Here We Go AGAIN...New Splinter Group Emerges Out Of Restored Church of God...Dave is NOT Happy!

And here we go AGAIN! Another splinter group emerges adding itself to the current cacophony of COG splinter groups.

One of Dave Pack's ministers inTexas has rebelled after listening to Dave expound on his magnificent biblical understanding in his now 270+ sermon series.

Word on the street is that this minister was not known to be a very dynamic person, so some question whether the man will be able to gather a following, though the church is filled with people with itching ears who are attracted to this kind of nonsense.

This is another man who worships Herbert Armstrong and thinks the man did no wrong. Another man who has to imitate HWA in everything.

Greetings brethren,

It is out of sincere love and concern that I write you this letter.

As you have noticed, a prophecy series titled “The Greatest Untold Story” (TGUS) has taken root in the Restored Church of God (RCG) with over 270 sermons given. This series has changed the entire landscape of, not only prophetic truth but also doctrinal truth. Strange, unusual, confusing, and dark teachings have been the result from this series. There have been over 100 changes to the precious truths that RCG once adhered to.

Many of you know that something is wrong in RCG but do not know what to do. The information contained in the articles in the following website and Drop box link are the key in helping you understand what is occurring in RCG and the action you must take. They will help you find the “way of escape” that has been promised by a loving God out of the severe trial that you are going through;

https://www.therwcg.org/articles

These articles will begin to remove the false doctrines that you have absorbed during the last 5 years and they will begin to reestablish the doctrinal truths that were restored by Jesus Christ to the Worldwide Church of God during the Philadelphia era. They will help you identify the true end-time Elijah and will reassure you of the teachings that God’s 20th century apostle, Mr. Armstrong, who was known for not compromising, taught the Church. You will hear him talk to you as you read this material as these documents are filled with quotes from him. These articles will bring clarity in a time of doctrinal change and confusion.

It is important to note that when heresy takes root in the Church, Christ will cease to guide it and He will remove Himself from it. This is what He commands all Christians to do in Romans 16:17, it is what Mr. Armstrong instructed the Church members to do, and because Christ would not disobey His own command, it is what He would do as well. Therefore, once the heresies from the TGUS took root in RCG, Christ stopped leading this organization and it ceased from being the one true Church, the body of Christ. The following are a couple of helpful quotes from the teachings of the Philadelphia era of the Church of God:

“Before Jesus answered His disciples as to WHEN the END of the age and His return would come, He warned them against FALSE MINISTERS, deceiving the many. If possible, He said, they would deceive the VERY ELECT — YOU in God's Church.

“As the Apostle Paul warned the elders at Ephesus: ‘For I know this, that... grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also OF YOUR OWN SELVES [the ministers in God's Churchshall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore WATCH... ‘! (Acts 20:29-31.)

Brethren, could this BE God's true Church, and such things not happen to us? This sort of thing DID HAPPEN to God's TRUE CHURCH in the very first century. They only PROVE this is GOD'S Church which He is USING and blessing! But SATAN IS ANGRY. Satan deceives even some from within us. They will falsely accuse. They will MISLEAD with false doctrines which they will palm off as TRUTH!

Good News Magazine, “Why Did God Put You in His Church?”, Herbert W Armstrong, May 1974

“But during these 43 years, I have frequently been pressured to compromise – ‘just a little’ – with God’s TRUTH.

“But honestly, now, WHAT DO YOU THINK? Wouldn't it be all right to compromise, ‘just a little,’ on some ‘unimportant minor point’? Especially on some ostensibly unimportant point where we appear ‘crazy’ to the world.

Nevertheless, if we begin to compromise with God's TRUTH, even in smallest, slightest manner, we have allowed Satan to get a foot into the door of the Church, and soon he will push open the door (he is stronger than we) and take over the whole Church.

“A little leaven leavens the WHOLE LUMP! In my position, as chosen by the living CHRIST to be first under Him in AUTHORITY over the Church and the Work, I have been charged with the commission of KEEPING GOD'S WORD. Keeping it inviolate – NO COMPROMISE! I have NEVER compromised with God's TRUTH – regardless of the cost or the circumstances. I never shall!”

Good News Magazine, “Personal”, Herbert W. Armstrong, December 1976, Page 1 & 28

Let it be known that the individuals who introduce false doctrines, which are teachings that are contrary to the truth, are the ones responsible for causing division and not those who stand up for the truth (Romans 16:17).

