(NOTE: I was asked by an LCG member to bump this back up.)
Due to the rapidly declining health of Rod Meredith and the poor health of Rod King, the Living Church of God has added two new presenters to the line up for their World Tomorrow program.
LCG announced:
Dr. Meredith has announced that there will be two new presenters for the Tomorrow’s World telecast. The first new presenter will be Mr. Gerald Weston, who will be the third main presenter for the program, along with Mr. Ames and Mr. Smith. The second new presenter will be Mr. Rod McNair, who will function as a guest presenter. Dr. Meredith asks that we please pray for both of these men, that God will continue to guide them and use them.
Meredith has been well known for his practice of nepotism in the LCG HQ hierarchy. In spite of wise counsel from many, Meredith has appointed Jim Meredith, Rod McNair and others to positions none seem qualified for.The addition of these new presenters was prompted by the ill health of Mr. Rod King and the challenges that Dr. Meredith faces as he ages.
Rod McNair apparently lives in the dark ages where everything that happened in life was attributed to Satan or demons. McNair recently claimed that demons inhabit the bodies of the elderly in nursing homes and demanded than an LCG member quit his job working in a nursing home.
Rod McNair recently ordered one of his members to quit their job at a nursing home where they worked helping sickly senior citizens. His reason? Demons. It is his belief that demons often inhabit the elderly. LCG recommends that its members stay away from people with mental illness and now they have added to that, the elderly. Ironic since the average age of an LCG member is about 75 and its leader, Rod Meredith, is 85. According to sources, this member obediently quit their job immediately after being told to. Most professionals understand the importance of giving a notice of resignation out of respect for the employer and to maintain ones reputation in the industry. But not McNair. This member was subsequently accused of being disobedient to God's ministry by not quitting quickly enough once McNair learned that the member worked a two week notice to wrap up their obligations to the company. The member has now been disfellowshipped.

Shocking. Absolutely shocking, I tell you! Did anyone see this one coming? We've got to find a nickname for Rod. I suggest "Spooky" because it kind of goes with "Spanky".

Rod McNair is a nephew of Rod Meredith. Ames is a brother-in-law.
It's a family business. Weston and Smith won't last.
The leadership of the WCG and their splinter groups have always held tight control over its members and would not allow anyone to challenge them or their views. In light of these stories of elderly people and demons, can anyone in the Charlotte are go to an investigative reporter who might track these leaders down and confront them concerning their views? These leaders can bully their members and as long as they remain protected in their little bubbles, they are safe. But, get a pit bull investigative reporter on their heels (perhaps outside their homes or in the parking lot of the church HQ, they can be exposed for who they really are.
Congratulations on being appointed to preside over a show nobody will watch maundering about things nobody cares about. :)
I wonder if Lil' Jimmie feels jilted. He's made some "powerful" (powerfully offensive to nearly everyone who viewed them) youtube videos for LCG. I'm sure he thought he'd be the perfect man to replace Mr. King.
SIMPLE LOGIC EXERCISE... (FILL IN THE BLANK)
Rod McNair says that the elderly are demon possessed.
Roderick Meredith is elderly.
Therefore Roderick Meredith IS ______________ .
Maybe Rod is possessed himself.
You people also just don't understand. Nepotism is necessary to keep the money in the family.
It's a family business.
The dumb LCG tithe slaves will not believe what I am about to write. All I ask is that you bookmark this post and come back to it after Rod Meredith dies.
A Meredith family member recently told a friend that the Ames/Weston succession plan is a smokescreen, and that Rod has arranged with a lawyer to pass to Jim Meredith the actual control of LCG upon Rod's demise, no matter what the other succession documents may say. The story is that Rod did this secretly so even the LCG's insiders don't have access to the documents that will only be revealed upon his death.
How has Rod done this? Will Jim be the Pastor General or just the guy pulling the financial strings behind Ames and Weston? I don't know. But my source is credible and has been right in the past about some very shocking rumours that have turned out to be true.
For some reason, I just suffered a blast from the misspent youth of my past. Some East LA Chicano slang phrases just popped into my head. Cara de Nalga, and Cara de Culo. Some of my old buddies would be proud of me for remembering these for such an occasion!

Anything on this site is probably a bunch of lies, like all the lies they have written in the past. I guess they learned how to lie from some minister in a COG.
