God's Word is literally filled with fearsome WARNINGS to any and all who would presumptuously SET THEMSELVES UP as "teachers" of the people, when God has not specifically PLACED them in that office!
THERE IS NOT ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE — ANYWHERE IN THE BIBLE, WHERE A CALLED AND CHOSEN SERVANT OF GOD CAME FORWARD AND VOLUNTEERED FOR THE OFFICE!
Some, however, who are always looking for ways to GET AROUND the set and established ways of their Creator and RULER, want to "have their own way," and so try to achieve their wrong goals by wrong means!
Frequently, some will get a certain "feeling" they are being called to the ministry! Setting their heart on the ministry, they DECIDE God has called them to be His stewards — and try to maneuver THEMSELVES IN!

Notice, they have NOT been trained — have NOT fulfilled the divinely imposed Scriptural qualifications, have NOT been observed, tested and proved by God's true ministers — they merely "make up their minds" and then VOLUNTEER!
Others have a "dream" and then come to the ministers, telling them God is calling them to the ministry! But WHO HAD THE DREAMS IN THE BIBLE? The one being called? Or the human instrument used in the actual calling?
God's true servants are not called by weird dreams and visions which God keeps HIDDEN from His already — called and ordained officers of the church.
A lay member will not be called to the ministry without the MINISTERS being the FIRST ONES TO RECOGNIZE IT — BEFORE THE LAY MEMBER EVER DOES!
But — as is nearly ALWAYS the case when a presumptuous person tries to USURP authority, he repudiates the office of the one in the already — established position, aid accuses that person of having arrogated the office to himself!
Satan "volunteered" to take over the office of God! All the FALSE prophets set themselves up, claiming to be the true Prophets of God!
Any person who tries to arrogate to himself an office of the ministry joins ranks with Korah, with Adonijah and all the false prophets, with Simon Magus and with Satan the devil himself!

My oh my! And this from GTA! Like the old saying goes, “That their own words may be used against them!” If I get this right it’s like he’s basically negating his own father’s and especially his own ministry! Not only that, but obviously what he wrote totally negates Bob Thiel’s claims of being a prophet since he keeps putting forward his qualifications for such, which in truth according to the Bible are no qualifications at all.
And Bob can't excuse this because it was written by GTA -- this was during his "good years".
And the dream of the lady in NZ doesn't count! He said he learned about this after he'd bolted. Neither does the "second part of Loma's dream"!
A true prophet NEVER has to tell others that he is a prophet.
His fruit will speak loudly on this matter.
Thus far, there are no true prophets around on the world stage, as yet. When he comes, all will know.
Joseph had dreams of greatness from God. So GTA wasn't spot on.

Not taking up for Bob T, but this statement by GTA is completely false and antithetical to the Bible. It has been a problem since the time those who became Apostles espoused it. Luke 9:49-50 and Mark 9:38-41. It is the very attitude that keeps these men finger pointing at one another while sitting on their self made pedestals scattering people to the 4 corners of the globe; thus the prophecies of Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
I would not want to be one of these self appointed prophets when the true one returns and says "I never knew you".
Of course, as always, it's all about power and authority.

I remember meeting GTA at a feast site back in 1992. I got a weird vibe from him and still remember it to this day. I can honestly say that I don't believe he was ever a sincere Christian.

Good point, and telling his family his dreams is what eventually led to their fulfillment... but he didn't interpret his own dreams to mean he was to do anything.
Funny. I was only up close to him the odd time, but i had the same feeling. Was kind of like i wanted to be somewhere else. Maybe he would have said that it proves I have a demon haha. I won't comment on whether or not he was converted. I think he probably was, but that is something for God to know.

Still here. The thing is, how many times can we address the different Armstrong issues and still maintain the same amount of passion and freshness? I’m pretty busy with work these days (10 hours today!), but when I do get to visit here, am really enjoying the energy and blood some of the new posters like SHT are injecting into the discussions. I think he’s got the potential to help the people mired in the splinters in ways that I, who left way before the splinters, wouldn’t be able to relate to or understand.
Seems like the whole blog suddenly grasps the urgence of resurgence, and that, my dear friends is a gas!
