Restored Church of God: Dr. James F. Pastor, Chief RCG Legal Counsel, and Rose Ann Pastor, Leaves David C. Pack’s Group

From an RCG source:

Dr. James F. Pastor, Chief RCG Legal Counsel, and Rose Ann Pastor, Leaves David C. Pack’s Group

As RCG passes part 290 in Dave Pack’s prophetic sermon series, reports are coming out almost weekly that increasingly more are abandoning ship. Several key people have left in recent weeks.

One notable recent departure is Dr. James F. Pastor, and his wife Rose Ann. Most recently, James served as the General Counsel & Director of Risk Management. Rose Ann filled the role of Campus Administrator at the nearly-defunct Ambassador Center. Prior to James having a fallout with Dave, Jim was also the Business Office manager, among other key roles. He also taught at “AC” (see inset photo).

Sadly, James and Rose Ann are perhaps some of the more professionally accomplished people to have been duped by Dave Pack. Jim is an author and an expert in his field (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_F._Pastor) and Rose Ann has two Master's degrees. Thankfully, they finally saw the deception of the man.

Other recent notable departures include Wayne and Dale Caudill of HQ, as well as Brent and Elizabeth Garrison, pastors of the Kentucky area.

All of these (and others) add to the mounting list of 140+ staff members (The 140 Ex-Employees of David C. Pack and the Restored Church of God) and scores of ministers who all stand as a testimony and witness...they have all had their scales fall off and now see the falsehood of David C. Pack.

The ship is sinking. It's not a matter of if, but when.

WHAT ABOUT THE TRUTH said...

I recall an offertory given by Dr. Pastor where he detailed how he and his wife sacrificed through hard work and long hours to advance themselves in this life. He went on to say how he and his wife "downsized" their physical presence according to Mr. Pack's "Common" desire and for the "great work" that was just on the horizon.

A potential feelgood story of two people who through direct giving and the forfeiture of substantial possible earnings by serving Mr. Pack, probably truly gave more than all.

Hopefully it has sunk in thoroughly, that the the man that they sat before day after day after day, had only one goal in mind. That man's goal was to build an outsized persona through an outrageous land and building splendor, to continually reinforce and elevate his ego, and to continually verbally establish himself as some super avatar or deity depending how you look at it.

For Mr. Pack to accomplish all of this requires the downsizing of all humanity in his presence. Most importantly is the forced downsizing of ones mind that is absolutely required to be in this man's greater reach. A downsized mind was never the goal of Christianity in the least. Hopefully Dr. Pastor and his wife will use this out of context scripture in Luke 4:23 and move on to great things: "physician, heal thyself"!

Like rats leaving the pack (yes, pun intended).

Poor Dave. Looking at his ever dwindling income. Imagine the panic attacks he must have right now!

Isn’t there a kiddies song about that somewhere? One after the other leaving, or falling of something?

Did you see what the pathetic narcissist Bob Thiel had to say about this post?

"Since Banned is often NOT a reliable source, I did take steps to confirm Dr. Pastor held the position and presume he has left. "

ROTLMAO! Thiel just can not stand the fact that exRCG people are keeping this blog attuned to the disintegration of the Restored Church of God and are NOT reporting this information to him. Pathetic Bob said he had to verify they information. He got his ass handed to him and had to admit that Banned scooped him. For once he said where he got his information instead of stealing it like he has done in the past.

Wikipedia has a page on him and mentions the RCG also. But Wiki calls the RCG “a fundamentalist group” (and not a church).

Ain’t that fun! Finally Wiki has it right.

In my experience, both inside and outside the COG's, I found that Banned's reporting on my group (RCG) is almost 100% accurate. At least it is far more accurate than the information coming out of the RCG. At this site, it is the only place where information is posted generally without filtering. Direct quotes from the sermons are posted, information on those who leave is all reported. Do the posters have a bias? Of course, but is the information reliable, so far it has been.

Compare that to RCG, quotes from the sermons are spun or deleted. When people leave, they are erased from the RCG website and never mentioned again (except when they come up in DCP sermons and he attacks their character without naming them). All the information is carefully filtered coming out of the group. Dave has been saying they continue to grow, despite all the folks leaving. Statistics are spun and falsified. There is literally no truth coming out of there.

I would say Banned is more accurate than any other information out there.

A nod to Gary who allows the forum for people to get a glimpse inside some of these groups. He has been at it a long time!