Except for his black hair, the man in the picture bears a weird resemblance to Ted Armstrong. Has he been resurrected? Or do you just have to have a certain look to do TV work?
Anon @ 6:06
If we are all liars here then prove us wrong? Where has any one lied? You apparently must be talking about Rod Meredith and Rod McNair.
I am waiting for you to show us what the lies are.
I think McNair should be called Buffy2 or Buffy the Deuce.
No lies here? Ho ho ho. I have proven lots of the lies already. I guess you are new here.
You say that Ron is going to succeed Rod by way of secret plan to be revealed after Rod's death. Does this remind you of HWA and his death bed succession plan at Pasadena? Might Rod end up pulling the financial strings behind the scenes. Wasn't it Stanley Rader who said, "It's not what you own, it's what you control." And Rader controlled the money. GTA had the public exposure on TV and radio and the title, but SR had the real power. The power is in the control of the finances. As SR said, "I don't take stupid pills."
K-barad.... you might be on to something. Is he garner ted's son?
From what went on in WW you never know.
I like Roddy Mac or the Weasel.
Annon 6:06 stay in your bubble. It's safer there. The truth is painful and shocking. Your ignorance is like a warm, comforting blanket. The truth requires action and it's so much easier to NOT have to act. It's so much easier to sit there, listening to the same sermons about homosexuals, withered arms, Hawaiian exiles and the importance of recognizing your minister as the same authority as Christ. Keep believing that your church keeps the whole Bible. Just be sure you never open it and read it for yourself because then you will learn that they are leaving our some of the very best parts because those parts don't suit their agenda for domination over the brethren. I have seen so many scriptures since leaving LCG that are so amazing. I am grateful that God led me out of that masonic hall where I was dying spiritually a little more each week.
Everything I've ever seen on this site is true. Sure there might be minor details to the story that are incorrect but the stories are 99% accurate.
Are there good ministers in LCG? Sure. But the core is rotten so it's just a matter of time before everything falls apart. They are trying to hold it together with all the sermons about obedience, loyalty and ignoring loose bricks but the writing is already on the wall. LCG is a house of cards.
I like Simple Simon.
He is known for being intellectually DULL. His nickname should reflect his stupidity.
that's the McNair hair, I recognize it. Raymond had the same kind of hair, much superior to the Armstrong hair which is still admirable. How about nicknames mentioning his hair, hairball, bighair, hairhead. He's not Raymond's son, but he does look like a young Raymond, must be his nephew. All these old WCG royalty intermarried and like all royal families who keep everything in the family, the lack of new genes results in certain deficits.
We should ignore Anonymous 6:06 and 12:03 AM. It's just trolling. You can tell by the fact that it merely insults the site as a whole with a charge of lying without refuting any specific lie. Like any troll, it gets its kicks by going from site to site throwing out insults, without bothering to understand the discussion it is interrupting.
Retired Prof:
I deliberately posted his comment. He has done this before and makes himself out to be a fool. If he wants to look like a fool I am more than happy to accommodate him.
I recognize the literary style. That anonymous poster is a "sitting in judgment" type. He, she, or it is active on several of the sites. Makes critical, nebulous comments, and doesn't respond to the discussions that follow. I have never been able to tell if the comments are coming from a pro-Armstrong perspective, or conspiratorial-buff's point of view. RP got it right, he is a troll. Gary also nailed it, the person does make himself look ridiculous, and perhaps his lack of elaboration or substantiation of his claims is indicative of a low mentality.

Anonymous 3:13 is right, Rod McNair is Rod Meredith's nephew. He is the son of the late Carl McNair (brother of Raymond, Marion, and Burk). I was a classmate of Rod's at Ambassador College.
It's sad to see what he has become after following in uncle Rod's footsteps. Rod McNair used to be a genuine, kind, and rather loving individual.
Doesn't seem that Meredith's nepotism has been good for Rod McNair. It's sad, but not surprising.
Rod McNair is the youngest son of the late Carl McNair. I knew him when he was a young child. Too bad he has gotten wraped-up in one of the COG's. He was a good kid. He had a lot of respect for his grandfather who died when he was young. It is hard to believe that he would believe that the elderly are demon possessed. It is sad that he didn't get into a business or engineering career. He could be contributing positively to society instead of being part of an abusive religious organization.
