Gerald Flurry: Have a Smart Phone? Unless You Get Rid Of It You WILL Be In The Tribulation And Will Eat Your Sons, Daughters, And Friends!!!!!!!!!

The total asinine pronouncements of Church of God ministers get crazier by the day. Exit and Support Network is reporting that Flurry has banned smartphones and has proclaimed that anyone who still uses them will be in the tribulation where they will be eating their own children. Imagine being part of a cult that is this sick? Why do COG members still fall for this shit?

I can guarantee you that Lil'Stevie and the kids of the elite ministers at the cult compound have those phones. While they may use them at home instead of at work, they still have them.

The real reason he doesn't want them to have these phones is that they can easily access articles and information critical of the cult.

Armstrongism is sick. Sick to its rotten filthy core. Not one single one of them has any idea what being a Christian is.

GF Says Get Rid of Your Smart Phones or You Will End up in the Tribulation:
January 25, 2022

I just wanted to draw attention to the last sermon GF gave entitled, “Jeremiah’s Commission.”
Towards the end he began speaking about smart phones. He referenced one specific family who used them and though he didn’t specifically say, he alluded to them no longer being members. So whether they were kicked out or left I don’t know.

He then proceeded in an attempt to scare his followers by saying if people don’t get rid of their smart phone they will end up in the Tribulation and they’ll be eating their sons, daughters and friends and he then asked, “what good will those smart phones be then?”

This is only about control! Think about this. What is the difference between an iPad or a computer? They all access the same information. What is the difference between a man at work all day on his computer in his private office or a stay at home mom with access all day to her iPad?? There is literally no difference.

GF does this to control, and if the members secretly keep their smart phones, then they feel guilty and will attribute any bad thing that happens to them to this little “act of rebellion.” And if the ministry finds out someone is “rebelling,” then that gives them leverage and control over them. Even by their own doctrine, if their members can’t control themselves and stay off the porn sites–which he seemed to indicate that was a problem–how then can they make it into their supposed kingdom? Clearly they don’t have the character, and can’t do it unless their life is controlled for them.

Last time I checked God doesn’t want robots. If He did, He would have made us so. It makes no difference if they access porn via a smart phone, iPad, or computer. It’s not about that, it’s solely about control, just like the recent ruling on men only wearing white shirts to church. It is 100% cult behaviour. –T. C.

Imagine my surprise! While attending some local "mainstream" church services, I've watched those sitting around me using their smart phones as their Bible. They Google the book, chapter, and verse of each scripture reference used in the sermon. They use their banking app to make their offerings, and some make videos the very inspiring special music so that they can experience it again and again throughout the week.. The church even has their own app specially created for the members. No communication problems there!

Stupid cults that try to replace the work of the Holy Spirit with tyrannical authority rob themselves of some pretty awesome blessings.

Flurry is also not very scientific, The most effective way of proving that something is right is to fail at proving it wrong. WTF is he afraid of?

Freedom of information and choice - the great dangers to all totalitarian regimes - whether political religious or corporate.
If this group had the power we would all be plunged into a dark bleak Orwellian future.

It's a bully trait to not trust freedom.
So banning smartphones isn't a shocker, no matter that they can be constructively used. Why stop there? Why not ban alcohol? People abuse that at well? The bible does instruct to not add or take away from God's word, and in my books, they have crossed the line.

Looking at the link, the PCG now insists that their men folk wear white shirts to services. They must be competing with Dave for the most righteous looking splinter.

In the Church of God (Seventh Day) it's a common thing now days to use a smart phone in Sabbath school to look up scripture or any biblically related subjects. We don't discourage it's use. Perhaps Flurry is afraid his flock will learn the actual history of his precious Herbert Armstrong.

I thought old Gerald had quite the man-crush on Steve Jobs a few years ago. What turned him into such a hater?

I can see a lot of PCG members going hungry. They will have previously cut off all contact with their own children as per Gerald Flurry's No Contact Policy and will not have any children left around to eat.

As for their fake friends in the PCG, everyone is already gossiping, lying, slandering, and devouring each other anyway.

Even the Amish use smart phones and other less-than-250-year-old technology when they are working out in "the world". Such devices are only shunned within the community at large.

I hope that (at the least) that PCG members can escape to Kim Jong Un's North Korea, so that they can experience more freedom than they do now!

This is so fuuny, do not use smart phones, but most are using this device as their only source for internet use. May be it's because the fear that 5G will fry the brain.

Mr. Flurry has a point here.

I'm quite unlikely to use a smartphone to record me eating my friends. I only have two hands, after all.

Using one hand to eat my friend while holding the smartphone with the other hand to take a selfie of my dinner would be messy, one way or the other.

