etc., etc., etc... They're wrong because they're wrong. Only christians have it right, because Je- um, I mean christ. Wait! No, most christians don't have it right. Je- um, I mean christ waited 1900 years to tell anyone until he found the right pedophile apostle to whom he would finally decide to give the plain, plain truth. Those who follow the right pedophile apostle are the only ones who have it right because they're right. Glad we got that straightened out. And to think people are so stupid as to believe in evolution! This stuff ain't rocket surgery.

To me, it takes more faith to believe in evolution over creation. Thanks, but no thanks, I'll stick with the Word.

We can disprove British Israelism, even without DNA:

F is for Fraud;
A is for Asinine;
L is for Ludicrous;
S is for Stupid;
E is for Error!

Take that Aaron Dean!

The UCG desperately needs to gain new tithers who will help support it's crappy ministers' salaries, boondoggles, etc.
Because about two fifths of the American population believes in creationism- and is therefore a large pool to fish in- this article was a fishing expedition hoping to gain new UCG cult members. Predictably, it floundered.

Funny, how they opened up comments to the "unconverted", yet really only want to hear from those who agree with the article. Commenters who disagree are bullied instead of being welcomed to the conversation.
I guess that's the UCG's version of open discourse!

that was a poor response from the UCG poster...those that believe in evolution are incapable of believing otherwise, until God makes it possible.

not to worry though...the day is coming when ALL will have their eyes opened.

My god, what a silly article.

Couldn't help but notice that, in response to one of the commenters, Mr. Seigle exposes at least one point of his own ignorance, and that in somewhat condescending manner:
"Regarding the sun, you should familiarize yourself with the anthropic principle, which should how many improbable events have to be just so in order to have life on this planet"

When of course the most cursory Google search teaches that the anthropic principle is something much different from what Mr. Seigle thinks it is.
It is not how improbable events have to be to get life. It states instead that any universe that contained (intelligent) life able to contemplate the universe, would by necessity have to fulfill all requirements for intelligent life, no matter how improbable.

In other words, any intelligent life anytime, anywhere, would find (surprise!) that heir universe had its physical constants and initial conditions exactly as required for intelligent life to exist. So it's not a mystery that we find it exactly so.

Big difference there...

You can't prove evolution is false with the bible... One can prove the bible false with evolution n inquiry done well. Bible "science" is lame

Until science can actually "create life" , which it hasn't and has tried vigorously for decades now, we must all confess there is a great mystery here about how life came into being. Science does a very bad job in explaining or even hypothesising first cause , both for life and for the origin of the universe.

Connie,

No problemo.
Feel free to leave me out your will because of all my bad jobs.
I'll hang my head in shame.

First cause? First cause?

The latest cosmological theory is that the universe has always existed. The math checks out better than a "first cause". If it has always existed, perhaps God is an emergent property.

We may never know, but we do know that everywhere you look, as far as we can see, there's cosmos.

Perhaps we just made up "first cause" the same way that the Catholic Church decided that the earth was the center of the universe (and even executed people for believing otherwise).

Discussions on evolution or the bible are endless and deeply rooted in a thousand emotions, needs, prejudices, the need to be right and the fear of being wrong. For me, evolution is a no brained and bible errancy is obvious. Each to their own. I do get a kick out of..."well you'll change your mind when Jesus gets a hold of you."

Preach it Bob! You got slack and they don't get it. That leaves more for us!

Nope, just more effort and work. Because, new information is always coming in. You learn way more by listening than learning by faith. Religous faith is like a box with no more room in it.

How can they prove that JC changed 'their' mind?
Where's the proof? None.
They want you to believe it on the authority of THEIR OWN word!

Atheists on the UCG forum about evolution?

You know, if you think about it, atheists could do a lot more damage by coming on the UCG forum and debunking British Israelism. Let the Armstrongists explain away their false prophecies based on it.

Atheists are waiting... Armstrongists, give your explanations (the atheists need another really good laugh!).

I've always joked that since none of us were there and there were no people present for at least a week, debate on the subject is really not worth getting agitated over. :)

8.50 AM. In high school maths and chemistry, the truth had to be taught, then learned. Recognition came later, if at all, since chemistry is a complex topic.
Are you quoting from a Chinese cookie?

"The truth is recognized. Not taught or learned"

I think he meant something like
"Anything worth learning can't be taught, it must be experienced"
which is a quote by Carl Whitaker.

What does GCI now believe? Evol? Gap-Theory? YEC?

Anonymous said...

I'ts amusing to see so many people "disproving" evolution by quoting a section of one branch of science. Evolution is a theory supported by many branches of science AND observation. While still a theory (no one wad there for all off it), it makes the most sense if you understand the sciences involved. Creationists need to up their game if they're going to use one fraction of science, that they can't even get right, to defeat several.

Science doesn't prove anything, it only probes.

Minimalist asks...
"What does GCI now believe? Evol? Gap-Theory? YEC?"

"They" believe it all. It depends which member you ask, to say what he or she believes.

Some ministers are more bent on certain beliefs than others are.

Most congregations are Sunday-keepers now, tho some are Sabbath keepers filled with people who would punch you in the nose(or at least argue all day about herbie's sabbath laws) .