LCG's income is down, down, down.
I predict this change will make it fall even further into oblivion.
The ship is sinking but they just keep playing music on the lido deck like nothing is happening.
Ignorance must be bliss.
Rod McNair is way too dumb to ever have a chance to pass the exams required to become an engineer.
He is perfectly suited for exactly what he is doing. In the business world, he would have to EARN respect with integrity, honor and character. In the LCG he is automatically GIVEN respect whether he deserves it or not because of his position of authority. And if anyone has the nerve to call him on his abusive use of power, he will use that power to stomp them down thereby demonstrating to other potential skeptics that they will be next if they dare vocalize mistrust in him or question his character (or lack thereof).
He kisses RCM's ass. RCM gives him more power. McNair has more power with which he can abuse the members. It's the LCG circle of life.
He's found his nirvana.
Can someone please tell me where God's True Church is today because I just don't see it anymore.
All the COGs are cursed with liars.
Nepotism. Vanity. Racism. Snobbbery. A lack of right leadership. A lack of humility.
I've been looking and looking, and all I see is more of the same.
God's True Church is somewhere on this earth because God cannot lie: the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
God's church is made up of people who are preparing themselves to be called worthy to be the Bride of Christ upon His return. It has nothing to do with an organization, corporate entity or specific named church group. If you are looking for a Godly group, you will never find it. They are all corrupt.
Yes, FedUp. God's true church never was a corporate entity. It resides in the hearts and souls of Christians everywhere. It isn't some kind of human authoritarian structure that you tithe to or obey, or that claims to be the gatekeepers for the kingdom or place of safety. The Shepherd knows His sheep, in spite of what organizations do to us.
Golden Rule, Beatitudes, the two great commandments of the Lord. Fruits, not legalism.

Rod McNair Attempts to Quell Dissension by Telling Members the Rules of Engagement for Disfellowshipment - what a great read! I had never seen this story or its comments before as it was posted before I had discovered this site. I remember that sermon/sermonette and I remember being disgusted with nearly every word of it. That was when I started to wake up from my LCG trance.
Where is God's true church?
It is with those who do this:
"If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."Romans 10:9
3:06 is right on the church is made up of people here and there who feed the poor tend to the sick who have mercy compassion on others, don't condemn or judge others. People who are not afraid to do help their neighbor even if that person might be s "sinner" These people don't need a man to tell them how to act.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking the time to reply and share your thoughts. My heart flooded with feeling when I was reminded that we are the spiritual temples of the Lord.
Just like the Law of Gravity, the Law of Love and its Power has a chain reaction, it pays forward, but if I turn away from Loving, that chain, that path goes backward and takes with it my peace of mind. If I choose rather to hate and alienate then I have opened a black hole into my heart.
I'm wondering, though: what do we do about the Holy Days? Where do we meet? What about the Feast of Tabernacles? Do we keep it alone? :/ That cuts to the heart. That is the sad reality.
Ahhhh, I just hate all of this self-idolatry! I'm at a point in my life, where I've realized it's up to me to do what needs to be done--don't pass the buck along when I can do it myself. :) It's getting to a point that time is worth more than money because the dollar isn't worth much--soon they'll be throwing gold into the streets.
And also, I've learned to only put my faith and trust in God because He can never falter. I'm roaming the pasture, looking for a shepherd, but cannot find one. At least I know there is a True Shepherd; His Truth I know.
What do you guys do about tithing??
I DO believe in Church Family. I DO believe in unity. However, at this time, we're stuck in the wilderness, waiting for the 40 years to expire! I'm looking for where the final work will be done. I'm waiting for the Promised Land, the Place of Safety where me and my loved ones can go.
I wish I could start an association of brethren, where we could worship the True God together! No paid ministry, no fancy buildings, tithing strictly for online preaching of the Gospel. We'd meet in our homes, in our basements, in our (clean) barns :), anywhere. And we just wouldn't care about the outward appearances. I just want to keep things simple. I just want to be like the early New Testament Church! I know the Place of Safety will be like that.
"Can someone please tell me where God's True Church is today because I just don't see it anymore.
"God's True Church" is in Scotland.
Gods true church are those that follow Christ. It is not necessarily a physical organisation.