Gerry must be losing control! Leaking members. Par for the course for any dictator to pull in the reigns when that happens

I expect Flurry to try to implement more & more edicts restricting choice and limiting member's freedoms. As Christ said, false leaders like Gerald Flurry will lay grevious burdens of the backs of membership all the while he is unwilling to lift his little finger. Maybe he needs a new jet

Geral Flurry is quoted as saying, "if people don’t get rid of their smart phone they will end up in the Tribulation and they’ll be eating their sons, daughters and friends and he then asked, “what good will those smart phones be then?”

MY COMMENT - To quote that great US Secret Agent Maxwell Smart, "Ah, its the old end up in the tribulation eating your sons, daughters and friends trick"

Those of us who grew up in the mother WCG remember that trick well. Hopefully, Flurry isn't also banning shoe phones.

Eat your friends and relatives with help from your smartphone? I think poor Gerry has misunderstood how Grubhub and DoorDash work.

Anonymous said...

Gerry might want to sniff around and figure out which HQ minister has a porn stash on his smartphone. But you just know he won't forbid his ministers from using the same smartphones he denies to ordinary members.

Anonymous said...

Wonder if Gerald is secretly watching porn on his smart phone?! I know I do.

Anonymous said...

It's the smartphone that's given hundreds of millions of poor people in countries like India and Pakistan access to the internet. Millions are being reached with the gospel that were inaccessible in HWAs day. Yet the ACOGs in their policy of exalting themselves by belittling everybody and every thing else, fail to honor this technical achievement.

Gerald Flurry is a mental midget who only understands the fearful, "save my ass" types who have been historically attracted to Armstrongism. There are many more humans who value freedom so much that they are willing to subject themselves and their families to extremes, deprivations, and violence just for an opportunity to live under a more benign system of government. I was listening to a discussion on talk radio about the people who risk crossing our southern border. One of the emerging trends is that the women fully expect to be raped somewhere along their journey to the USA, and actually carry "morning after" pills as part of the survival equipment for their journey.

My message to any PCG members worried about Flurry's dire predictions is that this same sort of rhetoric was used against us in original WCG decades ago. I had my occasional fears and doubts about what they said to those of us who left, but these fade with time as you live out your post-Armstrongism life. Honestly, 3-1/2 years of tribulation can't possibly be worse than church imposed tribulation that you allow, embrace and accept ruining decades of your life. A god who would make you eat your children simply for owning advanced technology which has mostly good uses would not be worthy of your worship and service.

I love my smartphone and guess what? I don’t watch porn. Someone with serious porn watching has pushed this issue and banned it for the entire church all because they can’t control their own urges. Whatever happened to it’s the wrong use of the thing not the thing itself? It makes zero sense. As someone else here mentioned, you can use a tv or iPad, laptop and still watch the same stuff. Even the ministers know this to be true and some have even led G.F to believe that in a ministers busy life of being available to the members, it is necessary for them to keep theirs!! Good for them! But everyone else must obey. I can understand making suggestions to parents of young teens etc but to enforce it on them outside of parents abs to force it or push it on a grown adult is ridiculous. PCG is a letter of the law church, do as I say, not as I do church now. It’s just so obvious abs such a shame.

I agree 100%!! The smartphone is their actual computer in the poorer countries. They can’t afford a desktop computer with internet, iPad and smartphone like some other countries can. Often times all they have is a smartphone and they use the wifi at local cafes etc. If you take a smartphone off them you cut them off from the world and access to gospel message. If you take a smartphone off a person in one of the wealthier countries, they still have access to the internet and can surf the web etc in the comfort of their own home. It’s just control.

Listening to Gerald Flurry and his henchmen ministers is mental pornography and will cause irreparable damage to your children and will likely cause them to lose all faith whatsoever all the years of their mental abuse. Get them away fron "that False Prophet"

I'm sure the ban on smart phones, not other devices, is because someone attending a PCG service used their phone to discretely record some asinine rant the minister vomited and then uploaded it to YouTube while still in the service.
I encourage all those who decide to keep your freedom in Christ to do the same.

Remember, we're only talking about approximately 900 Flurryslaves:
It's not like these numerous Armstrong splinters have many suckers who are willing to pay for the leaders' extravagant lifestyles

Anonymous said...

The piece of data that we do not have is why this splinterist preacher believes that cell phones are so evil that using a cell phone will consign someone to the Tribulation. As it stands, the assertion is just a hanging statement with no supporting rationale. Is that the way it really is or has that piece just been left out?

What leapt out at me, forget the cell phone issue, was the use of the Tribulation to menace the congregants. William Miller had a carrot but not much of a stick. These latter day apocalyptic Millerites wield both. The carrot is the place of safety, and the stick is the great tribulation. That makes a really odd "gospel" of dismay where anxiety substitutes maladroitly for the Holy Spirit.