And let there be no doubt that when a true minister or leader of the Church begins teaching error, i.e. doctrines contrary to the truths that were restored to the Church by Jesus Christ through His chosen apostle Mr. Armstrong, they disqualify themselves as men of truth (Exodus 18:21) and as ministers of the one true God. And the ministers that allow these individuals to deceive the members of the Church also disqualify themselves as ministers if they do not stand up for the truth. This is confirmed in the Word of God (II Corinthians 11:4, 13-15) and it is perfectly in line with what Mr. Armstrong taught the Church:

“A true minister of God must study, preach and live by EVERY word of God! If a man tells you something that he knows disagrees with God's revealed Word, he instantly disqualifies himself from being a true minister of Christ! Isaiah 8:20 and Matthew 4:4 confirm this!

Tomorrows World, “What About False Prophets?”, November –December 1970

In the very beginning of the Church of God in the 1st century, there were false apostles and there were those who went out from the Church for selfish gain or for revenge even as today. The apostle Paul speaking to the elders, which means the ministers of the Church of Ephesus said quote, ‘Also of your own selves’ that is speaking of you ministers ‘shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them’ Acts 20:30. That’s exactly what happened…

“To the Church at Corinth Paul wrote, this is quoted from the Bible ‘But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus’ which they do. They don’t preach the same Jesus. ‘whom we have not preached, or ifye receive another spirit’ and they are of a different spirit ‘which ye have not received, or another gospel ‘another doctrine’ which ye have not accepted’ II Corinthians 11:3-4.

“Now who was trying to turn these members of God’s Church to some watered down doctrine or other teaching. Paul says they were men serving Satan and therefore Satan’s ministers. Notice, the same chapter, just a few verses later he says ‘For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into’ and that is professing themselves to be ‘apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers’ now notice that, it is actually Satan’s ministers, his ministers, perhaps even themselves deceived into believing they are serving Christ. But if Satan’s ministers ‘also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness’, these ministers will never admit they’re Satan’s ministers. They’ll tell you they’re ministers of Christ.

Bible Study, “Romans 15-16”, Herbert W Armstrong, July 7, 1980

Some have asked, “Why would God allow heresy, false teachers or false prophets to infiltrate the one true Church?” Although God has allowed this to happen, He is not the author of it. But God allows this to happen as a test for His people. It is a way that He can know whether you will follow the truth, and thus the living HEAD of the Church Jesus Christ, no matter the consequences.

Why does God allow wolves to have access to His flock? Why doesn't He expose them before they do any harm? He has His reasons!

“The first and most basic scripture about false prophets explains why. ‘If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul’ (Deut. 13:1-3).

God wants his flock to stay with Him and the truth no matter what.”

Good News Magazine, “Beware of False Prophets”, May 1979

Brethren of the one true God, a test such as this is meant to reveal your loyalty to the one true God. It is intended to establish your faithfulness to your Creator. And it is designed to develop the gold in your character that can only come from a trial such as this. But this will only happen if you “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints”, which are the truths that were established during the Philadelphia era of the Church by Jesus Christ (Revelation 3:8 & 10), the living HEAD of the Church, through His faithful apostle, Mr. Herbert W Armstrong.

I was a minister in RCG who served in Florida and Texas from 2012 through 2019. My family and I left this organization in the spring of 2019 because of the many doctrinal changes that were a result from TGUS. We had to leave in order to stay in the truth and in the Church that is led by Jesus Christ. One final quote from Mr. Armstrong is in order as he instructs you on the course of action that you must take:

Well, supposing that one even who has received the Holy Spirit changes his mind and wants to go off a different way and he begins to cause friction and trouble. Some will say ‘Yeah, you are still going to have friction in the Church.’ Oh, no. We are not, brethren. No we're not! And I want to show you why.

“Next we have to turn back to Romans, the last chapter of Romans, the 16th chapter and verse 17 where Paul says; ‘Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned, and avoid them.’

Different doctrines, they are causing division, they are causing trouble. That is what we had in the past. And the REASON that we had it was we said, ‘Well, we must be more loving and more kind and more good than God and we must just leave them in among us.’ God says, MARK THEM AND AVOID THEM. Now there are two ways we can avoid them, and only two that I know. One is if we leave them in the Church and we all go out, we're no longer in the Church. The other is that we put them out, and we stay in.