FedUp, you are facing the same dilemma that all of us have at one time or another. There are a lot of different approaches, and various people on these blogs will try to lobby you to their particular point of view, and sometimes that becomes uncomfortable.
If your conscience is telling you that you need to continue with the doctrines you have outlined, I understand that there is a sizeable group of independent or non-aligned COG members. Basically, many of them "home school" using the facilities available at www.oneplace.com/ministries/born-to-win/. I've been told there is actually an independent F/T site made possible by this loosely configured group.
Others have continued their studies and have transitioned into more traditional Christianity. There is a book you will see mentioned from time to time, "Classic Christianity" by Bob George, and reading it has helped a lot of people. Parallel to this, I'd also check out the "As Bereans Did" blog. The folks over there are a loving bunch, and their materials are well researched.
Bottom line is that we're in an era in which we are all apparently required to take personal responsibility for our beliefs and afilliations. That was probably always the case, but the "collectors" were very persuasive in convincing us that they were the chosen leaders, and then they let us down. I no longer believe that faith can be rooted in a group, or in a particular leader. It is an individual thing, and we can seek and find resources that help us in this.
Best wishes in your further education, and I'd just say continue in your study and prayer. The most important thing is not to let others spoon feed you answers.
BB
FedUp...Like BB said we all have been where you now are at, wondering what to do. What has helped me was simply Google these questions and get both sides of the story, then study to get the truth of the matter. For example, tithing, do we or don't we, and where do I send them. Don't just google "Do we still have to tithe" but ask, "Why we don't have to tithe". You will get a lot of different opinions but a careful study should find the answer you are looking for. I have proven to myself that tithing is no longer required as it once was but this is something you are going to have to do for yourself or else you will always have that doubt and guilt feeling. The answers to your questions are there, but because of the many opinions out there be careful not to just believe what you hear without studying it out. I had the hardest time coming to the conclusion we no longer have to tithe or keep the holy days, and I know many don't agree with me, we all have to come to our own conclusion as to what to believe, aaabut to do it without studying it out is a mistake.
In God's Kingdom (in three to five years), "McNair hair" will be prohibited, due to the many historic herbal hairballs hacked.
Even the hairballs made of HWA's and GTA's pubic hairs puked by Dorothy and many loose co-eds are made pale in comparison to the hairballs puked by Mr. McNair's wife, his minions and his cats.
Gak!
I knew, and I know, because I have a better infusion of the Holy Spirit than most people have.
What a deal! (Only a True Jew would say that.)
One more very important detail. It's a really good thing that God can protect His children anywhere they happen to be. With all of the shenanigans we witness, it just would not be possible to trust ACOG ministers to make the place of safety a safe and humane place.
If conditions in your local area or headquarters appear bad now, imagine your ministers without the Constitution restraining some of their worst behavior!
BB
Apostasy has been going on since the last original apostle of Christ Jesus died. First, there is no such thing as "church" to define God's people. Check the rules imposed by King James with the KJV bible translation. Very few translations got this one right. William Tyndale was burned for translating "church" to its correct translation "congregation", elders instead of priests, repentance instead of penance. Don't believe these greedy peddler of God's word according to their own twisted purpose. The bible has never more open than with the introduction of the internet. Only a lazy person needs a charlatan "teacher" to understand the bible.
Can you even imagine if Rod McNair or Rod Meredith actually WERE Christ's ministers on earth and had the power to decide who got to go to the place of safety and which resurrection you would be in. They are so carnal and hateful. I shudder at the thought. Praise the Lord that He is in charge and rules with equity!
CGI sounds like the best option.
But what I can't figure out is whether or not they believe that God will protect His people during the Great Tribulation.
I know "place of safety" is not found in the Bible, but in Revelation it does mention that God will bring them to the wilderness and protect them for 3 1/2 years.
Why can't the COGs get it right??
Maybe it's gonna take a new generation of believers to make things happen (aka none went to Ambassador College).