Might someone in Splinterdom stop for a moment and consider that the Tribulation may have happened in 70 AD just as Jesus said and that there is no real exegesis that would lead one to believe that the type-antitype model would apply to this event? The tribulation has the status of an article of faith it seems - no questions asked. The belief in the tribulation, rivaling the belief in Jesus, is just too useful to re-assess perhaps.

It is worth mentioning that the inordinate use of the type-antitype model can be an escape clause for some professed Biblical literalists. Prophecy fans are always using the model to construct creative predictive interpretations from almost any OT passage. If they were held to standards of genuine literalism their Tower of Babel, constructed of bricks of dubious antitypical prophecy, would come tumbling down.

I doubt this has anything to do with porn. Gerry probably figured out (or was told) that smartphones can record sermons clandestinely, and can even record secret HQ staff meetings.

Zippo said...

Similar to Gerry's smart phone ban (when you enter, leave your phone at the door, along with your brain) some years ago Dave Pack reported that he and his council of yes-men unanimously agreed they could find no reason for a member to have a webpage - with the exception of a personal business.

See, now, 6:42? If there are only 900 Flurryites, by laying claim to some of the sabbath surfing Africans, Bob Thiel has definitely elevated his little storefront CCOG above the work of Gerald Flurry in terms of membership. Flurry does have exponentially more assets, but these churches rank themselves primarily by membership numbers.

No, lots of people are sitting in services using iPads and computers. Those both record, neither are banned.

You get rid of the cell phone and you get rid of the easy access to information and we don’t want free thinkers do we? We don’t want our people realising we are a cult, we don’t want people looking into Herbert Armstrong and how he was a brilliant con artist. We don’t want people listening to people like Joe Rogan and others who are free thinkers! We were specifically told NOT to listen to Joe Rogan by the way.

Anonymous said...

"The associated picture should not be used. It is abhorrent. I suggest removing."

Sure thing Karen! That picture they used is 100% accurate. I heard this crap since I was a little child in the church that people in the tribulation would eat their children. This was especially applicable to church members who left the church. 40 years of listening to that shit is disgusting. This was standard COG teaching.

Anonymous said...

The Gerry and his minions have to control the flow of information that the people receive because their teachings can NOT stand up to outside criticism.

Agreed, what on earth do think has been painted into our heads since we were very small children! Why do you think we are on here!?

Flurry has the wrong idea about the tribulation and Laodiceans in the first place. Laodiceans were said to be still members of God's church. Hypothetically, someone with a Laodicean attitude would be guided by God through a rehabilitation process during the tribulation, so that at the end of the tribulation, they too would be rising to meet Jesus as He returned. They would also be ministering to those around them, helping them to understand what was going on, leading others to repentance. Where did this Laodiceans eating babies come into play? We were certainly taught that some of our family members, neighbors, and colleagues at work might suffer such a fate, but my understanding was always that Laodiceans would be refined by the tribulation. That refinement would be painful enough, and not a desirable fate at all.

How's some Lao dude who in a weak moment of hunger-driven insanity ate a baby supposed to rise to meet Christ? It just doesn't compute!

RSK said...

Sadly, its not that exciting. its Rubens' version, not Goya's.

Only in the COG will someone get upset over a painting instead of a perverted COG teaching! It’s no wonder Armstrongism is so sick.

900 Flurryites or Flurryslaves?
I think on another post here that PCoG ordered around 3400 Bible hymnals.
Do we have a figure on the actual membership number of this group and of the other splinter groups.
Probably a ‘State Secret’ the actual numbers of each group.
Would be highly embarrassing for them to reveal the real numbers.

According to the link, PCG women are forbidden to go to work, and must be home makers. Is that true?

I wouldn’t say forbidden, but it is strongly frowned upon - unless of course you work at HQ then the rules don’t apply

Anonymous said...

That’s pretty accurate, it’s definitely under 4000

Earl said...

Talk about a "Karen", you're getting pset by a suggestion and making stupid inferences. Anyway, there are multiple elements to this picture worse than that said even in Armstrongism or in Wolverton's artwork. That approach will not wake too many people up. What would be more effective is to use Wolverton's actual artwork.

PGG/GRF are totally bipolar! One month members are publically advised to leave their troubled children at the mall, and a couple months later they are threatened with having to eat them if they don't get rid of their smart phones! Guess the kids that get turned into Irish dancing nerds somehow end up being the lucky ones?

What is the churches policy on “NO CONTACT”?! I’ve never been hostile or bitter since I left as a teenager but my parents was told we are not to have contact anymore.

Anonymous said...

No contact is just Flurry making his people make an idol out of his church. He wants his people to give up anything and everything in favor of his stupid little cult. Kids don't like the church? Make your love for them conditional. They're only worthy of your love if they get with the church. The Bible says that God rains on the just and the unjust alike, but God's character is just not good enough for Gerald.