Sermon, “Unity”, Herbert W Armstrong, February 4, 1984

You now have the tools with the articles in the reference website and in the Drop box link that will help you recover from the path that you are currently in. May God help each and every one of you find your way back to the faith that was once delivered unto the saints before it’s too late!

Way to go Luis!! You are Dave Packing David Pack! Just pull out a bunch of quotes from HWA.

Anonymous said...

Satan's false prophets Gerald R. Flurry and David C. Pack both quoted HWA, but after attracting some of HWA's followers they both went off into the craziest nonsense and evil around.

Gerald Flurry and David Pack both pretended to be faithfully following HWA at the start of their own satanic imposter cults, but after they got some of HWA's followers from the WCG it became all about their own selves and how amazingly great they kept on discovering that they were.

Flurry and Pack both criticized everyone else for making changes to what HWA had taught, but then they both changed what HWA had taught far more than anyone else had ever even dreamed of doing.

When the Reformation scholars wrote of the "priesthood of all believers" I don't think they anticipated the ACOGs, where in another few years every remaining member will be the head of his own splinter church!

First of all, the Restored Church of Satan never was “the one true church.”

It has just become even more totally obvious over the past half dozen years how bad that satanic imposter cult really is.

And secondly, David C. Quack always was a ranting, raving, yelling, spitting, lying, thieving jerk.

It has just become even more totally obvious over the past half dozen years how totally Satan-possessed he really is.

If it were not all so terribly serious and absolutely tragic, I'd be ROTFLMAO.

One of the tiny little rebels from the past who never amounted to anything (of course), Norman S. Edwards, was absolutely thrilled when the WCG exploded after the Great Apostasy of 1995 and all sorts of little so-called churches, ministries, home groups, websites, etc. were forming. Norman Edwards was all about DIVISION. NSE's ultimate desire was to see the entire WCG break up into lone individuals each being led off in a different direction by their own demon while thinking that they were so spiritual that they were being personally led by God.

I think that if EVERY single COG member left each other, and became a church of just themselves, with a membership of ONE, that it would still have splits!

To our shame, we are not, nor ever have been "Philadelphians" with brotherly love. This profoundly saddens me.

R.L. said...

In either his pre-Feast or Feast Day 1 message this fall, David Pack recalled several ministers who bolted from RCG through the years. He said he was stunned to review what happened and find "not ONE" member left with any of those unnamed ministers.

(But then he cited one "exception" where some members left. But anyway....)

Will it make a difference that we now have a COG leader who's Hispanic - a member of a "minority" people group? Will that attract a following? I don't think it made a difference for COG-7 when Whaid Rose was President.

Why the hell is god so hell bent on endless "tests" for his people? Nonstop test after test after test in the form of supposed false teachers. Life is not a test. Please people, learn to enjoy life. No god is testing anyone about anything.

WHAT ABOUT THE TRUTH said...

As indicated in the post, Luis Garcia would be the last person I would have ever thought would start his own group. A very quiet unassuming humble man with a lovely family.

With his fall back to the "safety" of all things Herbert Armstrong, it is my guess he has thoroughly reviewed Greg Kaidannek's RCG what happened to and where is the true church departure thesis.

Greg Kaidannek is the man that trained Lius Garcia and it now looks like we have a great Texas rebellion brewing.

These ministers and members are in a tough place to make a correct decision regarding which spiritual direction to take. They have been brain drilled by Mr. Pack that All of the splinters have corrupted and departed from many of Herbert Armstrong's doctrines. They have also been told consistently that the splinters are all a cesspool of backsliding spiritual misfits or worse who can't dress properly, drink too much, fornicate often, wife swap when they feel like it, commit adultery, can't stay out of tattoo parlors, defile the Sabbath and rob God.

Now they have sat for 6 or 7 years and listened to a belligerent sadistic psychopath glorify himself with every biblical title he can find to create the indispensable idol worthy of worship.

Ah yeah, and there is that 270 sermon story that crashed into the Wadsworth sewers long ago but was sooooo believable they all actually believed that it all constituted the true lost gospel.

After all that they have been through, starting another splinter and anchoring it to all things HWA is the wrong thing to do and the wrong time to do it.