The Case Against The Place Of Safety (part 1)
1) There are two groups of people in Revelation 12:13-17. They are clearly described in the immediate context. One is “the woman who gave birth to the male Child”. Every preacher I have ever heard promote the place of safety glosses right over this. At most they give a passing reference to the woman being the church, but they never address how the church could possibly have given birth to Jesus, since the church didn’t exist then. Some might argue that there is only one continuous woman from the time of Abraham down through today. But Revelation 12 clearly talks about TWO sets of people and makes clear distinction between them. The second set of people is “the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Rev 14:12 describes the saints as “those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus”, a nearly identical description as the second set of people, those in Rev 12:17. So, it appears that Revelation 12:17 is the saints (the church) and 12:13 is not. So, who is the woman of verse 13? It can only be the Jews. It was the Jews who gave birth the the male Child; it is the Jews who will be taken to the place of safety. And the church is indeed her offspring. Further, the faulty teaching that the church of God gave birth to the man Child, is made worse by the inference that since only the Philadelphia era of the church of God will go to the place of safety, the Philadelphia era of the church of God must have given birth to the man child. That is stretching the scripture far beyond the breaking point. So, the conclusion is that it is the Jews who will be taken to a place of safety, not the church.
2) The place of safety that the woman fled to for 1260 days in Rev 12:6 is singular, as is the place of safety in Rev 12:14. Yet the church has taught that the verse 6 place was not a single place yet verse 14 is.
3) Matthew 24:16 says “let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains”. It specifically says nothing about those who are elsewhere. Now, who is in Judea now, the church of God or the Jews?
(continued....)
The Case Against the Place of Safety (part 2)
4) The KJV refers to the people of Rev 12:17 as the remnant. The Greek word is not explicit on what remnant means. The concept of remnant in common English is that of leftover scraps after the good stuff has been taken away. However, the Biblical concept is quite different. “Remnant” is referred to as “very holy” when used for the offering portion remaining for the priests. The book of Ezra refers to the returning Jews as a remnant. Isaiah and Jeremiah talk of a remnant returning to the land. Ezekiel talks of a remnant that shall be saved. The point is that the remnant of Rev 12:17 are not some inferior Laodicean Christians, but the choice elect. There is no indication in Rev 12:17 that they are anything otherwise.
5) Revelation 13:7 says Satan shall war against the saints and overcome them, they don’t escape. Daniel 7:25, too. It doesn’t say that some will escape and some won’t.
6) There is a promise of protection for the faithful Christian at the time of the end, it’s just not the place of safety of Revelation 12. Revelation 3:10 clearly says that the faithful will be spared in the time of trial. “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world” This is addressed to the church at Philadelphia. If you believe in church eras and therefore conclude that it is the Philadelphian era that is going to the place of safety, then you confronted with trying to explaining how the Philadelphian era gave birth to the man child. Luke 21:36 also promises end-time protection to those “worthy”, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass”.
Observation: The place of safety doctrine is the Church of God’s own rapture theory that has been invented and abused by church leaders to manipulate people into staying in a human organization in order to be protected during the great tribulation. This, of course, gives more power to the leaders, both in terms of more money and in terms of more personal loyalty. Once this place of safety myth is shown for the fraud that it is, people are then more free to follow a leader because he follows Christ, as opposed to following a leader only to save their own skin.
God will protect many of His people from the coming tribulation by allowing them to die from 'old age' beforehand.
Notice how all of these splinters endlessly talk of being 'nice' to people. By contrast Christ talked about 'beware of the Pharisees.' The bible mentions that 'perilous times will come because men will be lovers if self...' I'm just saying, will live in a toxic moral environment where we need to be self protective and on our guard against heartless exploiters. The churches are walking on the ceiling in this regards. Hmmm, I wonder why?
5:11, there are many people who are going to die off before any possible tribulation! 2016 is Hebrew year 5,777!
HWA fudged the end times for some unknown reason by departing from his normal Jewish "preservers of the oracles" sources, and relying on Ussher's Chronology instead. He then adapted "proofs" such as his supposed allotment of two nineteen year time cycles expiring in 1975, absolute year 6,000 being 1975, which he based, as we already touched upon, on Ussher's Chronology, and finally, on his own interpretation of the times of the gentiles, all supporting his guess of 1975 as the year Jesus Christ would return. When this failed to happen, many left HWA's man-made church, while others simply reprogrammed themselves with the new version of the brain-washing. His successors, as has been documented here, also make prophecies which fail, and then they reprogram whatever members they have left. It is a very insidious process which ruins lives, and enslaves.
