It's another day in our crazy world and the Church of God. Our favorite self-appointed prophet and savior to the African continent has posted one of the most idiotic things possible in the last couple of days.
The Great Bwana to Africa and leader of 299 caucasian members, worldwide, has posted a story about how "pride" is causing COG members and ex-members from recognizing him as a true prophet of God.
The holistic pill peddling Dr. Thiel also drags out Norm Edwards as a legitimate source of information about pride. Norm, as you may recall, set himself up as the great preserver of truth that he supposedly received under Herbert Armstrong. Norm's theology is as skewed and erroneous as Bob Thiel's and Dave Pack's and should not be considered "truth" by anyone. Norm was also one of the failures on the board of Global Church of God where he and the rest of the inept board members led to the demise of the GCG and the formation of Living Church of God. He also set up a community in Point Austin, MI that turned out to a total disaster with backstabbing, property theft, lawsuits, and more. If any of you remember Homer Kizer, he is the one who went after Edwards. The community Edwards set up for recovering addicts always had problems and was always in financial straits due to the fact that none of the COG groups supported him and very few members did. Port Austin is now being used to house Puerto Rican employees of Huron Casting.
Prophet Bob quotes Edwards to prop his crown up with this:
"With dozens of New Testament Scriptures explaining and encouraging the ongoing prophecy in the New Testament and with no scriptures clearly declaring its end, one must conclude that prophets and prophecy are something that God wants for His Church today!""In this 21 st century, most who call themselves Christian neither observe the Sabbath nor seek prophets or prophecies in their congregations. A few teach and practice one or the other. Only a tiny fraction accepts both.
The single biggest difficulty in acquiring any truth, no matter how valuable, is overcoming our own human pride. It is very difficult to accept that we have been wrong about something for many years— especially when we have been right on other things. The lessons of the books of Kings and Chronicles come to mind. Each king’s life is frequently summed up in a single statement— explaining what he did right and where he fell short. If we hunger and thirst for God as King David did (Psalm 63:1; 107:9), we can receive all that he has for us—and obtain a good report (Acts 22:12; Hebrews 11:2, 39)."
"Finally, for members of a church group with a doctrinal statement that is decades or centuries old, growth is rarely quick or even possible. Both religious and civil leaders struggle with prophets today for the same reason they did in the Old and New Testaments. The prophets speak for God, not for the religious or civil leaders of the day. People who always prophesy what the leaders want are probably false prophets.
This writer heard a church leader put forth this argument against prophets in the church: “If there are real prophets today, then we could ask them and know for sure when Christ will come back. But the Bible says that no man knows that time, so there cannot be prophets today.” We should never underestimate God. He is quite able to not answer the questions we do not need answered now. Jesus already explained this leader’s question:
Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:6-8)."
"One of the most dangerous things we can do is begin thinking we already have everything important (Revelation 3:17-19). We must forever be humble before God and realize that He is bringing about His will. He is not there to back up our will or the policies of our church group. He also knows when is the right time to teach each truth to each person. Even Jesus could not teach His apostles everything at once:
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now” (John 16:12)."
Bobiniah Bob continues with more quotes from Edwards (you can read them all here) and then adds this to supposedly impress us with his ungodly self-appointment:
Norman Edwards was the editor for Shepherd’s Voice magazine. He is not part of the Continuing Church of God, where, I function as its human leader (and am an ordained prophet; the only known such ordained prophet in any legitimate Church of God group).
While Norman Edwards and I have long disagreed about aspects of church governance and various matters of doctrine, we both agree that many who are in or claim to be in the Church of God (COG) wrongly do not accept that God has any prophets today and that Laodicean pride gets in the way. We also agree that most have severe difficulty identifying one who really is a prophet because of various unscriptural biases and improper criteria that they have.
Some will come up with their preferred rationale as why not to agree with the position of the Continuing Church of God (CCOG) on these matters. Yet not only is CCOG’s position biblical, it should be noted that leaders in the Living Church of God and/or the United Church of God confirmed to me personally that I was biblically correct on all the above points, despite the fact that their respective churches hold to several of the errors pointed out above. Those who rely too much on a compromised ministry (Ezekiel 34:7-10) to teach them prophecy that is not truly in accordance with scripture need to realize that according to Jesus’ words in Revelation 2 & 3 and Luke 21, only relatively few Christians will be protected from the hour of trial that will come upon the whole world.
As Norman Edward’s article points out, it is scriptural to now have prophets according to the New Testament. But many who truly believe that they live by the word of God have discounted or overlooked what the Bible actually teaches and/or have been influenced by others who have done the same or worse. The COG has at least one demonstrably true prophet today, yet most in the greater COG world seem to be able to ignore the truth about that, like most ignored John the Baptist and others in their day.
Pride is a bigger problem for Christians than most realize.
Bobiniah Thiel is right about one thing though:
15 comments:
My salvation is not dependent upon whether or not I believe Thiel is a prophet (he is NOT). He is a liar. 99.98 % of COG members and ex-members recognize the fact that he has no legitimate claim to be a COG leader. We have enough false prophets already at work in the church and do not need him.
Thiel is so prideful that he won't admit he was deceived by Meredith for 15+ years. He has spun a narrative in which Meredith relied on him for 15+ years before refusing to submit to Bobus and then being struck down by a vengeful Gawd. Unfortunately for the Great Bwana, thousands of LCG members know the truth about the Petulant Prophet of Possiblys, and will never make the mistake of following him.
If I need my humor fix for the day all I need to do is look at Bob Thiel. Has the church ever had a clown like him before?
At least Bobby is funny. Try being a member of the RCG and having to listen to Dave Pack..