I wouldn't want to be sitting before these men listening as their minds unwind from the mental apocalypse that has happened to them.

It quotes HWA as saying he didn't compromise with the truth even slightly.
Really? In that case please explain his Gestapo ministry lording over members lives including their faith.

This and his many other lies, are pure marketing. Like every good ad man, Herb believed that perception is everything, with truth and reality not really mattering.

@Anon 4:20PM
That’s already happening now: a lot of COG members don’t go to services anymore, but instead keep the Sabbath at home and listen to sermons of their choice online. They ‘float’ between the COG’s and make their own rules saying that they follow ‘the old WWCG’..

Don't see much about the Abiding Church of God. This is a fairly large splinter from a few years back. They broke away from the RCG. Where are they hiding or abiding?

And lest we forget Michael Venish and his Vigilant COG. This was a group that he inherited from another so-called minister of RCG. Is it still vigilant or has he moved back to South Africa?

The "one true church" falsehood leads people to jump from one organization to another, as if their salvation comes by "grace through membership in the right organization" rather than by "grace through faith." The church, as I understand it, is not an organization, an IRS recognized tax exempt organization with a headquarters on earth. It is a the body of Christ, all believers from Pentecost to today. It is not a man made organization that you seek to join. Just as the church is not a building, but the people the "true church" is those members who have faith in Jesus Christ, not an organization. As the overall population of the Churches of God ages and shrinks, anyone who starts a new organization has little potential to amount to a group of any size. Only those groups started years ago could have a sizable membership and holding onto those numbers is becoming increasingly more difficult. So this new church will have another copy cat website with look alike articles, appear to be a real church but will amount to nothing with little impact on the world.

I consider the Garcia family dear friends of mine. I’ve known Luis Garcia for 10 years, and I unintentionally helped to hasten his and his family’s departure from RCG a few weeks earlier than he planned.

I kinda saw him heading towards creating another group. Having spent/wasted 13 years in a few Armstrong groups myself, and some 20 years researching/studying what I now agree is “Armstrongism”, I personally have proven that the worship of a man supplants the worship of Christ and the Father, and that the word of men trumps the word of God in all these groups. But I know that Luis Garcia is committed to keeping the Armstrong name alive as the “end-time Apostle”, the “Elijah to come”, “Zerubbabel”, etc. And that all that Armstrong proclaimed— regardless of how often he went back and forth on doctrine— is truth.

Sometimes I wonder if God will let enough time pass that that every member of these groups will be head of his/her own splinter, as mentioned above.

Thanks to everyone who makes this website possible.

From Luis' "Personal" page. He definitely is sincere and most don't dispute that. However, it pretty much goes off the cliff with his few broad presuppositions. It is still a mix of personal theology reinventing the "post WCG" story mixed with elements of the RCG Splinter Packet.

"About Us" Page

"So who are we? This is the question of utmost importance for those who are seeking to follow the truth and the Church that is being led by Jesus Christ. We are not a new Church of God group. There are plenty of those in this era. We are part of the small remnant of the Church of God that was prophesied in Revelation 3:10 and Revelation 12:14 who are holding fast to the full truth that was restored to the 6th era.

This group is for those who believe in all of the truths that were put into the Church by Jesus Christ, the living HEAD of the Church, through His chosen apostle of the 20th century, Mr. Herbert W Armstrong. And it is for those who want to adhere to all of these truths without compromise. Therefore, we are the final small remnant of the Worldwide Church of God."

("This isn't a new group, it's just an extension of the One True Church"...never heard that one before...Also, the only reason there needs to be an "extension" of WCG is because God "allowed" it to be completely destroyed, ruining families, finances and mental health for thousands and generations of people. If this was in fact "a test" for God's Philadelphian people, then the test would need to be over once all the old WCGers die out, right? Can the "test" apply to the kids who never received the "Truth" in the first place in the Philadelphia era?)

"Personal" Page

"I also hoped and I prayed that God might set the Church back on track somehow, but it never happened. Once heresy takes root in the Church, God will cease to guide it and He will remove Himself from it. This is what He commands all Christians to do in Romans 16:17, it is what Mr. Armstrong instructed the Church members to do, and because God would not disobey His own command, it is what He would do as well.