So, happy 5,777! It's been over 40 years since the disappointment of 1975, and even though some have tried to convince us that they are Joshua, the ACOGs seem to continue to wander through the wilderness meaning that there is also no parallel between HWA/WCG and Moses and the Israelites. Treatment of the brethren alone demonstrates that Armstrongite ministers cannot be relied upon as spiritual guides, and the false prophecies clearly show that the real end times warning will not come from the Armstrong movement, from its parent organization (the SDAs), or sister organizations such as the Jehovah's Witnesses.
Given this new perspective, the new year may be a great time for everyone who still trusts British Israel/Ussher-based prophecy molds to re-examine their premises, and to embark on a corrected course.
BB
OMG!!!
Did some brainwashed nutcase really just say that the "CGI sounds like the best option."???
May God Bless you guys for taking the time to respond. :)
I have the ears to hear, and I'm trying to be meek to understand the full Truth.
I am trying to work out my own salvation with fear and trembling. I'm trying to let the Bible interpret itself.
Since I know that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, I look towards history to see where God protected and delivered men, women and children.
In my mind, I liken the future escape to how some of the Jews of WWII escaped the death camps by God's Grace. Christians risked their lives and took Jews in. Some were spared, many were not. There's also Cappadocia and Pella, where early Christians historically fled.
I wonder if maybe the "wilderness" will be somewhere near Jerusalem? Perhaps God's people will be allowed in by the world, as if we're just trying to return to our Holy Land, like they let the Jews return to Jerusalem after WWII...?
Which reminds me of the clue in Daniel 12:11-12, "11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days."
Basically, 1,335 days before Christ's Return, God's people will gather together (Zeph. 2:1-3: "Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together,
O undesirable nation,
2 Before the decree is issued,
Or the day passes like chaff,
Before the Lord’s fierce anger comes upon you,
Before the day of the Lord’s anger comes upon you!
3 Seek the Lord, all you meek of the earth,
Who have upheld His justice.
Seek righteousness, seek humility.
It may be that you will be hidden
In the day of the Lord’s anger").
45 days later, the armies will surround Jerusalem. (Dan. 12:11, "And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days;" Dan. 11:35.)
And 30 days after that the Great Tribulation will begin (Rev. 13:5).
Maybe towards the end, God will direct His people to the Mount of Olives, where Christ will Return? Maybe that is when Satan will direct an army to try to defeat us, but then God will open up the earth to swallow the army.
God always Works in an organized fashion for His own Honor and Glory. :) He is the Great Creator, Designer and Playwright.
FedUp,
Several years ago, I purchased a book from the Christian section at Barnes and Noble called "The Rapture Exposed" by Barbara R. Rossing. One of our WCG alumni had recommended it, because the book gives a fresh interpretation of the book of Revelation, one to which most of us had not been exposed in our studies. As I read it, I discovered that the book treats some of the same texts that were used to support our own WCG version of the rapture, ie the place of safety. Basically, the Rapture and the place of safety are both rooted in the same line of thinking.
Also, the scrips you cited from Daniel have been applied by different scholars to the activities of Antiocchus Epiphanes during the intertestamental period, and forced Helenization, and also to the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD, as well as to the end times. It appears that a Levitical priesthood, a temple, and sacrifices are in place just prior to whatever tribulation Daniel is speaking of. This would seem to imply the rebuilding of the Temple, as a prerequisite, a feat which would require a number of years, and the razing of the Dome of the Rock Mosque.
Sacrifices are mentioned in prophecy several times. But, it seems as if the prophets somehow failed to grasp the concept of the sacrifice of Jesus fulfilling the need for blood sacrifice, or the fact that He is a priest of a different order, that of Melchizedek. The sacrifices were part of Levitical law, given for the first time at Sinai, per the words of Paul. Many learned theologians shy away from deducing doctrine from prophecy, because there is much symbolism, and prophecy is just a literary device, an outline of some of the worst case events that could befall people if they don't change their ways. To understand it, we need to understand the history and tradition of Jewish apocalyptic literature.
Anyway, when a person studies alternatives to the British Israel and Alexander Hislop-based Armstrong prophecy mold, it becomes very difficult to believe that we ever really understood Bible prophecy in the first place. This is why these prophecies continue to fail. They cannot be trusted, and they constantly brought fear into our lives. Better to concentrate on a relationship with God, and the good fruits and blessings produced by a Christ-like life, and let events unfold as they may.
