Cult Explosion (Original Classic)

Cult Explosion (Original Classic) - In this video cult expert Dr. Walter Martin explains the attraction of cults. Testimonies from ex-cult leaders disclose the secret inner core of groups like People's Temple, Worldwide Church of God, Moonies, Hare Krishna, Christian Science, Scientology, Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Hinduism, Black Muslims, Unity, and the Manson Family. All credit for this video goes to the late Dr. Walter Martin and Jeremiah Films.

I always enjoyed listening to Walter Martin. He was a powerful speaker and very capable of delivering a meaningful sermon. He did however have his own flaws which were similar to his accusations against others. He had a narrow perspective on who is a Christian, and he also had his own cultic views.

If you happened to be a staunch Catholic, you're out! If you believed the Godhead to be anything other than traditional trinitarian, you had no salvation. In other words, believing in the Trinity was REQUIRED for salvation regardless of what you believed about Christ or faith in Him.

He did mellow in his latter days. After several dialogues with Adventist Desmond Ford, they become best of friends and Walter had a change of heart concerning the 7th day Adventist church and the doctrines of the law, sabbath, and conditioned immortality, now considering them within reason to be acceptable Christian dogma.

As one who has had experience with 2 cults mentioned on this taped presentation, I also agree with Walter that many of the doctrines of the Adventist and Church of God (HWA) movement are acceptable Christian belief, though this is not an endorsement of their cultic pharisaical behavior. Jim Jones was a different animal altogether. He was never a Christian , nor a preacher or practitioner of the fundamental beliefs of Christianity. He was a communist, a professed atheist, and a mad man who lusted for recognition and power. He was a phony in every sense of the word and managed to lead several of my family members to their demise. In my mind he was the worst on the list!

This Martin guy probably goes to some mainstream cult of his own. Where he is likely paid for bashing the little cults.