When I was inside the COGs I assumed Banned just made up stuff. Then when it came to my group, I saw how accurate it was.

Did Dave ever ordain this wealthy fellow? In WCG, ordinations of non-AC people tended to come with wealth. With Dr. Pastor at HQ, and with all those responsibilities, I can't imagine Dave leaving him unordained. But how many ordinations for a man of such responsibility? Could it be that at some point the good doctor was in fact Pastor Pastor?

2:49's comment just made a complete fool of Bob Thiel.

He was ordained because of his common offering. He wasn't a pastor though.

Nicely spoken. Accurate appraisal of how Dave operates.

Did these folks wake up to the truth about Armstrongism or will they simply go off to follow Flurry or someone else?

I think it's good that the Pastors left, however, I hope at some point he can reconcile the damage he has done to others, he sure did a number on us. He may have been "under orders" but as far as I am concerned, he knew what he was doing was wrong and he did it anyway.

There is one thing about Bob Thiel and that is he is consistent. He constantly makes an ass of himself! He is a caricature of all COG leaders dumped into one bouncing hands flapping body.

Banned is a collaborative effort, not a one-man, uh, band; it is peer-reviewed as well as having informed and inside sources. Bob denounced collaborative efforts (crowdsourcing) when he didn't understand the British use of the word "wicked".

Might it be the case that James Pastor left because he (with all his knowledge of law and security) saw the dangerous path of destruction Dave Pack is taking the RCG now?

Because of his professional background James Pastor understands clearly how David Koresh and Jim Jones operated. If he’s now seeing the same traits in Dave Pack; that would be enough to leave.

I’m only speculating. But it would be interesting to know why the Pastors left and if James Pastor went straight to the authorities with everything he knows about madman Pack.

I'm glad the Pastors are out, and I hope he heals and rediscovers himself.

However, we can't ignore that he was instrumental in carrying out Pack's evil for quite some time. We don't know why he left. It's just as likely that Pack started to treat Pastor the way Pastor was treating ordinary members, and Pastor couldn't take for himself what he dished out to others. And it is just as likely that Pastor left when he lost faith in the doctrines, not because he had any problem with the abusive environment.

it would be interesting to know why the Pastors left and if James Pastor went straight to the authorities with everything he knows about madman Pack.

As Pastor was deeply enmeshed in carrying out Pack's madness, his going to the authorities is unlikely, as it would put him in a very bad light himself. Rather than become an anti-cult crusader, I imagine he just wants to lay low and get some consulting work and rebuild the inheritance he foolishly gave to Pack.

Pastor's Wikipedia site lists his credential as "James F. Pastor is an expert in terrorism, security, public safety and police matters"

One has to wonder how he endured the "Pack Terrorism" and mind control for as long as he did. Both he and his wife, were highly educated and sophisticated. It goes to show how even bright and talented people can be seduced by a cult. WCG was no different, under HWA.

People who have escaped from destructive hierarchy, who were once part of it, often have tremendous guilt and embarrassment. One can think of Albert Speer from Hitlers inner circle as an example. Good and intelligent people can get deceived and caught up in some bad stuff. Self forgiveness is an important part of recovery from spiritual abuse.

I have allowed that forgiveness for myself.

The RISK involved with associating with a psycho like klepto-Dave Pack-of-lies must have been much too great for him to possibly manage.

Brent and Elizabeth Garrison, pastors of the Kentucky area.

Wow! In WCG, and even previously in Dave's RCG, Brent would have been recognized as pastor and Elizabeth as nothing more than the pastor's wife, not as a pastor in her own right. I knew Ron Weinland had invented a female Evangelist and Silent Witness, but I'm surprised that Dave Pack had a female pastor! Does he have any other female pastors or elders?

As in WCG, a pastor's wife is considered 50% of the husband's ministry. Nothing new there! Some of the wives are very nice, the rest are power-hungry, hammer-wielding, nit-picking nazis...keeping an eye on women to make sure they are proper!

Tonto, you should read the book The Lucifer Effect: Understanding How Good People Turn Evil by Dr. Phillip Zimbardo. One of the best explanations of deception I've ever read.

"Rebuild the inheritance he foolishly gave to Dave."

Err, doesn't sound like you've read investment books. Once a person looses a sizable portion of their wealth in their senior years, the time is not there to recoup their loses. This applies to most of Dave's fleeced victims. They will die destitute.