Study is great, especially when you get to have the freedom to evaluate and study materials of your own choosing, and not be told what conclusions you must reach, or be disfellowshipped.
BB
Jehovah Witnesses believe that the ten toes in Daniel are the ten tribes of Israel and that the 'little horn' is America. The Nazis would have exterminated them if they taught the Armstrong view, so l question their impartiality. The Jehovah Witnesses have dissident sites like this one that, where former members complain of church abuse. They ain't little red ridinghood. Hmm, they also claimed Christ would return in 1974. This smells of collusion. And not forgetting, they teach that Christ was crucified on a tree rather than a cross, just like the Armstrong churches. In Christs day, and going back one hundred years, the Romans typically used crosses, not trees. Common sense, it's more practical and economical.
The church did bring fear into our lives and no real hope for salvation as we were constantly told we had to 'try to make it into the kingdom'. You could never have assurance of salvation at all and you were always trying desperately to be good enough to 'qualify'.
HWA had very little bible knowledge.
He considered the Samaritans to be a 'sect of the Jews' and thought they kept the law better than the Jews despite Christ telling us they didn't worship God at all. Their false temple and priesthood made no difference to HWA. That should raise red flags immediately.
He declared the Jews wrong on passover despite the fact that the bible itself says you cannot kill the passover lambs until after noon on the 14th and despite the fact that nothing is sacrificed at night. Sunset and after are the time for the burning of the fat from the days sacrifices.
Yet, HWA insisted that Christ should really have died at the end of the 13th and the very beginning of the 14th. This is ignorance of the bible.
There can't be a 'passover' until the lamb is slain etc.
The only passover is at midnight and would last seconds or minutes and then after midnight it is AM and no longer PM.
He hated anything that smacked of Catholicism yet demanded a Catholic Pentecost 50 days after Easter each year except for that one funky year every now and then (because somehow God is unable to keep a holy day inside the proper times).
If that doesn't give the CoG the imprimatur of the Catholic church I don't know what does. Yes, a daughter church.
He invented a marriage ceremony calling for vows. Yet Christ says not to make vows.
He insisted we were begotten despite the bible telling us Christ is the only begotten of the Father.
He declared that Christ's body disappeared after resurrection and that he was now incorporeal despite the bible equating that with antichrist. He made Christ a liar and one who misrepresented himself when he told Thomas "I am not a ghost. I am flesh and bone"
The bible goes on and on about the birth of Christ but somehow in the CoG it is anathema and was never spoken about or taught to kids.
Jewish fables are used to spread hatred of the story.
The list goes on and on.
" The woman is associated with the sun, moon, and 12 stars we see in Joseph’s dream that is interpreted for us by Jacob himself. We know that Christ was born of the Jews and that He will rule with a rod of iron. So we have directly defined for us that:
Woman = Israel
Man-child = Christ
Where does the church fit in? Can we possibly be the woman? No, because the Gentile church didn’t exist until Christ brought salvation to the Gentiles. So how could the church be the woman?
Also, the church is the bride of Christ. Would a woman marry her son? We are espoused to Christ, the man-child. The only alternative is that the church is separate from the woman of Revelation 12, but espoused to marry the man-child born of that woman, the Jews.
As far as being grafted onto the root, which is Christ, there is no difference between Jew or Gentile except that the Jew is always a natural branch grafted on and Gentiles are always wild branches grafted on. This doesn’t mean that we are both the same. In fact the distinction of natural and wild clearly delineates the two groups, yet in Christ they are the same. This doesn’t mean that prophetic symbols for history and the future always connect Israel and the church as being the same. "
OMG! what an unlikely bunch of "take-outs" or guesses about babble verses we have here!
And every one has their brain invested in their particular nuttiness for some reason or other.
My guess is that it will be way more than 100 years til Herbie's crap is gone from peoples' minds.
Maybe a lot more than that! Many who go to great lengths now to claim they are "far from Herbie" actually are now caught up in Krazy Kristian bullshit that's directly related to their brains' association with 'The Boss' : HWA!
LOL, Herbie is still the boss of them!
A loving God would not allow demons to possess old people just because their natural physical and mental strength has diminished. That would be something out of a horror movie. It's no different to saying that demons are possessing babies. God said in Genesis that everything He make is 'good,' hence no demons possessing people just because they are old.
Demons can and do live in humans. Read the accounts in the NTgospel books
