Like so many of the conspiracy-laden Church of God leaders right now, Bob Thiel, of the improperly named "continuing" Church of God, has not had the fortitude to tell all of his group leaders to NOT meet during this coronavirus pandemic. He leaves the decision up to the men to decide what is right. Those in Africa think they need to obey their Dear Leader at all costs and continue to meet because he has brainwashed them all to think they are required to meet. Bob needs to grow a pair of man-balls and just say NO meetings until further notice because their health is more important to God than their actual presence in a meeting on a Saturday.
Arrest in Malawi
When I checked the coronavirus situation around the world last Thursday, the WHO said there were no cases in Malawi.
However, apparently the first case came up sometime that day.
As it turned out, apparently the government had decided no religious gatherings could take place without gloves and masks.
We received a report that our host of the Mwanwa congregation was arrested as he was not wearing them as he was unaware of the new rule. Our deacon in the area (Radson Mulozowa) said he had to pay a fine to get him released. We are looking more into this.
However, the fact that governments can declare and enforce various rules is why I wrote before that each local area needed to decide about how to meet and that in many areas staying at home was the most viable option.
Right now it should be the ONLY option to stay home!

Let me guess. This CCOG sub-leader in Malawi had to pay a fine, and has asked Bwana Bob to pay the fine.

Hah! The cornerstone of Armstrongism has always been that ignorance of "the law" (ACOG buzzword for the sabbath, holy days, clean meats, and tithing) is no excuse. For those who believe that the tribulation they've been looking forward to has finally begun, ignorance of or actually ignoring the secular laws which are being enacted to combat it will carry some penalties.

Look for positives! Pathogens aside, this is probably the cleanest air any of us have ever breathed in our lifetimes! Also, you can forget about haircuts for as long as the shutdown lasts. Or, shave your head if that's one of the things your ACOG tyrant forbids. If your wife is playful and adventurous, maybe she can shave her head! Just don't send "Mr." So and So a selfie of you and your family watching his webcast!

Perhaps he should have looked into a lot of things before making such risky decisions.
But then, he may have considered his urgent messages on such hot topics as the prophetic ramifications of 5G too important for the Malawi congregation to miss.
This blog is against authoritarian church leadership - until something like this happens.
Then you want them to lay down.... well, maybe "the law" isn't the best wording for it.
Can you really have it both ways?
R.L. You're missing the point, Thiel's church is authoritarian so if they have services the people are obliged to attend. Therefore the leadership deserves the blame.
If they weren't authoritarian and they still held services, the people attending would only have themselves to blame.

The public perception is that the corona virus is a life threatening pandemic, which hence justifies the draconian response.
I believe that it's true that if society had a stronger sense of rights, there would be less tolerance to the international lockdown. But then, organisations like the ACOGs reject rights, so it's hardly surprising that their members lack conviction in this regard.
In other words, the predators are blaming their victims.
It's difficult to understand why anyone would be worrying about or arguing in favor of their right to infect and become infected during times of a horrible, horrible epidemic. That makes for a really poor test case. When I was very young, prior to modern vaccines, there were quarantines. Health officials literally placed a warning sticker on front doors of homes where disease was present. Nobody mentioned Hitler and "the Germans", because everyone was more concerned about the germs.
But, we see very ridiculous and mind-boggling things happening every day. A local redneck driver from the South using the N-word over the radio during a virtual race? Why, no. Today's modern redneck has greater common sense and compassion than that. The offender would end up being the half-Japanese driver from Northern California. Defies the stereotype most folks would have.

I just went to Lowes today, I can't believe that only half their employees were wearing masks. Whether it's a N95 mask or not is irrelevant.
I wore a dust mask when I went in, not for my protection because a dust mask won't stop my breathing in the covid, but for others protection. If I am infected and I cough or sneeze then the mask would slow down the virus that I'd be expelling.
Just goes to show how selfish many people are.
Hell, I'm in WV one of the states with the least cases.
