Bob Thiel has up a ridiculous posting today encouraging LCGers to pray and fast that God places the right person in office. Thiel feels both men are evil and that God apparently is going to place in office the lesser evil one.
Armstrongism has always had a love/hate relationship with voting. HWA was against it and the diehard followers still are to this day. They are appalled that some other COG groups do allow voting, or at least leave the matter up to the individual. There has been discussions on Facebook recently about UCG members who said they vote. Some condemned them for doing it saying the Bible told them not to.
The Church also allowed voting when it came to local concerns that would have an effect on the local community. This allowed WCG members to run for office in Big Sandy and eventually helped allow the sale of alcohol in the area. On a side note: It's funny how you can't mention the name Church of God without alcohol getting into the mix.
Bob Thiel writes:
Tomorrow is the US presidential election. If Christians are not supposed to vote, what should we do about leaders?
Pray for them!
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior (1 Tim 2:1-3).Notice that we are to pray for worldly leaders and those that have authority over us so that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life.
Both candidates have promoted various forms of evil, and as I wrote before Voting for the Lesser of Two Evils is Still not Good (for specific details by candidate, please see the article Romney and Obama on ‘Social Issues’).Of course there are those reprobates and wanton sinners in the Church of God who do vote, always have and always will. Thiel has this to say to them:
Many people, however, apparently are not satisfied with the biblical admonitions to trust God to chose political leaders. This is not new (1 Samuel 8:6-7).
And while I can certainly understand that people often feel that they should do more, people often forget that God inspired Jeremiah to write:
O LORD, I know the way of man is not in himself; It is not in man who walks to direct his own steps (Jeremiah 10:23).
Some of those that vote seem to forget what God said:Bob also wants you to know that whoever gets voted in will lead to the decline of this nation and is soon coming occupation by Germany:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts…”(Isaiah 55:8-9).It may be of interest to point out that Jesus suggested that people would take matters in their own hands thinking that they are doing God a service (John 16:2). And while this referred to killing, the principle is still that one should not violate what God instructs and justify it by thinking that God wants one to.
‘This decision is by the decree of the watchers, And the sentence by the word of the holy ones, In order that the living may know That the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, Gives it to whomever He will, And sets over it the lowest of men.’ (Daniel 4:17).
No matter who wins, I believe they will lead a nation in decline and will almost certainly increase the rate of ultimate decline of the Anglo-American powers. The USA needs true repentance and neither candidate has really called for that. God can decide who, when, and why we should get particular leaders.
Since we are getting closer to the time of the end, I believe that tomorrow’s winner (even if it is not clear tomorrow) will help fulfill the following:
12 As for My people, children are their oppressors, And women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err, And destroy the way of your paths.” (Isaiah 3:12)
16 For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed (Isaiah 9:16).
Thiel wants to make if very clear on what he is doing. As the Official face of the Living Church of God, he has to set the right example for the wayward LCGer who might have dared to vote. I know quit a few in LCG who do vote and will ignore Thiel's advice. As they should!

And the German people voted Hitler in to the office of dictator.
The Holocaust is Gods fault. Right Bobby? Is this your logic?
There are those who believe that the USA was established as a Christian nation, so presents a different case than did, say, some of the pagan nations in which Christians lived in the early centuries. Armstrongism never considered the US to be Christian, because sabbath keeping was never part of the equation. HWA saw the US more as a subtribe of Israel which had forgotten its national identity and their responsibility to keep the law given to Moses. Of course, we realize today that that is as ridiculous as it is preposterous!
We were admonished to be sure to vote at the close of church services this past weekend. Christians have a responsibility to promote the Kingdom, to be a little advance piece of the Kingdom, and to exert influence in a Christlike direction whenever possible.
When your church runs around looking for bad and for paganism in everything, waiting for Sodom and Gomorrah-like conditions, disasters, and the sudden arrival of the Germans, of course every possible choice appears to be between the lesser of evils. What a bum trip!

If God really wanted to put the most evil man in office and drive this nation down to its doom, He would make Roderick Meredith President of the United States.
Maybe we should instead pray for the evil of two lessers -- Bob Thiel and James Malm.

Are you serious? Roderick Meredith isn't even close to being "the most evil man." He's a pathetic old liar, propped up by his children, circled by vulture-like sycophants who seek to use him for their own gain, longing for a return to the glory days when he was able to hobnob with the Bobby Fischers and Robert Kuhns and Elliot Richardsons. To this day, he still misses the intimate touch of his wrestling buddy who died in a tragic teenage accident more than 60 years ago.
Herbert Armstrong had it mostly right in his famous 1980 banishment letter.
From that letter:
Rod, in frankest candor, JESUS CHRIST will NEVER put any one at the head of His Work on earth who is competitive, covetous of power and status, and [self-righteous]. In brutal frankness, you lack the charisma to lead God's work You do not attract-as I said before, you REP[EL-] people. You are a harsh taskmaster over those under you. THAT IS YOUR RECORD!
A truly evil man can wield his evil to harm many innocent victims. Rod Meredith's "victims" are not entirely innocent, as they have consented to accept his evil in a Faustian bargain for pride (e.g. British Israelite racial superiority and a future "as God is God"), power (e.g. petty tyrants who accept Rod's abuse so they can gain a position letting them abuse others, maybe as a husband, maybe as a deacon, maybe eventually as an elder ) or a paycheck (e.g. ministers who know it's a crock but would rather be a pastor than work at Home Depot).
Rod Meredith is to be pitied, not feared.
I like how Bill Maher put it, "When all you're given are two choices, well then, it's not really a choice now is it?!"
Not so.
This past year I had a blog up and a woman came and asked for help.
Roderick Meredith has done so much harm. He's a lot brighter and more culpable than people give him credit for.
He's ruined lives and continues to ruin them.
The worst of it is that he is so self-righteous that he's totally blind to how wrong he is and how much evil he does to people.
As a false prophet of 50 years standing, taking God's Name in vain, if there is a God, Roderick Merdith has a lot to answer for.
Remember he was #3 in the "Work". Sure, Herbert Armstrong got irritated with him, but in the end, brought him back.
And he's still a harsh taskmaster who destroyed his own church, Global.
What a legacy.
You put it right. He he destroyed his own church. Global Church of Rod. Then he left others holding the debt contrary to his promises, and began the Living Church of Rod.
Oh stop whining! God is using Mr. Meredith powerfully at this strategic end times era. Get over it!

Well, should that impress us? I'd like to just say: Duh!
Those verses were fulfilled back in Isaiah's day.........and probably every day since Isaiah was inspired to write them.
It appears that Bob Thiel is implying that those verses are yet to be fulfilled, but it's ridiculous to even hint at such a thing.
Christ said, and I could just as easily say: "Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof." Matthew 6:34
And Bob Thiel, guess what? No matter who wins that election, those words of Jesus Christ, along with Isaiah's words that you quoted, were just as true back in Isaiah's day.........as they will be today...........and tomorrow!!!

"God is using Mr. Meredith powerfully at this strategic end times era."
a) god isn't doing anything of the sort
b) there's no such thing as an "end times era"
c) RCM is anything but powerful
d) you are delusional