In addition, Mr. Armstrong learned from personal experience that when men begin to engage in erroneous teachings, it is nearly impossible to restore these men back to the truth. So I submitted my letter by email to RCG. This is the course of action God instructs everyone to take when heresy strikes the Church. And this is the only reason that a begotten member of the body of Christ should ever leave or be removed from the Church."

(The assumption below is that God/Christ will move between groups, when the "God chosen/appointed apostle" falls off the rails into heresy. (not sure if he thinks God is in multiple groups or only works through one group at a time.) Also, he makes the unilateral decision that the only reason to leave the church is when you resign because the leadership is changing 'The Truth." Obviously that will be a future problem since he had to form his own group, as there are no other groups to fellowship with. The implication of him forming his own group is that Christ/God is now working through you and no one else, since he examined all the other groups and found they are in error.)

Rinse, recycle, repeat....

October 26, 2020 at 4:46 AM, I appreciate your comments. The corporate COGs both large and small pay lip service to the idea that the body of Christ is a body of all believers, but as a movement their practice, or at least the practice of the leadership of most of these groups is the exact opposite, and we have devolved into denominational-ism and factions just as much as any other protestant or Catholic sect we ridicule. "Members" of one group are encouraged to shun and largely avoid fellowship or worship with "members" of other groups in the name of doctrinal purity (which none can legitimately claim), or because one COG hierarchy is somehow supposed to be more legitimate in God's eyes than another for whatever reason. Erroneous teaching can be found in all groups. No one understands every facet of every subject covered in scripture perfectly, and anyone who claims otherwise isn't telling the truth. We see through a glass darkly at times, and growth in grace and knowledge is a process.

As pointed out in a comment above, worship of a man figures prominently in most of these groups, and we just keep inventing the same wobbly wheel over and over again, and then wonder why it doesn't work like it should.

The body of Christ does not consist of conflicting incorporated "churches", nor is it made up of only one incorporated "church" to the exclusion of other brethren who might not attend with that particular group for whatever reason. Instead it is made of individuals, each of whom might or might not fellowship with or attend various congregations within these splintered or denominational corporate church groups. Corporate Churches are institutions started by and run by flawed human beings, and they are used to divide and separate the true body of Christ. In order to fix the problem, we need to fix our thinking, and we need to change our vocabulary accordingly. To shun a fellow believer based solely on which COG group they happen to attend or not attend is to potentially shun a fellow member of the very body we all claim to be apart of. Our "membership" and loyalty should be to Christ as members of His spiritual body, with our fellowship with other believers being an important but secondary consideration. Church leaders who teach the "one true church" concept and especially who apply that term solely to themselves or claim they are the only legitimate or true leaders among the body of believers should be called out and labeled for the hypocrites they are. Church leaders who stress membership and loyalty to their own group as the "church" to the exclusion of fellowship or cooperation with others should also be called out, because they are no better than Diotrephes. You cannot claim the body of Christ is a spiritual body not limited to the corporate walls of any human organization and then behave and speak in terms that are exactly the opposite of this belief. If you do, you are a liar and a hypocrite.

I noticed that he referred to HWA as His "chosen apostle." This common title was spoken in reverential tones by his loyalists. It's in violation of Christ command to call no man your father or similar, since it exalts a person, giving them undue influence.

Perhaps the literature can show a distinct moment or person by whom the "chosen apostle" thing became fashionable and customary..... like the sustaining of particular notes singing hymns at the Feast or singing *Oh Israel oh Israel, where the text said America, someone initiated that at a particular point.

In any case it either denotes a) several preaching truth or being commissioned but only one chosen, or that b) only one was comissioned today at the top of a hierarchy.

An apostle means "one sent", which a person who was away and en route for 340 days per year over a decade could well imagine to refer to himself.

HWA would be good fall back, but I would hesitate to listen for a minute to one trained in total Packian crap for years being in a process of unwinding himself from that.... or perhaps not..... who knows, who can tell if it is possible to unwind from Pack.

Why is it, that in other cults the leaders get prosecuted for sexual crimes but in the worst COG such as RCG, they don't get prosecuted for extortion, bait and switch scams such as telling people that the 3rd tithe money they send in is for the widows and orphans but instead it goes to remodeling someone's house. Pack tells people that they either send in common or they have no salvation and they need to support the work but the "work" is buying acres and acres of land with horses, fancy trees and such. One always has to ask, why do they need any of that when Christ is supposed to return on any given day? So much BS, it's unbelievable.