No Booby, it is not pride that stops one from recognizing you, but rather SELF EVIDENT COMMON SENSE!

Bob will talk you into buying his supplements. SuperDave may yet talk you into drinking the FlavorAid at your final Passover.
Why does Bob have such a problem getting people to accept that he is a prophet? It is really very simple. All he has to do is proclaim a prophecy. Just tell us what is going to happen in the future. Don’t say maybe, don’t say it could happen, don’t say sometime in the future and don’t leave any wiggle room. Don’t say there will be an earthquake sometime this year. Don’t say there will be a horrible tornado in Texas, Oklahoma or Kansas this year. Don’t say there will be terrible fires in California this year.
All Bob has to do is tell us something that no one knows or could know. Be specific with details. Tell us when and how this news will unfold. It’s simple. Then he would have thousands of followers.

Bob is following the ACOG tradition of believing that it's OK to lie provided one labels it marketing to oneself. For instance, these churches teach that God heals every time, even though a pile of dead bodies says otherwise. Hence ministers are looked upon with awe for their healing ability, and members are reluctant to leave least they lose this so called benefit. Who says that lying doesn't work?
First John 4:1 notes, "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world."
As the books of the New Testament were completed, there would not have been the same need for apostles and prophets to reveal new truth about God.
First, it is still possible God can speak through people in whatever way He chooses to reveal certain information at certain times. This "revealed" information will not contradict what God has already revealed about Himself in the Bible
Second, the need for "prophets" in the sense of those who speak truth to a sinful culture are still of great value.
The apostles warn that during the end times, false teachers will become more and more common and we need to be prepared (2 Peter 3:3; Jude 1:17-18; Matthew 24:23-27). That doesn't mean we should go looking for false teaching. Part of "rightly handling the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15) is studying the truth—the Bible—and not exchanging it for a lie (Romans 1:25).
1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 declares, “Do not treat prophecies with contempt. Test everything. Hold on to the good.” So, whether it is a “word from the Lord” or a supposed prophecy, our response should be the same. Compare what is said to what the Word of God says. If it contradicts the Bible, throw it out. If it agrees with the Bible, pray for wisdom and discernment as to how to apply the message (2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:5).
"The deluded prophet goes on to list 42 points as to why he is a legitimate prophet with the truth. Where would COG leaders and ministers be today without their bullet point lists? Those lists appear because the leaders cannot form concise thoughts into a simple statement."
Shaka Boo Boo Bob is a good example of "He who says, does not know. He who knows, does not say" A small minded man seeking a huge pedigree that he will never find.
BT doesn't teach a seven day Passover feast - Eze 45:21; Luke 22:1, doesn't teach Lev 23:6 is a reference to a one day feast (celebration of the exodus) on the 15th, and eats unleavened bread eight, not seven, days. BT doesn't teach there is no commandment to tithe before Moses and that Jacob and Abraham tithing accounts are not commandments from God to you to tithe. BT is certifiably not a prophet of the God of heaven but may be a prophet of someone else.
GUESSING IN THE SO-CALLED COGS
All the guessing that goes on in the so-called COGs seems to go wrong.
Bob Thiel had thought that Hillary Clinton was going to win the 2016 presidential election. All the demons and pagan prophecies and fake news on television did not help Bob to guess right. His Continuing Church of Guesses just cannot seem to guess right, even with lots of maybes.
Alton B. “Don” Billingsley said in one of his sermons that God had revealed to him that Hillary Clinton was going to win the 2016 presidential election. When that did not happen, Alton said that President Donald Trump was going to help to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem but would then get removed from office and replaced by Hillary Clinton. Will Alton's Church of Guesses - Faithful Fools get even smaller now?
Norbert Link had predicted that President Donald Trump would help to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem. Norbert Link said that he had predicted that Donald Trump would win in 2016 and was predicting another Trump win in 2020. Norbert Link mentioned in one of his videos that someone had cautioned him not to be so sure that Trump would win the presidency again in 2020 lest Norbert get egg on his face, but Norbert brushed it off (the caution, that is, not the egg yet) and confidently said that Trump would win. Will members of the Church of the Eternal Guesses leave now or get strung along for Trump 2024? You never know for sure, right?
Gerald Flurry had made up a ridiculous load of nonsense about how President Trump was going to expel Philadelphia Church of Fraud members from the USA. Now they will have to wait for Trump 2024 for that to happen. The “short work” that Gerald was going to do just got hit with more delays. Always delays. And then more delays. And then even more delays.
My guess is that President Trump might have won the 2020 presidential election if it had not been for all these always wrong guessers guessing that he would win. Well, maybe that and possibly some “voting irregularities.”

The three zooms of Passover are:
(1) Passover “Between the evenings” or ben ha arbayim: “and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening” (Exodus 12:6). “Ba·erev” “thou shalt sacrifice the Passover at even” (Deuteronomy 16:6);
(2) Passover on a day: “And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month,” (Exodus 12:6, Numbers 28:16);
(3) Passover as a season, or the Passover season, which includes identifying the lamb on the tenth of Nisan, the killing of the Passover lamb on the fourteenth, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread: One month generally: “Let the children of Israel also keep the Passover at his appointed season” (Numbers 9:2, Exodus 12).
What prophesies has Dr.Thiel made accurately?
Have any COG ministers recognized that the King Of The South struck on Sept.11, 2001?
Then it is clear when the North sweeps down and takes many nations. The Arab Spring (in disguise).
Bobus H Sheist notes: " I function as its human leader (and am an ordained prophet; the only known such ordained prophet in any legitimate Church of God group)"
